Should include this one!
If someone who doesn't want to be part of the film club is allowed to nominate films..and submarine is quite good.

eh, it's open to anyone ... knockando's list above is just him making sure we stick to clique members only, but just ignore his elitism for now

I think it should just be a recommend whatever whenever really now, since the thread starter hasn't been arsed to return after being such an eager beaver to set it up ...

I'll be here until the bitter end tho ;)

I lol'd!

the list was a sweep of people who'd posted. It's just a measure of commitment, really. Everyone's welcome to join in!

disclaimers disclaimers disclaimers! <3

(lol at commitment, most of em haven't posted in 5 pages =D)

just to say, submarine was hilarious and moving. beautifully shot andwonderfully acted. EADD has privided two things for me which i really needed. Loggerheads was just a great bit of banter and letting off steam for me and a load of other people.it just turned a potentially meh day into a laugh a minute for several hours. very therapeutic and we need more of that sort of thing when the time comes. submarine took me on a nostalgia trip but also infused me with optimism and love, and made me realse, somehow, that we're not wasting our time here, good things will come of us, we're the cutting edge of meaningful culture and we shouldn't forget it. hence my wee rant on gibberings. all true btw, i'll be happy to back up my new age twaddle with actual social mechanims if anyone's interested! i think we have a lot of potential here for good progress if we amenable to accept the power we have throuh our words.:D

ahh I just saw this after asking if you liked it in the gibberings thread .. nice one <3

[ps: I'm interested! but I have to go do driving things n stuff, so back later later ]

Just watched Harsh Times on Film 4 with Christian Bale in it. Not bad film.

Couldn't find the other thread so it got posted in here. Was a waste of bandwith space otherwise.

I watched Looper last night. I didn't want to write about it as Brimz stuck a needle in his artery just as I was booking a ticket and I felt like a cunt going out to enjoy myself while he was going out to A&E.

I sat in the Edinburgh Vue nursing my popcorn and fanta and thought of Brimz while the ads and trailers played. I'm glad you're OK man, I was seriously worried about you.

But not so worried I couldn't enjoy this film (let's face it I've never met you, I've seen your face and you've smoked my baccy but I can't let that develop into some kind of fatal attraction).

Anyway Looper is a first class sci-fi time travel flick. I thought it was going to be shite during the first 20 minutes as some of the premises were a bit dubious. And it had that "watch every fucking frame or you're lost" feel to it.

But no, it was forgiving of (moderate) attention deficit and the story was actually fairly original and I was able to suspend my disbelief and become drawn in by an engaging plot and likeable characters. And Brimz is OK. Result!

Recommended.

Agreed. Great flick. Really really good in fact. I'd give it nearly 8/10

I saw it last Friday sat in an empty cinema with my feet up.

Old fashioned, kinda, and not swamped with car chases or too much CGI and really well acted.

I'm in bed so not able to write anything detailed, but it's definitely worth paying seven of your hard earned or scrounged pounds and getting off your arse to go see it at a proper cinema, rather than waiting for a download.

Old fashioned - funny you should say that as I was sat thinking, this is a western, and it is a western, really. A good one.

Deffo, I like getting out to the big screen now and again even if I could watch everything from the comfort of my sofa. There was hardly anyone in the cinema last night, maybe twenty of us, and we all kind of gravitated round a certain spot and although we weren't chatting away or anything, it felt like we were in a big living room; shared experience, even with strangers, is often better than the solitary equivalent.

It was nice that no-one made unnecessary noise too, I think the type of film and the timing was a big part of that. Mid-week scifi cinema ftw.

And, from a purely technical POV, my 42" plasma is no competition to the big screen,
