My girlfriend had a brain haemorrhage a couple of months ago. She had a bit of a rough time of it in hospital (vasospasm, hyponatremia and hydrocephalus), but has recovered well and is saying she'd like to do some MDMA over the new year. She's not on any medication other than for pain relief and she doesn't seem to have any residual effects - she gets tired easily and gets headaches sometimes (particularly when she's been on her feet for a few hours), but no obvious neurological or psychological changes. The hospital advised that cocaine and tobacco were dangerous and to be avoided, but didn't say anything about other drugs..
Does anyone have any experience with this scenario? I can find a few papers suggesting MDMA can increase the risk of ICH/SAH by causing transient increases in blood pressure, but since her aneurysm has been treated this seems unlikely. Even so, intuitively it seems like an incredibly dumb/dangerous thing to do, but I'm struggling to think of any concrete dangers/reasons to back this up. She has done MDMA a number of times before, although mostly relatively low doses and not for for a few years now.
Any thoughts? I'm happy to have views either way - either reasons why it's dangerous, or stories to reassure me that we're not going to end up in the hospital again. Thanks in advance!
