Opioids Fatty meal about 2-3 hours into opiods = nod nod nod

Does this make any sense? I have read a million times to eat something a little fatty before doing opioids as it will increase absorption. I usually always do this (Reese's or something).

However, I have noticed many times that if I eat a big fatty meal about 2-3 hours after ingestion, especially like lasagna or some kind of pasta with cheese...I get the most ridiculous nod. I have been on Vicodin for my ribs and back lately and do not get much so I do not really abuse it considering I really need it for back pain and I am under medicated because I am in PT. Last night I only took 20mg which is nothing for me (good buzz for me now is about 60-80mg of OC, 10-15mg Opana snorted). I did also take 1mg of Xanax also, but this is also normal. I usually barely feel anything from these doses as I have a tolerance to Xanax from daily prescribed use for anxiety (I know I know - I need to get off ASAP but I need my back fixed first so I can exercise) and a decent opiate tolerance. Last night I was almost comatose after doing this. It was like a food coma combined with a nod type of feeling. Anyone else ever get this after big meals hours after opiate ingestion?

yeah I definetly feel this , gotta love getting something sweet and fatty when your feeling the effects of the beautiful poppie, that scene in Pulp fiction comes to mind "that is one goddamn fucking good milkshake" or however it goes

:)

Gonna have to try this next time I get high. I've been hearing it on and off for years but never really took it to heart. Interesting.

I know eating fatty foods increases oxymorphones oral BA from 10% to 30%, which bring is very close to nasal administration strength. Endo has a research article on this.

Ya...not sure what the deal is with the pasta meals, but preloading with a Reese's and then eating a large pasta/cheese meal 2-3 hours in just makes me nod like crazy. Would like to hear if anyone else ends up experiencing the same thing. I had it happen to me on 10mg of Opana maybe 3-4 hours after snorting it too. I couldn't keep my head up after a big ass slice of Lasagna.

Never heard this before but that milkshake clip brings back memories of my first time doing vics. I had 4 wisdom teeth removed so i would pop 3 vics and make some bomb ass milk shakes all day! haha. I did get super high without the nod but i'm sure that can be attributed to the fact that I had just started poppin :D

Haha fuck yeah I love Pulp Fiction hey man, so so many classic scenes in one movie, pure entertainment!
Havn't had a good milkshake in years, I'm definately gonna have to get one now...

As regarding this 'Fatty Meal Increases Opioid Effect' subject... I do seem to notice this myself.

I mean even in terms of just similarity-of-effect, opioids/opiates themselves remind me of the feeling you get after a big, delicious, hot-gravylicious, McTasty-Land, massive feastytimes of a home-cooked dinner, and therefor opioid's effect seem to synergise wonderfully with the eating of the afore-mentioned fatty tasties. So even on a simple level of pleasure (regardless of true potentiation) they work well.

Here is an abstract copy-and-pasted from a journal article -

'Differential effects of food on the bioavailability of controlled-release oxycodone tablets and immediate-release oxycodone solution'.
(David P. Benziger, Robert F. Kaiko, Jahanara B. Miotto, Ronald D. Fitzmartin, Robert F. Reder, Mark Chasin)

Abstract:
The effects of a high-fat meal on the bioavailability of oxycodone hydrochloride, administered as a recently developed 40 mg controlled-release (CR) tablet or a 20 mg immediate-release (IR) solution, were evaluated in a randomized crossover study in 22 normal male and female subjects. Serial blood samples were collected for 36 h after dosing and analyzed for oxycodone by a validated method using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. There was no significant food effect with CR oxycodone as judged by 90% confidence interval (CI) analysis of AUC0−∞and Cmax values under fed and fasted conditions. For the IR solution, both oxycodone bioavailability and peak plasma oxycodone concentration were significantly altered by consumption of the high-fat meal, with the mean value for AUC0−∞ increasing to 120% (CI = 109– 132%) and the mean value for Cmax decreasing to 82% (CI = 47–91%) of values observed in the fasted condition. Adverse events reported for both formulations were mostly mild to moderate in severity and typical of those observed with opioids.

This paper seems to say that although duration was increased (AUC 120%, so it means duration was increased by 20% right?), it seems to state that the maximum plama concentration of the drug actually declined by around 18% (Cmax = fatty meal Cmax 82% of what the fasted Cmax was, right?).

SO is it saying here that duration was increased and intensity dimished? Because that just sounds like what would happen anyway when you eat food with a drug compared to empty stomach = it takes longer to absorb therefor lasting longer but having a lower Cmax...

Personally I do like eating a mad big yummy fatty meal about 20 minutes after my first morning dose as my fucking neck spondylosis creaks and grinds and my mass pain mixed with my gaping opioid hunger/addiction screams FEED ME WITH OPIATES NOW...

I find that whenever i eat any large meal fatty or not whilst under the effects of opiates it diminishes the high. I believe this is caused by my body focusing blood to the stomach to aid in digestion.

couldn't it just be:

(1) large carb/dairy-filled meal
(1) cns depression from strong opiate
(2) yawn..nap

1+1=2?

just throwing it out there..

@tokenname - it very well could be a food coma but it has nodding effects though...not just sleepy...maybe just a perfect combo of food coma and plasma levels. I also don't consider 20mg of Vicodin a strong opiate dose at all either though (ie. my last time this happened).

Ya, it is not advised to eat a large fatty meal before ingestion, but something small and fatty such as a Reese's. Please note my experiences with these intense nods are roughly 2-3 hours after ingestion and generally come from pasta/cheesy meals. This is the main thing that I was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced.
