Saw this again for about the third time: Fantastic Planet.

Possibly my favourite animated film ever. It really is incredible. What a film! Every frame is a piece of art.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070544/

It's on youtube if anyone's interested. Weed, Ket or psychedelics work perfectly with it.

le planete sauvage.

classick. i bought a copy on dvd back in my crazier days.

i like the girl in that one. movie reminds me of Bottle Rocket.

the girl the girl always the girl.

did learned some interesting paris driving techniques and etiquette in Band of Outsiders.
just in case
;)

finished Balthazar, its difficult to say this movie is better then that movie sometimes...i liked how the grey scale seemed to take on a mauve tone at the end.
8/5

i didnt watch the "'Donald Richie on Balthazar" segment' offered at the menu screen, seems interesting....

Cyberbully (2011)

Made me really glad I am no longer in high school, and made me see that the cyber bullying I received could've been much worse, and paled in comparison to this. Film had a good message at the end but ended unrealistically in my opinion and in my experience. Good film overall. Probably wouldn't watch again, though. Possibly more aimed at teens to say "You're not alone" and parents to say "This is what could be happening to your child!"... I mean, it was on ABC Family after all. ;)

killing them softly:
against my expectations i really liked the movie. the script, direction and acting were excellent, although the political point was completely unnecessary. still, i enjoyed it quite a bit. 8/10
dredd:
another movie i expected hating and ended up loving. pretty straight-forward action movie, which was exactly what i wanted it to be. 8/10
two-lane blacktop:
definitely a weird movie. of all the actors, only warren oates can act, almost nothing happens and yet it has an oddly mesmerizing and unique atmosphere about it that i found absolutely irresistable. 9/10

Andrei Rublev(1966)
"The story of the 15th century Russian icon painter, Andrei Rublev."
IMDb
8.4/10

This was the 205 minute version(with 40% more added closed caption dialogue), and I am looking forward very much to watching it again. We had an abused donkey in Balthazar :! and now horses in Andrei Rublev.
_________

<i love my library>

next!

Cul-De-Sac(1966)
8/10

"A wounded criminal and his dying partner take refuge at a beachfront castle. The owners of the castle, a meek Englishman and his willful French wife, are initially the unwilling hosts to the criminals. Quickly, however, the relationships between the criminal, the wife, and the Englishman begin to shift in humorous and bizarre fashion."
IMDb

much different then i expected.
=D

_________
"Here Here Here Here - What ... What is it?!"

"That froggy bitch pulled my ear off!"

"Here! Here! Here! - Who taught you to speak like that ?"

"Mummy did!"

[exclaims]

I'm a Cyborg, But That's Ok - Wes Anderson and Terry Gilliam had a Korean baby and that baby decided to direct an adaption of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. That pretty much sums up this film. Good stuff.

Beasts of the Southern Wild

"Faced with both her hot-tempered father's fading health and melting ice-caps that flood her ramshackle bayou community and unleash ancient aurochs, six-year-old Hushpuppy must learn the ways of courage and love."
IMDb

7.9/10

the only thing clean was the liquor and the spirits.
;)

The sad thing is you didn't acknowledge the part of the joke I was really aiming for. :\

John-Dies-at-the-End-Poster.jpg

John Dies at the End - I'm a fan of Cracked.com editor David Wong (who wrote the source material) and I really enjoyed Bubba Ho-Tep (whose director shot this film), but I couldn't get over how fucking stupid this movie was. With the exception of Paul Giamatti (who I can't believe agreed to be in this, despite only having about 10 minutes of screen time), every single actor was atrocious. The story can be described thusly: two friends take a crazy drug that allows them to see demons and shit, basically turning them into the brothers from Supernatural. The themes of drug use, madness and "What is reality?" are fine and dandy, and even got me interested in the beginning of the film (despite the amateur production), but it just gets stupider and stupider as the plot rolls on...and not in an endearingly campy way like Bubba Ho-Tep.

What's worse is that I paid $10 for this trash - never again. It's Netflix or Piracy from here on out.

Tombstone (1993)

Was a little disappointed with this. I'm not really into Westerns all that much. I've seen a few movies which were alright, but as far as genres go it's definitely not one of my favorites. Felt like this dragged on a bit and some of the action sequences seemed choppy and a bit of letdown after a decent buildup. Val Kilmer did play his part as Doc Holliday really well though. One of the better roles I've seen him play.

The other night I also saw 21 Jump Street (2012)

Enjoyed this movie a lot more than I thought I would. Was quite funny throughout. I even gave it a second watch because of how much I liked it the first time. Never saw the show, but from what I've heard the show was not a comedy, so if you were expecting a movie that was similar to the show you'd probably be disappointed with this.

Storyline
This is a series of ten shorts created for Polish Television, with plots loosely based upon the Ten Commandments, directed by Krzysztof Kieslowski. Two of these, Dekalog 5 and 6, are shorter cuts from the feature-length films--Krotki film o zabijaniu (A Short Film About Killing) and Krotki film o milosci (A Short Film About Love), respectively. They deal with the emotional turmoil suffered by humanity, when instinctual acts and societal morality conflict.
I actually just re watched a short film about killing, not the mini-series. I really wouldn't watch a short film about love if you are sensitive, it's fucking heart-tearing. Well, if you get the subtext at least.
