Why is MDMA much less mentally addictive than meth, d-amp, and etc.?

I've never had it so I can't say, but, many claim that MDMA causes the strongest euphoria out of all drugs. So, what stops you from craving more and more when the high wears off? Closest thing I've had to MDMA was 4-FA, a stimulant that releases a lot more serotonin than d-amp but less than MDMA, and I found that VERY reinforcing.

ive been scripted Amps since i was a kid

im one of those who does not like Amps

but personally MDMA is more mentally addicting for me then regular amphetamines.

first time i rolled good i wanted to repeat the experience every day but i didnt n wont because i dont wish to abuse mdma that way, tho from that roll on i desire to do it again very much so

where as with amps the first few years i was on them i hated them very much, as soon as i was able to choose whether or not i would take them i decided against it, i dont look forward to taking it when i need to (studying, papers, etc)

so for me IME MDMA is more mentally additing then Amphetamines, but i dont want that to come across the wrong way because amps particularly meth amp is said to be ccrazy additive n ruins lives etc etc yada yada n im not saying mdma is way more addicting then amps n should be feared

im just saying imo neither are particularly hard to manage usage but for mdma is much more mentally addicting and the desires to do again are much stronger for me then amps

n im not someone who has a hard time getting addicted to stuff, i was addicted to opiates/heroin for years n even had a mental "addiction" to weed for a long time so

thats my .02

Shit, it probably gives the most euphoria... but it's also literally the most addictive drug known to man.

debatable

both those statements

really depends on the person, i know many junkies IRL and on BL would disagree

n say heroin/other opiate is more euphoric and more addicting

Just from what I've gathered here on Bluelight, most people who say heroin is the most addictive have never tried meth.... and the ones that have done meth/amphetamines to the point of abuse usually say that the mental addiction of speed is MUCH worse... but they just don't have to keep using every single day to keep withdrawals away

Smoking meth is completely different from taking adderall... hell, it's completely different from taking meth orally, or even snorting it... it's another beast all together. Although, I'm sure you can say the same about injecting heroin.

^^ i never compared meth to adderall

im quite aware of the differences

i made a point to only compare my mdma use with amphetamines

also i never said that i think heroin is more addicting then meth (tho i do) because i am one of those who has never done meth

but the point still stands i know plenty of people IRL and on BL who have used both n would disagree with you

i have one friend i used to be close to who shot both meth n heroin n swore up n down heroiin was more addictive, he also was able to get clean from meth but not heroin

js

it really depends n the person

Personally I don't know anyone that's done both that says heroin is the more addictive one... but then again, there's not a lot of heroin around here, and a LOT of meth.

it really depends n the person

Oh, for sure. I was never trying to say meth is absolutely the most addictive drug out there.. different strokes for different folks, you know?

I'm just saying that it's certainly the most addictive I've tried, and I've done H... with meth, you won't even want to smoke anymore, but you'll still crave it..

There's just something about meth that completely changes you from the first hit. You no longer care about life, only meth.... and that's after, literally, the first hit. Heroin sure has that potential as well, but lets just say I know a lot more responsible heroin users than meth users... hell, a heroin user might smoke meth and not even like it, but he'll still probably crave more... but again, switch heroin and meth and I'm sure it would still apply.

Not to mention, as silly as it may sound, heroin addiction is "safer"... just considering the fact that meth is highly toxic to the brain and H does relatively little damage besides making your body dependent on it

try taking mdma everyday for a week and see how you fair...then try taking meth everyday for a week and see how you fair

i wonder if the serotonin depletion has anything to do with it. mdma drains me to the point where i say to myself im not gonna do this again for a while.

As for WHY, dopmine is the pleasure center of the brain, and it is used to reinforce positive actions we take in our day to day lives. Meth and other stimulants releases dopamine at alarming rates, overloading the pleasure center of the brain... it honestly feels like the biggest accomplishment of your life, just in you moving the pipe to your lips, and all you want is more of that feeling... that what your wired to think.

I agree that the difference in psychological addictiveness between methamphetamine and mdma is generally to do with the neurological action of both. Methamphetamine, as opposed to mdma, is primarily dopaminergic, and the dopamine reward path exists to reinforce behaviours - to make you do them again. Things like eating and sex release dopamine to 'reward' the behaviour, so that the organism repeats them. This is an evolutionary survival tactic, because taking away drugs, the behaviours that release dopamine are ones that promote survival. Drugs hijack this natural reward mechanism and give the payoff without the beneficial behaviour.

To me, it's not at all surprising that people get addicted to meth - what surprised me is that some people don't. That people can recover from methamphetamine addiction shows the amazing adaptability, initiative and resourcefulness of the human brain.

Yes, it is a disease. It is even catalogued in psychology books of diseases and disorders. There is a part of the brain that controls addiction. Some people lack addiction control.

Short Answer: MDMA kicks the shit out of your brain a hell of a lot quicker and for a lot longer than meth.

Eventually even meth becomes un-enjoyable like MDMA. But a person will recover fast enough to do it again and enjoy it.

mdma has less addicition reinforcement because if you abuse it you get barely any good effects.

I don't feel I can get addicted to something that makes me refrain for eating for days, and reduces all my body functions to ziltch for a day. Same with ket, after a heavy night the last thing I wana do for at least 2-3 weeks is either of those drugs. My body likes touching the ground and being reminded of what reality is like, a treat isn't a treat anymore if it's every day.
