Friend is worried

Hey guys, new to this forum, but looking for some answers.

A friend of a friend mine took a club 'E' pill for the second time spaced between 3 months. His first experience was fine, and he experienced the usual comedown effects, and everything was fine 24 hrs later, life back to normal. However, when he took his second E pill the following 7 days his stomach felt off. Meaning, he felt like he had butterflies in his stomach all day. His stomach felt as if he was anxious and that feeling of having butterflies all day. He said it's been 1 week since his second E pill, and nothing has changed, the butterflies and weird feeling remains. His friend was worried and wanted answers.

His question is; is this normal? His heart rate seems to be faster/louder(?), and the stomach issue still remains. He finds it extremely annoying and is very worried, as having this feeling all day and night makes it hard to sleep and do anything when awake.

Thanks.

I'm always impressed by how many people can get their friends of friends to write on a website for them.

Butterflies in the stomach is an anxiety issue. Your friends (sorry, friends of friends) problem is certainly psychological and almost certainly nothing to do with MDMA. It simply doesn't last in the body that long.

If you insist on a physiological answer...maybe he ate some crap in the last week.

There could be a million answers for why he has butterflies in his stomach.

He probably read too much of this forum.

Thanks for the reply.

However, that feeling of butterflies, or anxiety as you said has never occurred before. He experienced this the day after having the E, and it's been persistent for a week long, unchanged.

Any suggestions?

maybe he has stomach bug and is overthinking the symptoms due to him recently taking a pill. It's highly unlikely that the feelings he has is down to the one pill that he took a week ago.

Various articles state that E effects can last up to a few months. Not the chemicals within the body, but the side-effects itself (depression, mood swings etc).

When you say highly unlikely, could there be a slim chance of it being due to the E pill. It wasn't pure MDMA, as it was a club E pill, which could have had other sorts of drugs/toxins in it.

What about the increased heart rate?

Thanks for the responses, appreciate it.

Like, wow.

He said it's not some simple butterflies in the stomach, as if you were nervous before public speaking, etc. It's 24/7 all night and day. Other symptoms he is still experiencing based of taking E are still also; loss of concentration, increased heart rate, anxiety.

I know you guys are far more experienced, so basically this is all psychological and nothing E related?

Yes. It may be e-related in that he thinks it is, because he is worrying about the e, but that doesn't make it the fault of the e.

Loss of concentration and increased heart rate are both symptomatic of anxiety.

Sorry for going in circles, but; could the anxiety not be E related? I read up that anxiety/panic attacks are not a rare occurrence with E.

The anxiety could be related to the experience/pill he had - did he test it or have a rough night / experience something nasty when high?

When you think about it the anxiety experienced with MDMA is normally during the come up and usually subsides. I know that some people may feel a bit out of it for a few days but the constant butterflies / increased heart rate is not normal (especially if it has been going on for such a long period of time). I also know that if somebody has had a horrible / stressful time when high the negative effects may take a while to calm down. He has only used MDMA twice which wouldn't really be enough to cause panic attacks / lasting anxiety unless he already had an underlying problem.

Like you say your going in circles - could it be the MDMA, possibly. Could it be something else, possibly. Nobody can tell you for certain as we do not know what is wrong with your friend.

You have asked a question and two people have told you that they don't think it's down to the MDMA - if you wish to just keep asking until somebody says they are certain that it is then go ahead.

It would be a lot safer for your friend to go to the doctors, give them the symptoms and omit the fact they have taken MDMA.

I think SWIY felt something strange in his stomach.

He connected this with the E. It may have been something as simple as hunger. But he made the connection. The seed was planted.

Now, he's worried about it, so this worry manifests itself as an odd fluttering feeling in his stomach...which makes him worry more that the E has had a bad effect on him...

and, as SHM and bearlove have said, this becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Tell "your friend" to eat properly, and mainly to relax. Tell him it is highly highly unlikely the E has caused this, and he should relax...

Sorry I can't tell you it's down to the E, but it very likely isn't.

Here are some basic explanations I can give as this sensation is not uncommon.

A) Ecstasy increased his awareness of an underlying psychological issue.
B) The uncertainty is increasing these feelings of anxiety
C) Neurotransmitter down regulation, depletion and/or damage is reinforcing feelings of anxiety.

No, it wasn't tested. As I mentioned a generic club E.

Then it could be a very broad range of issues. Unfortunately E does not have a pharmaceutical generic.

Would that be for however long the Ecstasy stayed within his system, or permanently?

What do you mean by this?

By that I meant, it wasn't tested, was what's known over here as a 'goog', which is generally an ecstasy pill.

Which means it might not of even been ecstasy at all?
