Horizons: Perspectives on Psychedelics Conference [NYC], 2012

I did a search and noticed that there was no post for the upcoming Horizons conference this year, so I decided to go on ahead and be the one to make that post! <3

I'm sure that many of you *are* familiar with the Horizons Conference, but probably many of you are still not... so I'm just going to explain what the conference is all about.

Horizons: Perspectives on Psychedelics is an annual conference held in Manhattan where dedicated researchers, scientists and scholars gather and share their findings and knowledge on what's currently happening in the realm of psychedelic research and therapy. Many of you probably have heard about the recent resurgence of interest in these potentially valuable tools, when used safely and in conjunction with therapy. Some applications currently being explored include the treatment of MDMA on war veterans with PTSD, the use of Psilocybin to ease fear of death in terminally ill cancer patients, and LSD for the treatment of alcoholism.

For those of you in the New York City area (or really from anywhere, if you're willing to travel), we hope to see you there! The event will take place on October 12-14th this year (Friday-Sunday).

And man alive, has it been a good span of time since I logged into Bluelight; this showed up prominently on Google search results for "Horizons," though, so BAM! (It's always interesting to pop back here after an absence. Things are rather different for me certainly these days than they were in the heyday of my logging into this site, and things are rather different here, too, and in the "scene" at large. Πάντα ῥεῖ.)

All those on here who I've been so inexcusably out of touch with recently are encouraged to hit me up, especially if you're going to this conference. I'll try to check back here (since though I'm still perplexed by where the "User CP" went, typing in the URL appears to deliver), but e-mails to SKL at esoteric Pharma dot org would work swimmingly as well :) Or those of you that know me personally, just give me a ring or something.

Definitely looks interesting :)

I posted something about Psychedemia, but it didn't generate much interest, plus it would be a little bit of a trip for to go out to Pennsylvania, not to mention finding a place to stay there. This is much closer though. I just need to google and see what the speakers are currently researching!
 
this & psychedemia both look cool. Was planning on checking out psychedemia b/c its a little closer, but i have to get a new car now so i won't be able to :( Though now i am planning on attending Psychedelic Science 2013 in Oakland. That should be far enough in the future to give me time to plan & what not. Hope those of you that are able to attend have a good time!

Does anyone know if there will be a livestream or similar feed at psychedemia or horizons? I know horizons usually posts video after the conference but was hoping to be able to watch some of if live.

We members of the lumpenproletariat can't be too concerned with such things, and maybe there's just unease at the idea of conferences and suited men on the part of some of our userbase, especially those who are of more esoteric/non-Shulginite schools of thought.


Do report back on any conferences y'all attend though. It's always interesting to hear about it.
