I was always hugely jealous of your tits you know ;) I'm really not sure much can be done about volume loss when you lose weight.. decent bras/corsets are probably your best non-surgical option!

Glad the fitness ting's going well :) I've still really not started yet but intend to sign up to a gym class any day now. Eyeing them up to see which one looks best.. going to try to go swimming a couple of times a week too. My genius idea to walk a few miles to work and back every day has fallen through now work's less than 10 minutes away haha..

Sorry for epicly late reply, but thankyou honey :) I say it's going well, but the last couple of weeks have been an absolute chore, not even been to the gym once this week yet :/ Although I have been doing a bit more walking, setting myself little missions round town at lunchtime to get me out of the office etc. Every little helps and all that bumf, but getting enough exercise in AND drastically cutting calories is a VERY delicate balance and when I've finished work I just usually flake out on the sofa ;) Last year I was managing to get up at 5am and squeeze in a gym sesh before work, but i have to wear a suit to work this year, and, well, I just can't be arsed I suppose ;)

Have you tried not eating until just beyond mid day, all the way through til 8 or 9 at night? That's what I do and it works brilliantly. It's really easy to run on fumes and coffee for the first 4 hours or so of the day, then 1500-2000 calories seems like an awful lot when you only have an 8 hour eating window to eat in. The first few days to a week are very difficult, because we are conditioned to eat breakfast as we get up. But now it's a walk in the park, and it's actually quite hard for me to face food first thing in the morning. It also has the added benefit that because you stopped eating at 9 the night before, your body will have stopped burning the food you put into it from about 1-3 in the morning, and will be burning fat til you refeed at mid day. It's a lot simpler and easier than all this eat 6 meals a day bullshit!

I have to say I rarely eat before lunchtime when I'm at work, on days when i do I eat a shitload more, it's like that first eat opens a door, a gateway feed if you like, then I just graze all day and my meals etc too...

I have a couple of cups of coffee, sometimes a banana, a nectarine, something like that...but nothing proper till about 2ish, when I finish work...

I do drink a couple of litres of ribena though, and that will prob give me as many calories as a McDonalds breakfast or something anyway.

I don't really analyse what I eat

I won't calorie count either, feels like it would take the fun out of eating, and i love my food!

Treacle: It's easy to get the bar on your shoulders in my gym there's usually a squat rack. Or do you mean at home? The core exercises like squats, bench, deadlifts, pull ups etc are always hardest if your doing it at the right weight. I can squat 40kg pretty easily 3 sets of 10, plus the bar weighs 15kg. I could probably do more but I dont like looking a pleb when it's busy, and it was heaving today!

Watson: without doubt it is the booze at the route of it. Try cutting back a bit on that maybe, and watch what you drink. Even when I was drinking skin fulls of vodka black current and water daily i managed to get to the most fit i've ever been.
I was doing this at my mate's, so no rack! I suppose that's one reason to keep my gym membership.

The booze thing: Some people call booze the anti-muscle. Ethanol is packed with calories, whether it's beer or vodka. I once switched to vodka and diet lemonade, during my proper alcoholic phase, but then I realised it had nearly the same amount of calories - simply down to the ethanol. Booze also diverts the liver from breaking down fat and other things that feed your muscles, and it's largely seen as something that will hinder you massively, if your goal is to get big. I still like a drink, and I'm also seeing gains - so, I can only imagine how much better it would be if I cut out week night drinks. If you're worried about weight, and you drink, then you need to stop - or really cut down, unless you can exercise all those calories off.

MSB: I do the same with food. I often train before any food, and I don't have any issues with strength/endurance. Is there any reason NOT to do this, if you always feel adequately fuelled? I obviously get something in me ASAP, after a workout.

I started on those Blox SAAs I was harping on about before, pre work out. They're like 100 cals, so they don't count as breaking your fast, and the extra you get to put into your workout pays off big time. Plus I have a strong coffee with a dash of skimmed milk and stevia about an hour before working out so I have lots of energy to bounce about. Studies show that people who skip breakfast are more likely to be overweight, but obviously correlation does not imply causation. I find it far more likely that people who skip breakfast unintentionally cus they're in a hurry are more likely to just end up succumbing to a chocolate bar or bag of crisps at around 10 or 11 at their desk, whereas I avoid that temptation. Have you been on the lean gains blog/forums? A lot of people are having a lot of success with this method! As long as you get your macros in during the day, i'm not convinced it really matters when you get them in. So just get loads of protein in, a bit of fat and a bit of carbs, and you're sorted. Also, I know it's a bit brosciencey, but I think there is a real benefit to consuming a high BCAA/EAA/Protein based meal straight after a work out. Plus, I always make sure I take multivits so i'm definitely not deficient in anything that my body might need as a building block for increasing my health and building my muscles up.

Sorry, that was a bit of a wall of writing, it made sense while I was writing it I swear.

Never had much of a problem with muscle gain and boozing, even when i was hammering lager, although cutting out lager all together and sticking with spirits made it a lot easier. so many cals in booze, 200-ish per pint, fuck that, far too many. nothing will stop me drinking vod though

It's not exactly impossible to put on muscle when you drink a lot, you are just doing yourself out of results and wasting effort. Also, alcohol hurts more and more the older you get.

I used to drink quite a lot, the first time I tried the gym, like ten years ago. It changed me from a skinny twig, into a more stocky twig, and I never lost the gains. It was probably because it was the end of puberty, or something. When I drop the booze more, I'll be on to a winner.

MSB: It seems like a good way of doing things. I just don't think about breakfast, probably because I don't get up early, but even if I do. It's just wired into me now. Eat when hungry, not because your bored. Although, having the munchies counts as being hungry, not bored. ;)

Gym progress seems to be better with early ish nights and early rises from my experiance aswell as what I've read.

Day off gym tomorrow, might go for a cycle somewhere if it's nice. Off for another early night anyway.

I normally go to sleep late and wake up fairly late. Why would it make a difference, if you are having the same amount/quality of sleep?

I was sure it was about the amount of sleep and the quality, not timings. But I guess you and I don't get very good sleep from about 7 AM through to say 10 AM when we get up because of the light that is coming in? A lot of the IFBB pros sleep 4 hours at night and periodically nap whenever they can throughout the day, but I think that's something to do with them injecting one thing or another and not being able to go more than 4 hours without eating lol. Can't really argue with this guy:

In my opinion BB has gone in entirely the wrong direction. I like that some people have made freaks out of themselves so I can see that humans can weigh 300 lbs and be 3% bf, but in my mind it's not about being as big as possible it's about being as aesthetically pleasing as possible. If Jay Cutler was walking down a beach most women would run in terror. I guess that makes my target more of a fitness modelesque bodybuilder rather than a Mr Olympia, but still, there is a reason that it's not as popular as it could be! Kids wanted to grow up and look like Arnie.

Hats off to that guy for building that amount of muscle

he looks fucking stupid though. And yes, i would say it to his face cause he'd never catch me, especially if i sprinted up a flight if steps.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, massive respect for putting himself through that. Eating 150 eggs a day, 8 meals a day, 6-8000 cals, 5 grams of testosterone, insulin after every meal, workouts where double my weight is lifted for each rep etc. He has actually admitted that he gets out of breath going up stairs though lol. Also, have you noticed how since the last Mr Olympia his face has elongated because he has been taking too much HGH?

That second paragraph on post 722 by MSB sums up entirely how I feel about bodybuilding. I can't be arsed with these idiot meatheads in the gym who want to look like a freak, or the ones on facebook who go liking photos of the biggest most ridiculous looking me you've ever seen. All I'm interested in is feeling fit and looking my best.

Those guys look stupid. All that goes through their minds is getting big and looking like a mutant. I've been put off the idea of steroids a bit lately, mates who are on them just seem to be acting like idiots, letting it take over their lives. Not in every case but in more than 50% of them. Fitness is one of priorities, but its not the only one. Some of these fools in the gym seem more concerned with impressing other guys in the gym than they are with speaking to females. Their crack is essentially useless lol. People might speak to them in the gym, or on facebook about gym stuff, but that's about the only level they can communicate on. Sad really.

Haha, it's the same thing with women though, isn't it? They pretty much dress for each other and eye each other up on nights out. Men obviously appreciate it upto a certain point, but they don't need to spend 2-3 hours getting ready for men. Men would just skip the clubbing part and ride them there and then if they could. My wife likes that i'm getting bigger because it makes me happier and more confident, but she doesn't notice or appreciate the subtle changes and improvements in the way other men into bodybuilding would. It is actually being classified as an illness similar to anorexia by some doctors now though. I guess it is the male equivalent. At least bodybuilding and working out is broadly healthy if you aren't a freak, but it makes you think.

That's what I mean though it is an illness. Guys my age 21-22 who are more interested in impressing their gym buddies than pulling a nice bird are quite simply dafties.

Very true. They've taken their eyes off the whole goal. Narcissism and health :D I know I like to talk about Arnie a lot, but he made sure he got healthy doses of both types of pumping. (I'm not even allowed to talk about Arnie in the house anymore, my wife has had enough. She says why didn't I marry him and stuff, and i'm like "because I was born 20 years too late, now stop slagging off the man or so help me...!" lol :D)

I don't even want to be anything like arnies size. My standard of women last winter say september-november was pretty far up there. It's to do with confidence, looking health and feeling good. I don't want to stand out like a sore thumb for being abnormally big, that's pleb material. Being noticed for being a handsome bastard and exceptional level of banter is another matter ;)
