I was only relaying my experiences of vomiting on heroin to the internet, does that make me hardcore?

Try not be so judgmental and come to terms with the fact that everyone's experiences with drugs may not always be the same as your's.

I must admit I have after this last detox done some thinking and have since had only two decent shots of gear in the last week. Feeling more positive about things and more "over it". I can't find my wife of my heart my wife/fiance anywhere though, her phone is off and the guy she was staying with cooked his phone. We haven't really got a way of getting in contact. She's in Sydney around Paramatta somewhere, don't know the dude's address. It's doing my head in. Sorry to ramble.

yes, but you need to do the same. getting away with dangerous behaviours doesn't make them safe; not for you personally or anyone else.
it just means you've been lucky.
saying things are safe when they're not goes against the fundamental harm reduction principles of bluelight.
it's fine to relate your experiences, but heroin (in combination with other downers) isn't something to be blasé about.
i'm not having a go at you, but some of us have lost friends that way.

^ Damn, that's a blow. Must be a shit feeling :( There's still a chance it could be cleared by you naturally though, or otherwise would you consider interferon? All the best.

I guess I'll see what happens when I find out what genotype it is. From what I've read, the general consensus for most people is to wait for the new treatments if you've only been infected for a short period. I'm not sure what's more scary, Interferon or Hep C..
 
Sorry to hear that Ashley :( I just had a test a few weeks ago, it was such a relief that I don't have Hep C after using. I am usually very clean and I've never shared a needle, but who knows if a dealer has shot up, then without washing his hands cut up some stuff to sell? It's a scary thought.

I know of 3 people who's bodies' have created the antibodies (or some such thing) and their own immune system has gotten rid of the virus, so don't give up hope.
 
I've lately started working right near a street in the inner suburbs of Melbourne that is notorious for open air heroin dealing. Just last week I saw a dealer and a customer get busted by some undercover cops. I have also have also been very subtly asked by a couple of guys if I am chasing, whilst walking along there during my lunch break.

I was wondering what people's experience of buying in an open air market in Australia. I have read a bit about it in the US, but as of yet, very little about it in Australia. Whats the quality like compared to ordinary sources? How about fear of arrest? Is what I saw of uncover cops arresting people a rare occurence, or does it happen regularly?

I've bought drugs off the street overseas, and on the very occassion bought pills outside a night club. don't think I would be game on this particular street in Melbourne. seems a bit too dicey. I don't use heroin either, so I guess it is a moot point.
 
I've bought heroin on the streets of Melbourne, but the area I used to go to isn't so obvious anymore, since cameras have been installed, the place where everyone used to wait doesn't seem to be used for that purpose anymore. I still see lots of people who are obviously on it though and I don't think it'd be hard to get asking around. The heroin has been very bad quality and/or small when I've bought it on the street, I hardly think it's worth it. Though one time I bought on the street the dealers handed out clean needles with each water balloon too, thought that was a nice HR touch! Maybe if you were a regular/known you might start getting better deals.
 
I read in the Sunday Herald Sun that Richmond has a new police chief who is targetting drug users and dealers so scoring around that area is probably pretty risky at the moment. It really is a shame that just a few months ago the issue of opening a safe injecting issue was raised but it seems they have totally scrapped that and are going for the tough approach, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised... :\

I don't have a great deal experience scoring on the strret but for me I have never seen or gotten a street deal as good as I would get off a proper connect. Known a few heroin users who got a couple of really potent batches off the street so it can happen, but I would venture to say that it is probably relatively rare in todays day and age.

What does everyone think of heroin? It definitely seems to have more stigma than any other drug, amongst most circles. And so much mystique! Mostly undeserved, imo. Heroin is a lovely drug but it's a subtle high that someone used to their party drugs often does not appreciate. It is completely unlike having 10,000 orgasms at once, or any of that other bullshit drug propoganda - in my experience, at least.

I also think the addictive properties are way overstated. All this 'try it once and you'll think about it every day for the next 20 years' gives heroin a power it just doesn't deserve, I don't think. It's addictive, but depending on your personal preference, probably no more than many other drugs.

When I first tried heroin I built it up to be this huge thing, as it is so often presented even by other drug users, - that this is the drug of all drugs! I'll have reached the pinnacle! Once I try this, I'll never be the same! What a let down. Heroin's just another opie, just another drug.

yes it took me along time to write that post,seriously tho you must get shit gear,you have totally described heroin ass ways with good gear you get an amazing intensly relaxing buzz and you cant stop waffling. also you say heroins not that addictive...so that why only 10-15 percent of people who attempt to quit get past the first year without it.i have smoked and injected and the only difference is with injecting you can od or catch a decease the withdrawals from smoking or injecting are the same

Been using a lot of smack lately, lots of people Od'ing around me too(deaths from NSW and VIC :( ) not sure if its because of a good batch of gear getting around or because they were all prescribed benzo's as well. I think probably the latter.

Just a question out of curiosity. What is the average age of the heroin user in your area?

I am(22) the youngest person ive known on H or opiate maintenaince, I started using opiates at 16-17 and got on maintenaince at 19. The average age of the heroin users around here seems to be somewhere around early to mid-40's but there doesnt seem to be many or any up and comers unlike the speed scene where most of the older users seem to have stopped due to bad health or they have moved on to other things or drugs or they have died. There are still a heap of young people using speed or ice and certainly more young coke users than H. The reason I ask that question is coz I would like to know whether its just my area(kind of remote beach/country town) that the H scene is dying off or whether its in the big cities too? I wonder if heroin use will eventually fade off into nothing or whether sometime along the line we're going to have a big increase in heroin use among younger people.

Funny how young people are so willing to use pharm ope's but heroin is a no-no(until theyre dependent)Just goes to show you how much the average drug user knows about the drugs theyre taking. My prediction is that in Australia sooner or later the younger pill users(not that we have that many, do we?) will move on to heroin once their pill habit becomes too expensive(like mine did) kind of like what happens in America fairly often, kid starts out snortin oxy for fun, moves on to bangin oxy or sniffing H and by the time their 20 their IV'n H daily.

Just trying to get some good conversation going in here :)
