it's really hard for me to find a vein in my arms now and i can't see any in my legs and if i use my hand or foot it swells up even if i don't miss any ideas where i could hit

I would try the larger veins like the one in the inner elbow, or the one that goes down the right side of your right arm if your palm is facing up, do the opposite fir the left arm. use good brand new needles, a dull needle will make it extremely difficult to puncture a vein without it rolling. finer guage needles dull faster but are easier to hit with their first use. I prefer a shorter needle, 5/16 inch works like a charm for me.

it takes practice, if your nervous and hesitant your more likely to miss. Be swift with your injection, but still gentle. I mean swift with the puncture not swift with the push, that should be done gently. if you gently but quickly poke in the vein won't have time to roll.

injecting properly is a skill, unfortunately the better you get the more addicted you often get. practice means using more drugs. your going to make mistakes in the beginning, just like with anything, but if you take my advice you should be good. I sometimes use tourniquets if I'm having trouble. if you miss a shot don't try injecting into that spot for a couple days, the bubble will mean you have to inject deeper which means the needle won't be all the way in and is more likely to fall out. with a tourniquet it is especially important to be quick when sticking yourself, but make sure you don't go too far or it will go all the way through the vein and this not only hurts but it also causes thrombosis or scar tissue to form in the vein, eventually collapsing it. I have been injecting since 2009 sometimes 50 times in a night at my worst, and I haven't collapsed a single vein.

take a hot shower, exercise to get your blood flowing, than tie off with a tourniquet such as a belt but better is a rubber one from a needle exchange. next when you think you have a vein rub your fingers on it, it will feel puffy and soft, much different from the surface around it. then the rest is easy... i hope you are using good HR techniques!

yeah i use clean needles just once then dispose of them rub alcohol wipes over the area i'm injecting into use distilled water kept in air tight containers and micron filter my shots i wish i could find a vein in my leg cause my track marks are already worse than any i've ever seen and i've seen a lot and no one would have to see my legs and think track marks except other junkies or people who work with junkies

I've used the inner calf, but I'm skinny and veiny, there's good ones there but they can be hard to see....

My suggestions pretty much are the same as what LaCster had to say: Hot shower/bath, use a tourniquet, move around/exercise to get your blood pumping. Make sure to use a clean needle every single time - and if it is taking a long time to hit (with a clean needle even), change to another clean needle as surely that first one has dulled a bit.

I have similar troubles and it IS very frustrating. I must stay patient or I just make the situation worse for myself. Change positioning, make sure to have great lighting. Sometimes I 'do' shoot in my feet - I don't recommend this. If you do, don't do it often and do so with proper technique and hygiene.

Unfortunately, I can relate all too well. I ran through the veins on my hands and arms at least a year ago. Without repeating what's already been advised in this thread, a valuable piece of advice I picked up was to literally feel for veins. If the visible ones in your arms/legs are shot, tie off properly and literally feel for ones below the surface.

^ If you go too deep, you might hit an artery and not know it...If you tie your calf a few inches below the knee and stay shallow, you should find one...It tends to slip out pretty easy though..I hate 5/16 needles and always use 1/2s, but thats just me..

^ You're right. It's kind of tough to articulate deep enough to be visible but not deep enough to be in artery hitting territory, especially when you can't physically show someone what you mean.

Your so much stronger than this shit bro. Your body won't put up with this abuse forever. Even if you can't quit, if you could not use the IV ROA as much, it would be progress.

i was thinking of taking my oxy orally but i'd still be IVing my dilaudid

That's a very great start man, I totally believe that you have it in you to make the transition.

I think that oral oxycodone should be your goal, start getting in the habit and stick to it. Don't talk yourself into allowing yourself a shot of oxycodone for any reason.

is there like an anatomy book that shows where veins are generally speaking cause everyone is different but just to give me an idea

Your hand veins are going to swell because they are so close to the surface. You shouldn't really continue to IV with a lot of collapsed veins, but if you can see and feel your hand veins, I would advise you use that before leg veins.

I second what tricomb is saying about IVing less or not at all, that would be a great improvement. :)

I know how much shit ill probably get for even saying this but.... Iv seen lots of people with veins that are totally fucked in there arms and legs so there alternative is to do it in there neck.... I HIGHLY suggest you don't shoot into your neck but if you must have someone that you COMPLETELY trust or if your good enough then do it in a mirror.... I personally would never do that method because of the arteries in your neck.... There's one fucked up way iv heard of people doing also... There's guys that get hard and then shoot it into there dick veins.... I would never attempt this either!!! But there is a vein in the pubic area that iv hit before witch is another sketchy spot too! Iv hit arteries before and if I didn't have my finger on the plunger it would of shot right out and across the room so be VERY CAUTIOUS!!!!!

Again I'm not suggesting you use these methods because of how incredibly dangerous it is but I also know what its like to be addicted and on the rail that hard.... Please explore other options before you use these "more dangerous" areas!
