Can anyone offer tips or advice on entering the medical marijuana industry? I'm entertaining the idea of moving to Denver and checking it out. Budtending, trimming - I'd start near the bottom. Any experiences?

Why's that? Seems like a better fit than Austin.

I'm not going to claim to be able to predict the future, but it wouldn't surprise me if the federal government stampede all over Washington and Colorado's states rights in terms of legalization. A lot of people don't like the idea of recreational cannabis use, even if a lot of these people believe medical marijuana to be totally acceptable.

Furthermore, California already has a very well developed medical marijuana industry and most people who want to get jobs with medical marijuana go to California. Washington and Colorado have medical programs, yes; but I doubt the volume of sales, production, and employment is anywhere near what it's like out here in California.

As a last point, I wanted to say that California's medical marijuana system has been around for some time now. It's not impossible that Colorado and/or Washington may get rid of their legalization efforts. Montana had a medical marijuana program, and they got rid of it. There was even a vote to bring it back - and that vote failed, miserably, namely because to bring back medical marijuana you were supposed to vote "NO" on the proposition. I wouldn't be surprised if a group of people are working right now just to nullify Colorado and/or Washington's legalization efforts.

Suppousbly they've already taken steps to prevent this.

I moved from Washington to Texas and would rather not move back to the Northwest. If Colorado falls through I'll at least be in a state that snows.

I'm hoping that legislation passes but I doubt it will; the Republican majority in Congress does not give a fuck about states rights. It's just the reality of the situation.

If you want snow, then definitely move out of Texas. I hate snow/ice with a passion.

If u leave out the whole federal govt and the laws being repealed thing, then it seems like Colorado and Washington would be ideal for someone trying to get into the industry.

Problem with Cali is because it's so big over there everyone and their mother has flocked to the state in hopes of the same thing, you'd probly have a better shot in a dig state

Again that's assuming the Feds don't shut everything down

Cheers, I live in Denver, and it's pretty hard to find a decent job. That being said, I do commonly see ads posted for budtenders and trimmers on craigslist, but you can't work in a dispensary if you have a felony conviction, I'm pretty sure.
