Increased Sleep Paralysis after MDMA abuse.

Around a week or 2 ago I ate next to a half gram of mdma crystals at a festival. Ive never abused this much in my life and indeed is quite not worth it due to the comedown afterwards.

Any who, I noticed some people posting threads experiencing sleep paralysis after abusing mdma.

My whole life I always have gotten sleep paralysis at least once a month so this is nothing new to me. However this week after my mdma abuse I had sleep paralysis several times a night upon awakening and sleeping. Im back to normal now.

I find it weird how mdma can cause this to happen to me more.

It was kind of a blessing though because I use sleep paralysis to induce lucid dreams.

I had several lucid dreams because of the mdma abuse due to the sleep paralysis.

The only thing I found is that my lucid dreams were unusually much harder to control than normal and the visuals were much darker and gloomier than my usual colorful lucid dreams.

can it be that depleted serotonin can cause your dream states to be more depressed as well? In the lucid dreams I continued to try to get to new areas or places but every place I got to when I opened a door a floated through a wall was a horrible ugly dark place.Usually in my lucid dreams I can wonder through colorful beautiful areas but not after mdma abuse.

any one else here use sleep paralysis to lucid dream as well?

Had a few horrific experiences that have made normal sleep paralysis a breeze. For some weird reason whenever I even think about sleep paralysis my eyes just start to water uncontrollably......

Had a few lucid dreams but none were induced by sleep paralysis, the last time it happened was shortly after MDMA use. Ended up laying there unable to move and it felt like I could feel someone kneeling across my shins. (the only time I've ever consciously opened my eyes I got stuck in some nightmarish loop that felt like it was real and I was crawling into my parents room to try to wake them whilst being forced to the floor unable to reach up to my door handle)With my eyes shut I just imagined I was having sex with someone i liked (I'm gay :p ) and it felt so real. Without a doubt the most awesome dream/lucid dream/sleep paralysis ever.

Not very MDMA related, I'm sure it's probably to do with being sleep deprived.

protip: if it happens and you want to wake up just hold your breath, will shock you into waking up.

People with narcolepsy experience sleep paralysis more. Whether or not MDMA use can increase symptoms of narcolepsy is something you would need to take up with a very open minded neurologist or counselor.

Personally, I go through stages of having sleep paralysis sometimes 3-5 times a night.

i actually find sleep paralysis a gift. only fear is the only thing i dont like about it as fear is what makes me want to wake up. but every time i relax and try to float out of my body i have some cool lucid dreams. im not sure how else to induce lucid dreams with out sleep paralysis. i recommend to any one with sleep paralysis please try to stay calm and try to "float" up or down"

I only got it during heavy abuse periods of my life. It has been a couple years. I really remember it, though, it was a little too crazy at one point when I was mixing with opiates. (yikes)
Very interesting, and I can really understand your post.
Ive been using MDMA for over 10 years. Sometimes I get dark visions afterwards up to a week after. Sometimes I get good ones. Sometimes the sleep paralysis is scary, sometimes I would lucid dream too and think of fun things and it would be kinda cool.
I think the lack of serotonin is what gives us the dark visions. All unicorns and rainbows when rolling, and all scary stuff when that has worn off. Just makes sense......

I feel like MDMA has harmed me in some creepy ways. I think dark thoughts I used to not think.....like I imagine myself in bad situations too often than i think I should.....like car accidents, head getting bashed in, teeth knocked out, fucked up shit.
Im a really jolly happy positive person and I can hide things like this....I come to bluelight to get these dark thoughts out of the closet. Sleep paralysis is really interesting.....Sometimes I would get a brain zap during it, anyone else?

It's hard for me to imagine that some people find MDMA induced sleep paralysis a benefit or consider it a gift. For me it was always one of the worst and most feared adverse effects of MDMA. When I was a regular user it didn't happen every time I used E, but when it did occur it would be multiple times close together in one night. I don't miss those episodes of being sure that I was actually awake, hearing friends and loved ones talking, the slowly dawning realization that something was terribly wrong and then my endless screaming for help in some unknown terror while unable to move a muscle only finally jerk awake and find none of it was real and then to fall asleep and go through it all again....over and over again.

I've had sleep paralysis all my life. Might not have it for a month, then suddenly 4 times in a night, then 3 times scattered that next week. Absolutely random.

I've gotten used to and still hate hate hate hate hate it.

Never "abused" MDMA, but I feel in general if I'm over-tired or have been doing any sort of drug lately it happens more often.

@Sn0wday & vancbc.

You guys are really missing out if you believe sleep paralysis is some sort of evil demon tormenting you or something in your sleep.
Its just the situation of not being able to move while your mind is awake can cause you to freak out and think evil shit is near you. Sleep paralysis happens to you every time you sleep except you are usually unconscious when this happens.

The end to your sleep paralysis problems is when you stay calm during the paralysis. Imagine being able to think the way you do now in your dreams!

I to this day still get scared as hell when it happens but its way worth it when you actually say "fuck it"... relax and try to "float" and you can consciously dream.

Just hold your breath, wake up and make a cup of tea! It's the English thing to do.
