my drug problem needs help i dont know what to do

I FEEL LIKE IF I DO GET OFF I WILL NEVER FEEL GOOD AGAIN CUZ I ALWAYS HERE people saying once your off you will forever be diferent and everyday will be a stuggle to stay clean and i am so scARed to live my life like that ive tried taking xanax and bud to keep me content but dont work

PAWS (Post-Acute-Withdrawal-Syndrome) is somewhat rare with opiates or opioids, at least compared to other drugs.. (PAWS is what causes you to never feel "normal" again). PAWS is highly dependent upon your tolerance & how long you've used... & your tolerance isn't that high (i mean, high to "normal" people I suppose)... so ya got that going for you. Plus, if you get into buprenorphine/suboxone therapy, your likelihood of having PAWS (& never feeling normal) will be severely--if not entirely--mitigated and/or avoided. But, seriously, be careful w/ xanax & GABA-a agonists in general.. if you become dependent you will most experience PAWS. I'm dependent upon butalbital (a barbiturate which is a GABA-a agonist, similar to xanax & other benzodiazepines) & had to experience withdrawal in between prescriptions for 5 days- I would honestly welcome withdrawal from 1.5 bundles (or 15 bags of tan powder... we're talking upwards of 600-700mg of oxycodone for comparison, at the absolute least) of heroin a day compared to that experience

Anyway, I hope you read my post on suboxone (my post prior tot this one).. b/c it will definitively make you feel "normal" again. & I gave you many resources/tips for initiating therapy, too. You're at a cross road right now man... if you continue to use; your tolerance to oxycodone will cause you to transition to dope or other potent opiates/opioids; & it wont be long before you start banging your dope (err, injecting heroin).

or paying an absurd amount from overseas pharmacies.

Source discussion isn't really allowed, but since its not specific...i'll merely say:

Huh?? International pharmacies (IOPs) are much MUCH cheaper than US based ones. Although, I use US based pharmacies (not for tramadol, though) so I can use COD. Call me weird; but I prefer to receive my meds w/in 2-3 days of placing my order & paying for them when I get them (i.e., COD)... Rather than wire-transferring cash to a dude in India in advance, waiting 7 days or so to receive my package, not being able to even TRACK my package b/c "airmail" is always used (i'm an obsessive tracker.. heh), and/or risking being ripped off (although my source for US meds also provides meds from int' pharmacies and is very reputable).

Its a pretty easy choice for me.. :D

TO THE Original Poster... as a previous longtime opiate & opioid user of all kinds, I recommend reading this whole post:

I also suggest suboxone; whether you prefer maintenance or a taper (taper is usually 6 months via outpatient; if its detox, then its anywhere from 2-10 days); Whether you do an outpatient taper or maintenance, while on it.. I guarantee you it will make you feel "normal" again, here's your first steps-
  1. www.suboxone.com ...THE BEST SITE. The SAMHSA websites others are referencing on this thread is way outdated.. if you're in a small area; its likely all the doctors listed in your area are "full" (they can only have a max of 100 patients) since it wont show newly licensed doctors[/I]
  2. type in your zip code
  3. you'll see a list of doctors; above that list, you'll see two tabs..
  4. click on the 'SAMSHA physicians' tab (you'll get more results)

After following the directions above to find local doctor's licensed to Rx buprenorphine, call all the doctors & ask the following:
  • Taking new patients?
  • Pricing for ASSESSMENT..
  • HOW LONG will it take before you can start the medication AFTER the assessment (these days, in my area most doctor's will put you on it right away, I had to wait 1 month back when I first got on it).
  • Costs for drug tests, if any (my doctor required me to go to a local UA testing center, where you end up paying ~$20 if you piss clean--over $60 if you piss dirty.)
  • Policy on relapsing, if you piss dirty (most doc's use UAs on a regular basis)
  • If Applicable: if you're on medicaid (since you have no insurance?) be sure to ask if they accept your type of medicaid (a lot don't for the appointment costs) AND if they allow you to use medicaid for your medication... yes, its fucked up; some doctors wont even let you use medicaid for your medication (they're probably getting fuckin kickbacks from reckitt-benckiser pharm reps, anyway..)
  • FINALLY, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT!

You'll find all this information out anyway when you go in to fill out all the paperwork at your first visit/appointment. But its still good to know ahead of time before choosing a doctor.. that way you can choose a doc that is the cheapest and/or who best suits your needs...

Start on calling around for suboxone-licensed doctors!

And please keep us updated! WHATEVER you decide to do...

Thanks for all the information and the time that went into making this post.<3

No problem! I used to be a regular contributor here back when B9 was the moderator (I don't know, some 2-3 years ago?)... I actually created an extensive resource for opiate addiction therapy methods that was "sticky thread" at the time (don't know if it still is "sticky" though)
