Hi. So, I'm having a little problem here.

A while ago I was prescribed by my doctor for horrible headaches I have a few times weekly some Hydrocodone (WATSON 7.5/325) and used a bottle of 28 over the course of about two months, then I ran out. I figured the rate at which I used them would not be enough for withdrawal symptoms and didn't worry about it. About 4 days after I ran out I woke up with a restless feeling and a horrible stomach ache. This went on for about 2 days, with occasional chills. I though for sure it was in fact withdrawals.

Eventually the pain got intolerably bad (which I thought was odd for the withdrawals for an lower strength opiate taken for only two months) and I went to the hospital. The pain was mostly in my abdominal and stomach area. They gave me hydromorphone to stop the pain and at that point I assumed cross tolerance for opiods would reduce the symptoms of the withdrawal. They didn't.

They ran a bunch of tests there to deduce what was wrong. At this point, I was considering I might have some sort of stomach ulcer or something (since I'd been having stomach aches occasionally for the last half a year), but the tests returned normal results. They told me that "stomach pain was a tricky one" and that they usually don't find what it is most of the time. They prescribed some Percocet and I went home.

Now, here's the thing, it's two days later and I've taken a Percocet each day. My symptoms still remain, and right now I have the chills and a stomach ache. My question is, wouldn't the Percocet stop the withdrawals? Does it have to be exactly Hydrocodone again to end this? Because of how long this has gone on, I feel that it is indeed most likely that I'm either sick with some sort of virus or I have some sort of stomach issue that's aside from the opiates, but I just thought I'd come on here and ask you guys since I'm still unsure. Could withdrawals develop this fast, for this long (6 days total now), and are stomach aches a typical symptom of them?

I was under the impression that if you opiates should deal with withdrawals for other opiates (hence giving methadone to heroin addicts etc) so chances are it's something unrelated, and I'm not hugely knowledgeable about Hydrocodone specifically using 28 over two months really shouldn't cause any withdrawals, if it were likely I would imagine your doctor would have warned you about it at some point.

doesnt sound like WD. the oxycodone in the percocet would have ceased the WD from the hydro, or at least made you feel better. is it stomach or lower like GI? how would u rate the pain? dull and constant? or sharp and occasional? have you tried any stomach meds like pepto or tums?

It's constant and it's both stomach and a bit lower. It goes down in pain from time to time and up as well. Probably about an 8, and a 4 with the percocet.

Also, I'm missing a couple of typical WD symptoms from what I understand, such as sweating and shaking.

Thanks for the information.

Yea does not sound like WD. Low grade WD tho can be mild, just achey no appetite, doesnt have to be sweating and shakyness.
how old are you if you dont mind me asking? sounds like you should seek a second opinion from a diff dr since the pain has been consistant. maybe a dr that specializes in stomac/GI issues as there could be a whole myriad of different causes. best of luck, i know how debilitating it can be.

I'm 19.

Also, I will be seeing a gastrologist very shortly. I'm just trying to sort out what I can by myself at this moment. I really don't know too much about the problem other than this so far.

I would say you can get on wedmds symptom checker, but if you are a semi-hypochondriac like me, you may end up self diagnosing that back ache from laying on the couch all summer as renal failure lol....

the GI dr should be able to tell you whats going on in there, i mean you are a young guy (im assuming guy) could be anything from a food sensitivity to something more severe.

As far as seeing doctors goes: it's surprising how many of my friends don't do this, but make sure you tell your doctor everything which you've been taking, while I'm not exactly an expert in doctor/patient confidentiality laws I'm almost 100% certain that anything you tell your doctor will help not hinder.

Not saying you would be silly enough to withhold anything from your doctor or that you would need to (you're drugs were scripted after all) but honesty will take you a long way in terms of getting better, I've had some of the worst ailments of my life as a result of trying to withhold shit from a doctor and having them either be unable to work out what’s going on (in which case symptoms persist) or have them prescribe something which has interactions with other things that I've recently taken which did not end well. Luckily one of my close relatives just graduated from a pharmacology degree so I don't need to worry so much about risks as all my drug use (scripted or otherwise) goes through them to double check.

Hope you get better :)

Im not to familiar with WD symptoms of your situation, but i have been dealing with intestinal problems since i was 9 (I am 19 now). But i was diagnosed with Celiac Disease at age 9. It is a gluten intolerance which is a protien in A LOT of foods. Basically everything delicious. Your problems sound similar to what i was going through. Are you fatigued at all through-out the day? It could be something in your diet that your body cannot digest , which in turn would cause some pain (sometimes silent pain). But your GI doc should be a lot more informative than me.

The pain is not withdrawals. I'm really sorry you going threw this.

It can be pretty scary having unknown abd pain and can not find a cause.

We really can not Telly you what is wrong. It's speculating. We are not drs and can not give a diagnosis over the Internet.

Unfortunately I will have to close this because speculation is against Bluelight rules.

Please read through our guidelines.

I really do hope you find out what's wrong.
