Again, not sure if this is the right posting spot.

I get prescribed 90 klonopin 0.5 pills per 2 months. This was effective in the first few months, but I have GAD and a benign tremor in my hands (which I was originally prescribed this for, the GAD was a bonus on top of it to try fix). I take my allowed 1.5mg per day of them, but some days my tremor is worse than other, so I end up taking 2 mg per day. Is this from a tolerance increase? Or should I tell me doctor that I need a higher dosage because the 1.5mg per day is now not enough? I always end up coming short at the end of the month since I take 2 mg some days and 1.5 other days depending on the tremor and GAD. So yeah, any help is appreciated. thanks

You should definitely tell you doctor. It probably is tolerance related in which case you might get prescribed 1mg pills. I usually wouldn't advocate this but if you have actual physical effects from the GAD, it might be more appropriate that you increase the dosage. Tell the doctor exactly what you told us and i'm sure he'll work it out with you. 1.5mg/day really isn't that much and as long as you keep in touch with your doctor, he will help you out. What you don't want is your doctor finding out you've been 'abusing' the meds by taking 2mg/day and cutting you off, which most likely would be the case if he knew you were taking more than prescribed. Doctors are fussy.

Thanks for your replies,

I always fine it horrible awkward for someone with GAD to even try bring up the fact that I don't find it's working as effectively as it could be. So you think I should just straight out say "I have been taking the 1.5 mg a day as you prescribed me, but it is not a noticeable difference from the 1.0mg you prescribed me to begin with?"

Tell him that the medication doesn't seem to be working like it did for the first few months, and that you're starting to get tremors back and (white lie time) tell him that you wanted to take more in a day but you didn't know if that would be the right thing to do.
