Looking for a new long acting benzo like klonopin

I have been scripted klonopin for a while now at doses rangeing all over from 4 mg a day to 1mg a day when i need it. I have latley been becoming numb to the effect of the anxiolytic properties it produces in the sense that it helps with anxiety to a degree but doesnt give me that extra push it used too that would enable me to want to take part in engaging in conversations with people i would normally never even look twice at. Does any one have any opinions? I was thinking valium but i heard that makes you sleepy. Also xanax is too short acting, any help is appreciated!

Xanax XR might work if you really want to go down that benzo path, which I do not recommend. And if you have tolerance to clonazepam which is a strong benzo to begin with, you aren't gonna get much from those weaker ones like valium.

Actually, Clonazepam is NOT that strong of a benzo to begin with, and their are bad downsides to it, for example its onset is like 1-4 hours, and its peak is usually around 4-6 hours. Clonazepam is not twice as potent as Diazepam as some equivalency charts suggest. Especially if you have a Benzo tolerance. Diazepam has a very rapid onset, longer half life than Clonazepam, and has more muscle relaxant properties to it, as well as more hypnotic effects than Clonazepam does.

I would see if you can get Bromazepam (Lectopam). It has about a 10-20 hour half life, its an intermediate acting Benzodiazepine, and I find it far superior to Clonazepam/Diazepam/Lorazepam.
If that is not available for you, than I would probably suggest either Diazepam or Lorazepam. Alprazolam is a VERY good benzodiazepine, but only problem is that it is too short acting, and tolerance builds very fast, and you get rebound anxiety/insomnia pretty bad sometimes from it if taking it regular, as well as too short of half life with Alprazolam.

Keep in mind, Benzo Dependence is something you DON'T WANT. So try and limit your usage as best you can, and Alprazolam has some of the worst withdrawals for benzo's. Alprazolam is only really meant for a very short time, or else only as needed. Its not something you want to be dosing 3 times a day.

Hope this helps somewhat.
Good luck. :)

I guess this is highly person dependent. I consider clonazepam stronger than alprazolam (not the potency but the overall strength).

Clonazepam is actually 10-20 times more potent then Diazepam going by the charts. Id agree that it's abit under 20 times stronger then Diazepam.

I don't find Valium to be that much more drowsy then clonazepam or any other benzo mostly used for anxiety. I would recommend giving it a go. I have heard good things about Bromazepam though Ive never tried it.

Bomazepam is not going to do a geat deal for your situation, especially if you have already been down the Clonazepam/Diazepam/Alprazolam route.

IME it is weaker than all of the above it in the main 5/6 intristic Benzo qualities.

People talk extremely highly of it's muscle relaxant effects yet ive always found Diazepam far superior in that aspect.

Everyone is different, pally pete. Bromazepam IS a strong benzo. 6mg is equal to 10mg of Valium, and its half life is around that of alprazolam, actually a bit longer.

Phenazepam. Buy it online legally and it's usually 99% pure at least. You need the amount about the size of the tip of a toothpick (1-3mgs) to equal about 2 mgs of clonazepam, and I believe the half life is 60 hours. That's right, 60 hours. So if you dose two days in a row, depending on your metabolism you might have effectively just doubled your dosage. So there is a high risk of ramping as well as blacking out with this drug so use extremely cautiously and only dose once a day at the most.

OP, I would say that Valium (diazepam) or Librium (chlordiazepoxide) could potentially benefit you if you are looking for something a little more "prototypical benzo". Both Valium and Librium, being very similar in effect, will provide fairly quick effects with, as mentioned above, good muscle relaxant properties. They are very good anxiolytics, too. The only slight downside, I'd guess, would be that Klonopin I would think to have better anti-panic action than either Valium or Librium, but I am not sure if this such a sure thing or really that important if you are taking a decent dose of either the Valium or Librium. I suppose I think this because Klonopin is a very potent benzo, which has become increasingly popular in treating panic disorder (and other anxiety disorders, too). Valium and Librium would tend, likely, to be a bit more sedating than the Klonopin for you esp. since you have a lot of experience with Klonopin, BUT at an appropriate dose, I don't think that would be much of an issue. I don't see you getting knocked on your ass by taking Valium or Librium at appropriate doses, if you have had a history with benzos. Both Valium and Librium will tend to produce a more pronounced effect if dosed chronically, due to the fact that they and their active metabolites will accumulate a good deal, having very long half-lives, but can be used as needed, too. The other benzo I MIGHT suggest would be Ativan (lorazepam), but it is rather subtle in its effect, although can be quite anxiolytic and even hypnotic, as it seems to be less benzo than it really is IME/IMO. Also, it could very well lead to a rockier dependence due to a pretty "sharp" half-life, which is not too long, and consequently effects lasting only so long (a bit longer than Xanax). This is because, unlike Valium and Librium, it has no real active metabolites - it is just Ativan doing the job, and has a set half-life, and a set duration of action. How long it takes to absorb compared to other benzos I really cannot approximate or say - I have read varied things. But, it is not to be discounted altogether if you really need a benzo other than Klonopin, though I would definitely suggest trying Valium or Librium first - even Tranxene (clorazepate), which frankly I do not know much about other than the fact it is, too, rather like Valium and Librium IIRC.

An option, though, instead of switching to another benzo completely is to use just a bit of another benzo on top of the Klonopin as needed when you do need it. But, if the Klonopin is just not cutting it anymore, then you may feel that need to switch. There are other options - it sounds like what your really want is more social anxiety-relief? Or, more palpable anxiety-relief? I don't really want to go into non-benzo options right now, because I don't know that much about your situation, but there are other drugs which can help anxiety on the whole, and social anxiety, too, some of which are indicated for such and some of which are not. But, really, one must be careful when introducing a new substance to the body and using it for therapeutic purposes, for it is not always the best idea. But, I could go on and on about that. Frankly, I think a sufficient dose of Valium, Librium, or Tranxene would be a good place to start if you just want to switch.
