I once had a barn owl do that in the beam from my headlights, it flew up ahead on a straight road for about half a mile. Its a good thing it was a straight rd as I was mesmerised.
 
Nah no peregrines round this way, only ever seen one in London of all places, central London at that. And yeah, a buzzard hitting the windscreen down a country lane at 7am makes a fucking big bang...and a bit of shit yerself excitement too. The one that hit the windscreen just flew straight at me for about 50 yards I saw it coming.

And I'm rubbish at fish btw. :\

haha. but do not misunderestimate the tenacity of a wannabe engineer with lots of time on his hands and access to various stainless steel materials designed for subsea offshore purposes. :D

i dealt with the pigeon threat in a humane manner last summer. so a couple of squirrels present no foreseeable problems, unless they begin to evolve diamond teeth.

very lucky to have them they are only in 4.8 % of gardens and one is my Mums !!!

we had an owl growing up, we seen it on the road side as my dad was heading to work and it was there once we were heading home, so we took it home. the cats hated us as we used to pounce on them for any mice they came in with, but after a couple of years my brothers let it go, it used to come back to our gard each year for about 4 years, never seen it after that :( but buzzards they are about a lot. often see them sitting on posts, never een them hunting or even scavanging on dead animals, have seen eagles and sea eagles and wow they are an amazing sight. :D

The Blackbirds around here are collecting all sorts they seem to like to use discarded plastic to line their nests i've noticed over the years.
 
Sweet ass red kites!! What bit of the country u from SHM? I hear they're spreading ever further from Wales across the country. I'm near SW Brum and have heard of a few seen here but I've not seen any yet.

Lots of chiffchaffs tweeting and shagging. I saw a beautiful barn owl on my way home from scoring tonight. It swooped dramatically over the motorway. Stunning thing. I also had the pleasure off seeing a kestrel right up close the other day, only about 5 feet away. They're bigger than you think and the blue 'mask' over their eyes is wonderful.
 
Brilliant sight just now. Standing on my doorstep admiring the sunshine when suddenly WHOOSH sparrowhawk comes flying down the middle of the road, just like a car except 6 inches above the ground, executes a 180 at full speed, comes flying back towards me before doing a Harrier jump jet take off impersonation followed by a plunge, at high speed, into the middle of a thick hedgerow. Cue a hundred hedge sparrows (Brimz's favourite, dunnocks) flying into the air screaming for mercy. Exit left Mr sparrowhawk with an unfortunate bairn in his gob.

Far out.

Their a fantastic addition to the city and attract a fair few visitors .
When one of them fledged last year me n a pal spent all day waiting for him to make his flight.
They certainly don't go easy on the pigeons that for sure.
 
Spotted a pair of shelducks on the beach the other day, not seen them here before. It's usually oyster catchers by the ton lol plus the odd cormarant and shag =D

I was impressed - really must read up on the waders / sea birdsi haven't a clue about them. And the beach is minutes away from us, no excuse.

My cat has got hold of 2 blackbird fledgelings this week, just one left on the nest.
