should i try heroin

Youll justify its use when you do the weaker ones. "well i tried codeine and it wasnt so bad so ill try hydros. Hydros werent so bad so ill try oxycodone. Oh shit im getting dopesick and oxy is too expensive but i NEED to feel better so ill try a little H just this once..." <2years later> "fuck i need to get off this shit, time to get on bupe/done". Its how i got to where i am. Most people i know started out with "weaker" opiates/opioids and ends with H.

thanks for the input serotonin101

I'm sort of asking the same question. The guy I've been talking to/sorta seeing, IV's every once in a while. He gave me Oxy to rail for the first time and I actually really enjoyed it. I look at him, a pretty successful, has his shit together kind of guy...and see that it's possible to have your cake and eat it too...but how many of us actually possess that kind of will power?

i know this thread is old and you chose not to use Heroin(good choice) but this is how it went for me. i tried oxys first and then decided after a couple years wtf iv delt with addictions before and decided to try H. it wasnt all to impressive imo just like others said its a really strong opiate painkiller. I didnt like it much but my buddy who was starting to get bad on it would always have it n he'd offer me some and id always be like what the heck its free and a little wont hurt. i started doing it weekly thinking i could chip but then that led to 2-3 times a week, started noticing myself slowly getting sick and drifting out of touch with reality. i barely used any either just .1-.3 a night of black tar. I noticed it was changing me quite a bit and put the shit down asap, even though i didnt like it much those first 4-6 weeks i went without it i felt like i was going without something. i used off and on for a year. im thinking it doesnt matter if you like it or if your to strong to get addicted or havent been addicted, it can happen. i think its just the nature of some drugs.

yeah from the sounds of heroin its too physically addictive and mentally addictive to mess around with ill stick with weed and alcohol and occasionally benzos. also once in a blue moon i do some sort of psychedelic lsd shrooms dmt something along those lines.

That's EXACTLY what I did. Codeine, hydros, oxy and bupe. I didn't even need to get to heroin to get addicted, oxy was enough for me. Sure it feels good at first, but man is it not worth it in the end.

You've made a wise choice not to try it and I hope you stick to it :)

yeah i will turn that shit down if offered

Might wanna stay out of the "nodding at inappropriate times" thread as we junkies glorify the nod and it might pique your curosity too much :P

As a drug, heroin really comes into its own when your life sucks and it serves its function as a vessel for escape. If you use it recreationally when things are going fairly well, you'll probably think This is it? This is the beast? Kinda cool, but I keep puking...not really worth it. Other drugs have made me feel much more euphoric and go on with your life. You'll probably go a few months, or even years, like this, doing it opportunistically and each time moving forward without much difficultly. You'll have convinced yourself that you have the self-control to handle heroin.

But then you'll have that magical time when you come across heroin during a rough patch in your life, and you think like this: Wow, I guess I was making a big fuss out of nothing. My problems are completely manageable. I just need to fall back on heroin every once in a while to slam things back into perspective for me. You'll come up with some magical plan about doing heroin 'often enough to keep your problems in perspective,' but 'not often enough to get physically hooked.'

But where things will go wrong is eventually the problems you're using heroin to put into perspective will actually be caused by heroin. It could be anything from a friend giving you the cold shoulder when he finds out you use heroin recreationally to getting a possession charge before you were even physically addicted. The point is that once you start using heroin to treat problems that only exist because of the heroin, you're screwed. This loop soon leads to physical addiction, and once you're physically addicted, it's very hard to stop, as heroin withdrawal is extremely physically painful. At this point, you're a heroin addict just like the people you see on the streetcorners when you go into the hood to buy your drugs. You just haven't gone through the process of losing everything you have to the drug like they have. Yet.

You'll soon run out of money, but the physical addiction will still be there. At this point, you'll have been exposed to the habits of a lot of career-addicts, and you will know ways to scam money and keep the habit going. You won't worry about being caught stealing from family/friends, about destroying your credit, about avoiding bills, about pawning off stuff you've had for your whole life, as the fear of the withdrawal will always be worse than the fear of the consequences of any of those actions.

Eventually something will happen that will force you to quit. You'll be arrested and not immediately bailed out. You'll be sent to rehab. Your dealers will all dry up at once. After you get through the withdrawal, you'll start to feel normal again, but you'll be overwhelmed with the guilt and the shame of having destroyed everything in your life, and you'll be faced with tons of practical obstacles in the way of getting your once-comfortable life back on track. It will be a tremendous task to get that life back, and you'll get bummed out over how long it's taking. And then one day heroin will fall into your lap, and you'll want to use to just get a few hours of escape away from the pains of having to rebuild a life destroyed by drugs. Cycle repeat.

BOOM! Right there. Nailed it.

I've seen people who have used, misused, abused, and died from this. In my opinion, It doesnt matter who you are. Heroin does not discriminate. Every person reacts differently to it, but unfortunately...most people find it to be amazing in such a way that they can not control themselves. From all the people I have known to do it, I've never met one that has only tried it once. I hope that you stay away from this, it can be a mean beast. The side affects from depression, alienation from others, the craving, the sickness, the isolation, and everything else...its not worth it if you get hooked. I've known some people that do do it recreationally, and they are not addicted...but if the opportunity comes, they dont ever turn it down as well...its something that will always be there. SO PLEASE DONT DO IT.

SOOOOO glad to hear you didnt' do it... my story - in a nuttshell - I was 29yo mother professional college degreed wife - that went to rehab because I was put on adderall and quickly became addicted. I'd never done a street drug in my life other than weed a few times. I left rehab with new "friends" who taught me how to shoot heroin. I lost EVERYTHING in 8 months time ... I was addicted after the first time.

I am speechless. This is all anyone needs to read when asking themselves 'should I try heroin?'
