knowledge lol...

Shouldn't we consider going into medicine, or some sort of medical field?

think if every drug user had even just a tiny bit of the knowledge on here. Drugs would probably be all tolerated and shit.

I think the drug use causes people to seek medical attention and there for have knowledge about their medical condition that developed from drug use.

Thats exactly how Ive justified my medical knowledge ^

Which reminds me of a funny little incident that happened last week. Was at my aunts house. My mom, aunt, and uncle were watching some show on TV and I guess the show mentioned some benzo (think it might have been Clonazepam, cant remember exactly though) but they had no idea what it was so my mom called me into the room and asked me what the medication does. I gave a nice thorough answer and my aunt and uncle gave me and my mom a "what the fuck" look. They proceeded to ask how I know that much about a medication that they hadnt even heard of, simply answered "research" and left the room haha. They probably continued asking my mom why Im knowledgeable in the field of medicine.

Lol if they had me working in a pharmacy/hospital the Oxycontin's would constantly go missing. But yeah I know what you mean, I seem to be able to identify most drugs now from anti-depressants to anti-histamines and by now every available analgesic in the country. Comes from years of scouring through electronic pack inserts and drug forums.

I knew about Oxycontin when it was released in my country before some doctors did a few months ago because I read the medical reports lol. Speaking of which I see they've introduced hydromorphone tabs too, that's not something I want to experiment with just yet though.

Pharmacology and biochemistry are two subjects I find very interesting.

Also, I seem to know more about tramadol and benzos than pretty much every doctor I've been to. Oh well.

I actually want to write drug inserts to join my love of pharmacology and my love of writing together into one awesome career. How does one even go about becoming a prescription-insert-writer anyway? Haha

This ^

And/or any other powerful Opiates they have (Oxymorphone, Hydromorphone, etc etc). The Clonazepam would probably go missing too.

Back in Cali whenever I would get into drug dosage and method of action, my then-gf's friends would tell me I should become a Pharmacologist and/or Pharmacy Tech haha.

I think the knowledge is restricted to specific users. I've met a lot of uninterested/dumb as nails drug users over the years. The one's with curiosity and intellect gravitate to places like this; they need intellectual stimulation as part of / to justify / in relation to their drug usage. I think it enhances all aspects of drug culture for some people. Others couldn't give a fuck.

I'm constantly surprised by some of the knowledge people drop on these forums.

It's funny, I did my Nursing training before I ever did a single drug. And slowly developed a taste over 5 years or so. But I gained a great deal of my medical knowledge from places like this, especially in relation to drug pharmacology.

Problem is, having unlimited access to loads of opiates and benzos is a terrible fucking idea for your career prospects.

You get even worse looks if you recite the half-lives of each specific benzo, after naming the brand name along with the generic name of each one. ;) When I get asked about it I just tell them that I have been prescribed most of them and also looked up alternatives, and I say that I always do thorough research about any medications that I am going to put into my body.

I think that a lot of people don't go into the medical field after they realize all the chemistry courses they would need to take. That's probably the biggest factor for most people, drug user or not, when they decide not to pursue that degree. The biology and anatomy classes can be a pain in terms of memorizing all body parts, but chemistry is extremely difficult for a lot of people, and it seems to be something that you either grasp the concept of, or don't. There isn't much in between, although I'm sure that a few people can study their asses off to finally get by the chem courses.

Im one of those people. I honestly have no idea how I passed high school Chemistry. I pretty much did all the work I remotely understood and kissed a lot of ass. Apparently that was enough 8)

I plan on going into the medical field of some sort... I have also always been good at chemistry (not looking forward to taking it again though or organic fml)... I also have everyone tell me that its annoying how much I know about drugs. Mainly my mother and sister but woe is life. However I believe not everyone of us wants to go into the medical field because we just prefer to use drugs and since we use drugs we just end up knowing a lot about them. It doesn't mean we want to make a career out of it.
