So a couple weeks ago i had a Valium and dope overdose and was checked into a hospital and later went to rehab. For the last 7-8 months my back has killed me and doctors never gave me an MRI or CAT scan only x-rays. So i try to go into the emergency room and when finally seen by a doctor he asked me what the Valium over-dose was "about". My question is will every doctor i see from know on know about this? Because i felt from that second on the doctor judged me... sending me home quickly and said they "couldn't do any type of scan" even though just a year before i had an mri done their for me ankle. Thoughts? Thank you.

where are you located? a couple of years ago here in the uk you could opt out of having your records shared in this manner, although im sure theyre probably still available upon request.
USA. Thanks for the response personally think this is bullshit, I understand i fucked up and have been clean from benzos and heroin for the last month - detoxing simultaneously from both. I feel like from now on doctors will judge me because i wasn't in the right mind state a while ago and got into hardcore drugs - now understanding it was very stupid. Was prescribed the valium BTW

done a quick google search but couldnt find anything about opting out of sharing medical records in the usa. i know how you feel but just know that they are paid to provide you with care. if you get a doc who is being a dick because of your previous then see another and another until you get what you want. theyre not all assholes.

Im still in high school too i don't wanna be marked as a drug seeker, ive been going to physical therapy for around 7 months too i told him ive tried multiple NSAIDS and was prescribed flexeril, gabapentain. He told me to take advil and stretch...which i told him ive been doing the entire time. He looked at my back for literally 5 minutes and sent me home.
Also i have a side question. I went to detox and after being on Xanax then later switched to Valium for about 6 months the detox i went to refused to give me benzos to taper me because i was "too young" according to the doctor. They put me in an adult detox center when i was under-age because they said that i wouldnt fit in the adolescent program because of the drugs i was on. Anyway they wouldnt give me any benzos until i started shaking uncontrollably and almost had a seizure...they gave me librum...is this illegal?

It just didn't make sense to me. I was prescribed xanax AND valiume the last two months i was on them...and I told the doctor there and she gave me librium under the nurses discretion which is bullshit because every nurse also told me i was too young. How does age fit in with detox i was just trying to not have a seizure. I asked to be released and they said no to me. Luckily gabapentin was prescribed to me so withdrawals were bearable.

well thats the thing. that screams illegal to me. i dont see how they could have got around putting you in there regardless of what treatment you needed, you were underage. something not quite right with that
exactly, the second day i was there like i said i started uncontrollably shaking, when finally given 100mg of librium i screamed at the staff that it was bullshit they'd let me suffer like this and demanded they send me home. I called my mom and she called the doctor and told my mom she wouldnt prescribe me a benzo and wouldnt release me. I dont understand how they could do this. A month later i still only sleep every other night and still shake sometimes

i would seriously seek out legal advice. not only has the law been broken but it sounds like you were treated with negligence. im not sure if you have to pay for legal services or not, but if you dont you should follow this up.
Do you really think its worth it? If so i would seek legal advice theres plenty of lawyers around here that except free calls.

you shouldn't be able to just "pull up" peoples medical records from anywhere, theres something wrong....I don't think there's a database with everyones records on it...

If you go to the same hospital, they will have every record of you ever being there. Even that one time you had a cold 5 years ago. And if you get referrals from the doctor that was treating you when you had your overdose, they will get those records. Best advice, find a new GP, ask for referrals-not controlled substances, and be as discreet as possible. Give them enough information, but not too much. I hope this post isn't misconstrued as instructions on how to get drugs, but as instructions to get better treatment. Finding a good psychiatrist to build a rapport with will also help in your treatment. I'm going through something very similar actually.
Librium is actually a benzodiazepine and is commonly prescribed for detoxing off of benzos or alcohol. I've never heard of overdose info being open to all doctors so I don't know what to say about that. I know that there's a database for all the medications you have been prescribed, but never heard of overdoses being in a database although perhaps a doctor could see if you were given the drugs that reverse an overdose.
