Megathread The Netflix Mega-thread vs Netflix Originals Suck

The Increasingly Bad Decisions of Todd Margaret

Anybody watched this series? HOLY SHIT it is hilarious. My bf and I watched about 6 or 7 episodes in a row last night and laughed the entire time. Davis Cross is amazing. I dont usually vibe with Will Arnett but in this series he is great. It's a British comedy about a pathological liar Todd Margaret, who is quirky as fuck.... seriously funny one-liners and awkward humor. I just wanted to share if people haven't heard of it, because I never have, and its worth a watch.

Being a precocious 7 year old in the late 80s, I was highly skeptical of the folksy idiom, "ants in your pants." It was in this state of disapprobation that, rejecting the silly animated caricature of it portrayed in my recent viewing of an episode of Loony Toons, I indignantly poured a handful of Fire Ants into my Scooby Doo underwear in an attempt to finally lay to rest the ridiculous belief that one would dance around like a fool if they, indeed, had such in their pants.

And so it was the sting of that memory -- my thighs and cock n' balls stung in a pepperoni canvas of welts -- that led my eye to pique at the "Fire Ants" documentary on a page of Netflix Instant selections.

methadonia was a pretty insightful look into life as a junky in nyc. continuing with the socioeconomically disadvantaged genre, dark days was gripping to say the least. that one is a much watch if youre into giving a fuck..

Todd Glass, Jim Gaffigan, Tom Rhodes, John Pinnette and Kathy Griffin all have new live concerts out on Netflix right now. I'm way into stand up.

i have wasted so much time on netflix, it's truly astonishing... it has all of arrested development for christ's sake.anyone who has not seen "freaks and geeks" should go watch the series in it's entirety. lots of good movies (classic and obscure) and quite a few good documentaries if you're into that kinda thing. plus family guy, south park, and such.

Sweet Jebus on a stick go watch "The Grapes of Wrath." Yeah that's 1940 on its release date. Yes, it's black and white. But shit on Christmas the dialogue!:

[from wiki] "Tom is moved to work for change by what he has witnessed in the various camps. He tells his family that he plans to carry on Casy's mission in the world by fighting for social reform. He leaves to seek a new world and to join the movement committed to social justice.

Tom Joad says:

I'll be all around in the dark. I'll be everywhere. Wherever you can look, wherever there's a fight, so hungry people can eat, I'll be there. Wherever there's a cop beatin' up a guy, I'll be there. I'll be in the way guys yell when they're mad. I'll be in the way kids laugh when they're hungry and they know supper's ready, and when the people are eatin' the stuff they raise and livin' in the houses they build, I'll be there, too."

I don't know why people are turned off by older black & white movies. 8) They really don't know what they're missing. The Grapes of Wrath is a classic. I'd much rather watch it (and read it) than any of that superhero shit.

I just got finished with both seasons of Twin Peaks. I was hooked from the first episode. It's quite a strange and quirky show, very surreal if you're into that kind of stuff. I can see some not liking it though.

American: The Bill Hicks Story. It's a documentary about Bill hicks. Personally, Hicks is one of my favorite comedians. His ability to deliver thoughtful, funny, and philosophical material is truly incredible.

William S. Burroughs is also a great doc.

Did you watch the movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me?

If not and your'e a big TP fan you'd probably like it. A lot less Cooper but still good. :)

^Yeah, I still enjoyed it, but Cooper is the man. Easily one of my favorite TV characters. I'm actually sipping on a damn good cup of coffee as we speak.

"The Wild Hunt"-- anyone watch that? About a bunch of Canadian live action role players (LARPs) in thec razy medieval D and D game who kinda sorta totally lose control of things. Starts out like a comedy but has more going for it than just laughs (not that there's anything wrong with laughing). Anyway a fun and in the end sad movie about the difference between role playing heroes and truly trying to be heroic. And it's definitely got some funny moments, I used to work at a museum and we had to work with historical reenactors sometimes, the LARPers aren't a whole lot different :D
