Gibberings CXI: A Bit Like Real Weed

a YEAR on full pay? How the hell did you swing that haha, was it cunning trickery or is it really as easy as I hear with government jobs

I was off for about 7 months, maybe a bit longer. 6 of those on full pay. Then I went back sporadically for a while, maybe a year, but with days or weeks off all the time, then went off sick again in March, was on full pay for a couple months, half pay for a couple, then SSP for like 1 month or something before they finally sacked me in August. Even then, I could have went back in August if I wanted to, but I wanted the pay off money (2 weeks pay for every year I'd worked there, tax free). I know, I know. It's fucking disgusting, but it's their fault for letting me do it lol.

It was really, really easy. Initially I genuinely went off ill with stress & anxiety, then just stayed off. Went to the doctor, told them who I worked for & that it was in a call centre & I was stressed. Signed off for as long as I wanted, no questions asked (well, questions were asked obviously, but you know what I mean, the Dr was quite happy to sign me off sick forever as soon as I told him what it was I did). Normally 8 weeks at a time, but after those 8 weeks it was just a case of going back to the doctor & saying I need another line.

Sitting in the Dr's waiting room writing up speeches in my head, its like a kid in a sweetshop. I wonder what wonderous lovelies I'll leave here with today.

The words 'DRUG SEEKER' writ large across your medical records? ;)

Hopefully not, but that's where such behaviour can lead if you catch the wrong doctor on a bad day.

I'm worried that my records say that. Even though I haven't done that. Just the amount of times I've complained about not being able to get to sleep & basically laughed at the Dr when they said "buy nytol" or told them that I need stronger painkillers because of a broken shoulder, they were prescribing 30mg cocos & I was telling the guy that I'd take two of them for a slight headache, I've got a fucking broken arm! I need morphine or something! (that was a hospital doctor though, my own GP swapped out the cocos for tramadol no problem, didn't even need to go in, just phoned them).

I think GPs in our respective parts of the country are pretty wise (not to mention jaded) and have to face drug-seeking on a daily basis. Maybe it's different in Chipping Fucksbury or wherever, but they generally seem to assume anybody under sixty complaining about pain or insomnia is swinging the lead.

Haha. That is quite an achievement, definitely level 53 skiver there

I don't blame you for taking advantage at all lol, but on a serious note the laws are truly screwed up if someone can get away with it for that long, that easily. I'm all for employee rights but even a government employer needs to have some ability to get rid of staff if its clear they aren't going to work well there, regardless of the reason.

I've to see my GP tomorrow and tell her that I've had a totally fucked up week and munched everything I had in 3 days and that I seriously need to have dosages upped so I don't keep hurting myself in numorous ways :(
It's not been good lately.

Fuck's sake oh how I whinge and whine.

Just done it, 23 drugs tried ever, fuck all done in the past year except weed and booze.

Well you've got a lot on your plate at the mo chuck. I'm glad you're seeing the doc about it soon. <3

It's the same round here. I've been in multiple times about sleep issues, anxiety, insomnia etc. My doctor actually told me they wouldn't prescribe anyone under the age of 50 medication for anxiety / sleep etc as it's too easily abused. Discrimination.

Just been out to get booze and on the way back some lad got down on one knee in front of me, said something, then went 'wait wait no', cleared his throat, goes 'Is that a mirror in your pocket? Cos I can see myself in your pants', handed me a single red rose and then went on his way.

Made me smile anyways. Slightly further down the road I met a man dressed as a gigantic foot and the world's most unconvincing transvestite nurse who asked me for some water.

Studentsville <3

41 drugs tried and there's a few missing on that list. I conflicted on whether to feel proud or ashamed. Says I'm in top 10%.

Used 23 drugs in the past 12 months.

Used 4 in the past month(well they consider alcohol and tobacco too)

I've been told the same. When the doctor tried to prescribe me an anti-histamine for insomnia. Had to laugh at the cunt & tell him that I already take 1 of them every day for hay fever, so how on earth is it going to help me sleep (he was telling me to take 1 at night, it wasn't like he was saying "take a dozen")? He was clearly at it, but he said that they wouldn't prescribe anything stronger unless I was an OAP.

Got diaz prescribed once, but only something like 10 2mg ones. I already had a bag of 10mg scoobs in the house anyway, so there was little point in these things when the entire script was basically just 2 blues.

I've just started doing that Drugs Meter thing.

"You have used 39 different drugs. Compared to others who have filled in the drugs meter, this is in the top 10%. This is probably much higher than most other people in your country" Winning so far. Top 10%. On ye go! %)

It was quite worrying going down that list like - tick, tick, tick, tick lol.

Edit - "You have used 20 drugs in the last 12 months. Compared to others who have filled in the drugs meter, this is very high and probably much higher than most other people in your country" haha, I was being conservative with that as well, might have been more.

27 here, definitely a few that are missing as well. Top 10% as well. Only 6 in the last year (very low). 3 in the last month (alcohol, caffeine and one use of weed....).

Reading that I wonder if I can make it round to May again on sicknotes only and get back to full pay again, I have a feeling they'll do something to fire me first. Probably something about my sicknotes coming from Portsmouth and the job being in Cambridge.
