has anyone ever been roofied? i think i might have been drugged

i heard the prostitutes and strippers in columbia spike this scopalamine pill in the drinks of their tricks,

"Nevertheless, approximately one in five emergency room admissions for poisoning in Bogotá, Colombia have been attributed to scopolamine.[29] In June 2008, more than 20 people were hospitalized with psychosis in Norway after ingesting counterfeit Rohypnol tablets containing scopolamine.[30]

There have also been reports of tourists being robbed after having scopalamine slipped into their food or drink. Such incidents were reported in Thailand in 2011"
 
^oh dear god that sounds fucking horrible! What if they misdose and you trip out (read: freak the fuck out in delirium) while the whole thing takes place lol

hey just a thought. when people are talking about rough experiences that could have emotionally damaged them, ecspecially in this severity i found it pretty dickish sayin shit like that. just my opinion

It was towards Libby's post. No offense to OP or anyone who has had this experience.
 
It really is shitty to hear not only your story, but the stories of others that likely had similar experiences as well.

I didn't realize this was so (relatively speaking) common. Anyone that would do something of that nature should be castrated.
 
New Year's Eve 2011. I will never be sure, but I went to a pub with two single female friends. One was 8 months pregnant so she obviously wasn't drinking. I hadn't drank heavily that day and had eaten a big dinner. We got to talking to a group of guys, dancing, having a good time, etc. One guy in particular was H-O-T and did not seem at all creepy. He asked what we were drinking - vodka and cranberry - and bought both my friend and me a drink. Note that as I take Rx benzodiazepines for anxiety/panic, the test would have been positive. Whatever was in that drink, though, was NOT just alcohol. It felt more like 2cb if anything. I was getting open-eye visuals and a head load. Things started really spinning. My friend had the same symptoms. We told our pregnant friend what happened, all of us went home, and she kept an eye on us. I was definitely tripping.

I am glad we got home safely and that things did not go any worse. The next day I felt a little woozy but fine.

harlans - that completely sucks what happened to you. Stay away from that creeper at ALL costs! And this is advice for everyone - don't take a drink from a stranger if you're not sitting at the bar right next to them. If you choose to drink, it is best that you drink with people you know and trust. Not always practical, I know, but there's a lot to be said for the buddy system.

I've known a handful of people who were unwittingly dosed. My best friend (a gay man) had something similar happen to him at a party; he believes from past experience it was GHB/GBL.

I love GHB, One New Years day I woke up naked locked in a room with permanent marker all over me, things like "Macenroe was here", but it doesn't count coz I dosed myself and took my own clothes off and after I passed out my friends just wrote on me to be funny then locked me in one of the bedrooms so I'ld be safe.

When I used to work at showgirls back like 7 years ago, some jackass spiked one of the girls drinks, but luckily she passed out backstage before he could take her to a private lapdance room, lucky coz she was a virgin and such a sweet nieve girl, it would've destroyed her. Fucking Bastard didn't even get charged coz when the cops got there we wern't able to prove it was him.
 
Its a shame how often things like this happen. This doesnt include guys who just take advantage of girls who are intoxicates by their own means. Its people who do shit like this that make it hard to just go out and have fun with people.
So Libby, when my probations up and i get my passport, can i come to "the land down under" and get a tour of the awesomeness ive heard so much about from others?
 
Sure, but you know I'm in NZ not Australia (Australia is generally the country referred to as "the land down under"), and it's not very awesome here... Your presence could make it so though <3 <3 Or if you wanted to travel round both you could pick me up on your way to Aussie, I love it there.

As far as castration goes, I'd say that's fitting. After doing more research this happens a lot by men who can't get it up. And it happens quite a bit in the gay community but it almost never gets reported because the ignorant masses think that if you're a gay man you obviously want to fuck every male you see (or don't see).

I'm lucky that I just moved away from where that guy lives. I did warn one of my best girlfriends to watch her friends around him, tho. Once I got here (new state) I blocked him on fb and blocked his #from my phone. Even though he's so many miles away I was still scared to make such a bold move.

My apologies. :) early spring of 2013 is when my papers expire so i look forward to that date when they dismiss my charges and i'm free again. By then i should have some money saved for a nice vacation, a much needed one at that point. Its been too long since i left this god awful country called the US of A. Im sure New Zealand and Australia will be a great time, especially with a friendly "tour guide" ;)
 
I've been drugged, in Estonia. I was a complete idiot, but in my naïveté I figured that this young chap who took 3 hours of his time to help a poor tourist find a weed hookup wasn't gonna double-cross me. He probably made some sort of commission off the weed, I figured. Before retiring to my hotel the guy suggested we go grab a beer or two. I only remember drinking the first beer, and ordering a second one... Next thing I know, the bartender is giving me an impatient shove, and says "It's closing time. Your friends left already."

I felt really fuzzy, much more drunk than I should have been, and stumbled out of the bar, dumbfounded. I then checked my wallet to find that all the money and bank cards were gone (but the asshole did leave me useless shit like old library cards, discoun thiings and whatnot). Around 300€, two debit cards, and the added fuck-you of missing my flight in the morning - another 300€ to get a new one.

Then again, from what I've heard I might have even got lucky. The run-down neighborhoods or ghettos on the East side of Tallinn are apparently quite a dangerous place after dark.
 
The chance of getting "roofied" or having flunitrazepam slipped into your drink is so remote that it is very highly unlikely. If you think you were drugged flunitrazepam would be one of the less commonly used drugs to drug others. Just because there were a couple of high profile incidents that involved the drug more than 13 years ago it doesn't mean that everytime someone gets drugged its a roofie that was dropped in the drink. In all likelihood it would be GHB or ketamine. If it is a benzo, then it is probably something that is not flunitrazepam. According to research conducted by Michael Robertson from the San Diego Medical Examiner's office and Dr. Mahmoud El Sohly of El Sohly Laboratories, test results indicate that temazepam and midazolam are the two main culprits among benzos. No smart criminal worth his salt would use a long-acting benzo (like flunitrazepam) that stays in a victims system for a lengthy period of time to commit date rape. Roofies are a terrible choice.

well, thanks for that. i was, in fact, using the term "roofie" as a catch all. not trying to say that rohypnal was in fact the drug used. ironically, these situations happened in san diego

This is true and makes perfect sense, and it's exemplary of how the media operates - however I've grown to accept "to roofie" as a verb that represents the entire practice of spiking someone's drink with a sedative, much like Xerox for photocopying or ZigZags being a 'generic' term for rolling papers.
I think the last time there was a discussion like this, a mod thought we were venturing dangerously close to WikiHow: Date Rape!. Most reports I've read unequivocally name GHB as the most common culprit.
 
Yeah im pretty sure being "roofied" is a generic term for being drugged without consent for alterior, possibly malicious, motives. Other examples for generalized terms are: down south dark sodas are all "coke", kleenex for "facial tissue", scotch tape for clear plastic adhesive, "duck tape" for all purpose tapes (mispronunciation of "duct" orginially), q tips for cotton swabs, or for drug term: ecstacy for all MDXX formulations, or according to the media all opiates/opioids are forms of "synthetic heroin" or all hallucinogens are "similar to lsd". These are just terms to simplify things that could become over complicated. Stop nit-picking on specifics, it comes off negative and possibly insulting to these people who've been through trauma.
