Im 25 and i have a noticeable amount of gray hair, to people always ask me how old i am. Personally i think it looks pretty bad ass. Its alittle salt n pepper. Almost a young george clooney thing going on. I think i started getting gray at 19. Anyone else start going gray early? Im guessing its from my stressful heroin addiction, and all the shit ive done and seen because of it. who knows

My brother in law starting getting gray at about 24 or 25. It wasn't from heroin tho... just a family trait. My husband didn't start til his 30s however. My brother in law just left it, and it looked good because he's got dark olive skin, and back then his hair was long... the gray was almost an accessory, looking back on it.

I'm 53 and have just started to get gray hair. I can't believe how quick. Once I noticed two, then I noticed 4... gray squared. I am just watching and wondering what it's going to be like, being old.

this is a problem for me at 26. Started when i was about 23. I don't get why it's happening other than genetics. I'm undecided if this is cool or not but i've had people notice it and be like, 'you're going gray already?' yeah thanks asshole. Not much i can do about it though. I do however find the term salt and pepper to be hilarious, especially when i refer to it as salt and pecker, so at least i have that.

ya people are always like "man you must be really stressed!1" me "please shut the fuck and get a way away from me" atleast i wont be going bald anytime soon

I started noticing gray hair around June of this year (I'm 24). Life had been pretty stressful since Feb., so I chock it up to that--My parents and grandparents didn't start noticing gray hair until well into their 40s for the most part.

Thankfully I only have a few strands of gray at the moment: My hair is dark, so they are rather prominent if I part my hair a certain way. :-/

Apparently finding a few gray hairs early is not unheard of--A few young (mid 20s) coworkers and friends have told me they have found gray hair.

I think men carry off gray hair like silver foxes. It can help a young man seem more mature to employers and females alike. My dad is 84. His hair is as white as snow and it's thick and looks great. He looks much younger than 84. The male balding pattern is not very flattering on any man. I prefer gray to male pattern balding and don't mean to offend anyone. I don't think wigs look very good on anybody but Oprah. Young men who go gray before others should never be asked about it though. Why are people so rude???? Asking a person about his weight, height, acne, hair, heels... no manners in this world, that's the problem.

I think guys look good getting gray at any age. Women can colour their hair much more easily, so it needn't be a problem. And if any guy is worried about losing their hair imo don't, they can look just as attractive with male pattern baldness if they have a close cut and confident attitude.

I think it's in your genetics. When I was 25 my hairdresser noticed I had quite a few greys. I had that mousy light brown hair like everyone on mother's side of the family. So I just kept getting it highlighted from then on. It got real noticeable at 33 when I decided to go to a darker brown. In four weeks I had fucking white roots all over and it was very noticeable. So I went back to blonde so I wouldn't have to color it so often.

I have girlfriends in their fifties who have hardly any grey at all. But I would rather be able to color it than lose my hair to female pattern baldness. Like my Aunt Jackie whose hair got so thin you could see her scalp from any angle. That would suck.

I'll take gray hair over female pattern baldness any day, even though I don't color my hair. My mom's hair is very thin, and thin hair is rampant on my mom's side--Dad's side has super thick hair, which I am thankful to have gotten. ;)

There are different reasons for gray hair and not all are genetic. Well, actually, that's not completely true. Genes have switches that are activated or de-activated based on different factors, and hair pigment works on switches. The switches for hair pigment relate to nutrition, stress levels, and hormone levels. And yes, in a lot of people it's just a time-activated thing that comes with aging and there's nothing you can do about it.

Colour can disappear if nutrition has suffered, if a person has experienced long-term stress or trauma (adrenals), if they ejaculate way too often (in men, this is called essence deficiency), etc. About essence... the modern understanding is that the more often you ejaculate, the more androgens are released in your body to compensate; and just as some bald men had baldness switches in their genes that were sensitive to an influx of aldosterone, the same is true with gray hair in those susceptible.

The Chinese herb he shou wu (polygonum multiflorum) can reverse gray in some people, especially those with deficient type constitutions. I've used this on patients for other things and a side effect has been their hair colour returning, so I know it works for that. Just make sure you're using the prepared version and not the raw version. The raw one is to increase bowel movement, but the prepared one is for nourishing blood and essence.

Do you have an objective source for this? A quick search gave me nothing relevant except this.

I've started balding early (in fact, I took medications for a couple of year), but at some point stopped (yes, before losing all hairs :P), and i'm not graying (i'm 28).
My brother started having gray hairs at 24-25 and now (26) it's quite noticeable. He also shows more sign of ageing and does have a more stressful live than me, but I'm not sure that is one of the causes.

I broke down and colored my hair last night after 4 months. When my son saw me this morning, he said "hey you fixed your grey hair!" :)

it can be genetical more so than anything else but you can always postpone it as long as your body is healthy. its oxidation from stress or harsh life, maybe tons of poisons in the body speeds it up ?

foreigner, the herb you recomended for grey hair is actually toxic for the liver. i have read reports about it that in too much might help grey hair BUT its toxic. in fact, even small doses were mentioned to not be good for you but it probably takes a long time to notice. if i was you, i wont use it on people so blindly without accurate modern medical evaluation.
