So what sort of things do you blog about?

You fucking know, I post it enough
So how many posters, regular posters or new posters also write blogs regularly. I'm getting into the idea. I had one that kind of died after the main character (sounds silly for a blog to have a main character) died. Well the character was a ceramic-ish painted black skull and it was a video blog and then I dropped the skull and it smashed into a lot of different pieces. I'm thinking of bringing it back as one of the pieces was a whole half of the face of the skull so I could still do the anonymous video blog using it as long as I faced sideways when the camera was on. I think I might just start it again with just the half a face up against my face rather than continue going with a blog that I abandoned months ago.

I've got a second blog that I only stared last week I think it was. It's only got one post on it so far so am not keen to show it to anyone yet, when I get over 10 posts I will consider putting a link in my bl profile. It's basically somewhere that I can rant about things that piss me off, no matter how little they are(some people may be thinking family guy grinds my gears) I'm doing it for me though to release tension on my own so I don't go as mad when I am interacting with others because I would have let it all out.

I want to do a third blog too, not sure on the subject yet. I want to take up geocaching again and a blog about my exploits would be pretty cool, well only cool if you like nice scenery and geocaching as a hobby.

I'd even like a fourth blog that is non specific and can just be about anything at all.

I think it's a better hobby than always doing drugs, will keep me busy.

I'm not doing it to try and make any money from monetizing them, but if I end up getting followers then I will of course get some ads and affiliate links on the site just incase I do make money.

Anyway to stop this thread being a self indulged ramble about why I want to write about stuff.

Who else has blogs that are not on bluelight? Anyone fancy sharing some links so we can see what sort of things you like to write about, also, does anyone make any money from blogging, even a tenner here and there from the amazon affiliate scheme which is actually one of the best ones I think.

Would be cool to read some other members blogs.

I'll try and track it down and post one of the youtube videos I made on it that was directed to the very very absent Cbroxide (I hope that guy is alright, not heard from him in a long time)

So I watched the YT video and another one you'd posted up. Could barely understand a word you were saying due to bad sound quality and you speaking quietly. What's the point in all this btw?

I was a bit shy in my first video post to be honest, hence the quiet voice. I basically wanted to create a blog where I could talk openly about everything on camera but not show my face at all, it all hit a standstill when the skull broke into lots of pieces, I'm going to try and get it going again.

There was a good trip report I thought on the blog that was about last years xmas party that I went to on too much MXE and 3-meo-pcp 8o

Nothing. Blogs are stupid. Fair play if it's just for letting off steam, but I wouldn't even bother to post that shit online if I was you. Unless it was about a particular subject (of which there is pretty much guaranteed to already be lots more, bigger & better blogs than yours) then no-one will read it or give a fuck about it.

It's just the modern way of keeping a diary/writing a journal. It can help get things off your chest. It's not all about making it the best blog on the web. It should just be about making it your own, if people come and read it then woop de doo, that shouldn't be the sole aim of the blog.

There is money to be made from blogging if it somehow did get popular though, and although there are tons of big blogs that make a lot of money out there already it doesn't mean there isn't room for one more. I mean that would be like saying making music is stupid as there are plenty of good musicians already.

If you're just blogging about random things that piss you off there's not much scope to monetize it though Mugz.

Nah, that one is just more for me to be honest. I can have an amazon search bar on it for monetization. Hoping that people buy stuff from amazon after clicking through my link, that's a pretty good affiliate scheme. Other than that I'd have to link keywords in my blods which is annoying when reading blogs so I probably wont do that. There are some other things to monetize with, but I don't want my blogs to just be a bloody page full of ads and links.

Amazon pays 4% commission, you would hardly make anything on most sales. They'd need to be buying stuff worth of hundreds of dollars to make it worth while.

I know a guy who runs a blog about punning. On Friday morning he'll put the pun categories on facebook, everyone gets 5 entries. The following week he writes a really good blog with the results. More and more friends of friends are joining all the time. You get some amazing puns, I've only ever had an honourable mention.

If the blog became popular though and there were thousands of readers then 10% of readers buying stuff from amazon through the link would be a handy commision. When there are only about 10 subscribers then there is no way to make money, blogs only really make money through success as a blog or being in a niche that you can advertise things that are also in the same niche.

Mugz 10% of your users wouldn't be making random purchases via Amazon on your blog about your problems. On blogs tailored to specific niches, with targeted traffic, conversion rates into sales are only around 1-3% on average. Your random blog with an Amazon toolbar ain't going to get anything like that.

mine wont, but I would probably tell my family and friends to only go to amazon through my link to get some commission :D

blogs that have 300,000 readers will get a fare amount from amazon click throughs though

How many books are there on amazon about the dangers of wardrobe pizza and the effect of multi-day phenazepam blackouts on your part-time "job" at an NHS laboratory?

haha, it's not part-time and you reminded me to take some phenaz!!

Anyway lets get back on topic.

Who else blogs. I think I saw a post a while back in an RC thread where someone posted a link to their drug blog, full of trip reports of all kinds of drugs.

Does anyone else want to share their blogs?

nope

edit: although I was offered £55 to host syndicated content on mine, which went up to £60 when I ignored the email
