Kratom after methadone

Hey guys,
I recently got ahold of some methadone-one night took 20 mgs, 30 mgs the second night, waited a day without, and then the third day i took 20 mgs again. Have not used today nor yesterday, and don't have any left.

My question is, how long should I wait to do any kratom? I don't wanna waste it, and want all that done flushed out of my body beforehand. some say 3-5 days will be enough, others claim 8 or ten.

Any personal experiences with this? thanks.

And by the way, I am not a regular user of methadone.

this question is hard because people have different tolerance's, and tolerance ins't tangible or measurable . you can't say, "i have a tolerance of 8.65," that wouldn't make sense..

Methadone builds up in your system the more you take it (you used it 3 days out of 4, so that's different than just taking it once), and individual metabolisms vary greatly, so it's going to be different for every person. Methadone takes a very long time to be completely out of your system, but if a tiny bit is still in your system shouldn't make much difference as far the possibility of a kratom overdose, so you don't need to wait for it to be 100% out of your system, but it is safest to wait until you are not experiencing any effects at all from the methadone any more (and I don't mean just the "high", the respiratory depression can last after the high is over) and for a good portion of it to be out of your body. Kratom is not a very strong opioid, especially in comparison to methadone so if you are no longer feeling any effects from the methadone, you were able to handle 30 mg of methadone without overdosing, and it's been 2 days since you last used methadone, I would say it should be ok to use some kratom, just start with a small amount of course since you can't be certain how it will affect you.

As for whether you would fully feel the kratom, that's a tough one too, as it again depends on your metabolism and tolerance. The methadone should no longer be significantly blocking other opioids by this point, but if you were able to use 30mg of methadone without overdosing you may have a reasonable tolerance to opioids, and your tolerance may have gone up somewhat from using methadone 3 times almost in a row, and kratom may not feel like much in comparison.

Personally I would suggest you take a longer break from opioids so as not to end up physically dependent. I think that is the biggest risk here.

If you want to know how long it takes methadone to be completely, the half-life of methadone is extremely variable and dependent on individual metabolism and single versus multiple dosing. It ranges from 4-190 hours. On average it's probably about 15-60 hours, (at least presumably for people who haven't taken it chronically). So that means half of the drug will be excreted in that time. So for 3 half-lives to pass, meaning that 87% of the drug would be gone, would take most people around 75-180 hrs, or around 3.1-7.5 days. And if you were one of those people for whom the half-life was even longer it could take anywhere up to 24 days for methadone to be 87% eliminated. For it to be 100% out of your body could easily take months, so I doubt you'll be waiting for that to happen before taking more opioids.

Thanks man, very informative. I should clarify one thing tho, as I made a mistake by saying 30 mg the second night-it was actually 40.
And although I am not a methadone user (neither recreationally nor habitually) I have up until recently struggled with a serious pod habit. Massive amounts too, and fresh. I tapered and then jumped CT, and after trying to drink the symptoms away, I ended up so sick and hungover that I relapsed and bought some street MD. You see, poppies are no longer in season here and it's made me sick as a dog with withdrawals.

It's now been the third day since my done usage. Though the done kept me good for two days after taking it, the WD's are now coming back. My sheets were soaked in sweat all through last night, I'm sweating and freezing, runny nose, diahrrea-you know the deal.

So a part of me wants to take some kratom tonite if my WD's gets worse, but from reading your info, it might not make a big difference anyway. I do not know whether you're dependent or not, but if you were in my seat (no pods available, sick as a dog but unwilling to do any more pharms, some hi-grade expensive kratom in an envelope lying around) would you go for the K or consider other options, ie. immodium or poppy seeds, to keep the sickies at bay?

Thank you.

Well personally I haven't found kratom very effective for methadone withdrawals, I haven't gone through pod withdrawals but I've heard they're pretty bad and long-lasting too. I am tapering off methadone and getting withdrawals right now and have some kratom lying around and am not even bothering with it. But everyone's different and kratom quality can vary a lot. Other people say it's a life saver during WDs, so if you're trying to alleviate withdrawals and you already have the kratom you could definitely try it. If your goal is to just get off opioids with as little pain as possible, I would try to use a minimal amount of kratom and taper off it, rather than using tons in an effort to get high. All of the things you mentioned - kratom, Immodium (loperamide), and seed tea - are opioids, so same goes for them (Immodium is very hard to get "high" off though because it mostly affects your body and not your brain, but it's still an opioid). There is a ton of info on here about things you can take to help with withdrawals, including non-opioid drugs, herbs and supplements. Check out the Opioid Withdrawal Megathread for starters. Let me know if you need more info.

To be perfectly honest with you, I'm not looking for a way to get off opioids. I'm hypersensitie, if not bipolar, and due to some very traumatic life experiences (also regarding my family as a whole) including things I don't really wanna get into, I'm emotionally somewhat "shattered" and have acute anxiety everyday of my life. Fact is, the only things that keeps me functioning somewhat normal are the opiates/opioids, and without them I fear I would either do something/become totally crazy or end up an alcoholic (another thing that runs in the family). I'm also prone to panic attacks and whatnot.

But to be fair, I've found kratom (and to a certain extent, pod tea) to be the lesser of two evils. I on no way feel as wrecked as I did popping pills/doing dope, though I admit to feeling somewhat dead as well. But that's more a pod than a kratom thing, the deaddening of emotions and whatnot. The methadone thing that happened I guess you could call a little relapse.

But guess what? I did take some kratom last night, the UEI (I seldom do anything else), and it actually worked! So I'm guessing my toleranc hasn't risen THAT dramatically.
Again, thanks for your help and info, guy (if that's your sex). This forum is great for answers I can find nowhere else.
