Best legal stuff to help relax

sedating antihistamines ? doxylamine/promethazine ? but to be honest i would suggest no drugs , just a healthy lifestyle , even try it for a few days . i started a break from weed (unintentionally at first) 7-8 days ago , and its worked wonders , my life/mental/physical health is better in every single way , just by stopping smoking weed , which in turn has given me the motivation to do recreational activities/exersice and work on myself , and what wonders its worked !

damiana (herb) relaxes me, i smoke it, but i imagine it would be alot more relaxing in a tea.

Personally I've never observed any effects from damiana or passion flower, but valerian is a fairly potent sedative, particularly in tincture form as alcohol enhances it's sedative properties, it's sold in all supermarkets, herb stores and pharmacies in pill form, but about 6 pills does the same for me as 10ml of the tincture, it's the most potent herbal sedative available in Australia but the pills aren't nearly as effective, they might be more effective if washed down with a shot of spirits though. Chamomile is good if you just want something mildly relaxing, but if I have more than 2 cups of the tea I start feeling really sick... but there is an observable albeit mild calming effect.

Personally I'd take valerian if you just want to go to sleep, for mild calming effects without the sedation I recommend chammomile, skullcap and marijuanilla/dagga flowers.
If you can get Kava, go for it. I've never been able to find it myself. It can cause liver damage if used long term though, particularly if it's the low grade stuff made with the leaves and stems included.

There is a thread over in the healthy living forum , based on this , except the OP wanted to aquire the same effects as Valium through natural/herbal/dietary means . He ended out succeeding with combinations of supplements and herbs all that kinda shit .

there are some great anxiety-alleviating exercises that can be achieved with breathing and body awareness techniques.
nothing too new-age either - i was shown them by a psychologist who specialised in trauma counselling, and have shown one in particular to a friend that has a lot of problems with anxiety. depends what sort of 'relaxation' is being sought. meditation is said to be very useful to some folks, and i have been intending to explore it further to help manage my sleep issues.

i've just realised how extremely old this thread is and how the OP seems to be banned. haha, oh well.

Have you had many side effects from using only phenergan to sleep , when out of Xanax. I had a bad episode of getting this scared jumping reaction like a twitch times 100. And bad halucinations. And this is only on day 1 of 3 day smoking cycle lol. Have you have funny reactions to it?

^ just went for a work out before (started working out again yesterday :) ) , about to have a hot shower and a good wank too haha , not familiar with meditation though any1 got some links or something for some easy meditation techniques ?

Phenibut is a legal supplement and works well, pretty similar to Valium some even compare it to GHB although it takes a while to kick in and can give very vivid dreams. I once dosed about 5 grams (pretty high dose) and even after strong coffee I was out for about 15 hours. I now only dose 2 grams and it seems to give a pretty relaxing feeling for a good 6-8 hours.

There is heaps on youtube, on the side note stretching is way better for relaxation than meditation IMO. It actually works physically and mentally. Look into P90X stretch X program on the TPB.

I've found meditation prob the one thing that's helped more than anything when it comes to dealing with anxiety and panic attacks. I don't have any links but it's fairly simple to start. I do 'mindfullness' meditation which is about living in the current moment, the idea being that depression can be caused or heightened by focusing on the past, and anxiety by focusing on the future.

The way to do it is close your eyes, and focus your attention on the sensation of breathing - the feel of air on your nose, in your throat, your tummy moving out or any other part of the breath. Once your attention is there simply think to yourself 'breathing in' when you breath in, 'breathing out' when you breathe out. Keep your attention on your breath, and when your attention wanders, label it, such as 'thinking', hearing', 'sensation' and so on, then gently draw your attention back to the breath. Do this for however long you want, starting at 5 mins is fine, I usually just set an alarm on my phone for however long I want to do it.

It's such a useful technique, whenever you find yourself feeling anxious, depressed or any other negative emotion, you can bring your awareness back to the present - what you're seeing, hearing etc at that very moment. I find it really helps decrease the intensity of any bad feeling. Once you're not worrying about how long you'll feel shit for, how you'll stop it, feeling guilty about mistakes you've made or worrying about how to improve your future, you realise that the present moment is very short and feeling bad for just a moment is much easier to deal with. You don't have to worry about what you'll feel like in the next moment until it comes, and again, you can deal with it then, and so on.

yeah i've had some twitching from taking big dose's of phenrg.you'll be laying there then all of a sudden your leg will fly in the air n scare the shit out of you.I've also had mild LSD like visuals off 125mg+ dose's,does annyone know what causes the visuals???

alcohol is legal

I wouldn't consider alcohol at all relaxing though (for me at least), it makes me wilder most the time lol

I'd say the begs legal substance that I've had for relaxation would probably be kratom, but it's so unpredictable how it'll affect you each time though sometimes it's relaxing and other times it's more stimulating

intense physical activity.
meditation.
hot shower.
a good wank.

These are all a hugely hugely beneficial way to help relax the body and mind. Yoga is also another option, and helps with the stretching that sustanon suggested, and in itself is quite a powerful form of active meditation, not to mention a bloody good body workout. Breathing exercises also do wonders, and help to restore a natural and healthy level of oxygen flow to your body, which relaxes you. Bath salts(the REAL ones) with a nice warm bath are also bloody brilliant, and always help to calm me down after stressful day. Chamomile tea is also great for helping to relax especially before bed. And taking Magnesium tablets before bed can help quite a bit if you get restless while trying to fall asleep.

But to be brutally honest. Not sure if the OP is hard into it or not, but quitting drugs will do you wonders with helping you to relax. Sure, the initial stages of drug withdrawal from pretty much all non-herbal drugs can be really fucking hard, and the exact opposite of "relaxing". But once you move past that stage and the haze begins to clear, not only can you think more clearly in your day to day life, but you stress less, and feel less of a need to have that relax at the end of the day, cos you're already relaxed. And also, once you quit drugs, you begin to notice that the herbal drugs actually do work quite well, especially if you believe they will. Most people who use recreational drugs pretty much convince themselves themselves that the herbal stuff doesn't work before they have ever tried it. And then instead of taking it for what it is, they try to compare it with the drug counterparts, which is useless. It's like comparing coffee to apples. Coffee gives you an instant hit of caffeine, wakes you up. But apples also work really well for waking you up, but not in the same way that coffee does. So to compare the two, is useless. Especially if you already believe that the apple won't work!

Hope that helps. Just a little advice from someone who is in the process of clearing a life of anxiety/depression and 10 year drug habit out of my life. I recently realised that pretty much every mental and physical problem I have had these last 10 years, is directly linked back to my drug use. I refused to believe this was the case for a very long time. I have only now begun to see that for years I was fooling myself that recreational drugs were the only way to calm my nerves, it was quite the opposites, they were the cause of my nervous body and mind. Now I see I was wrong, and am looking forward to learning more about herbal remedies!

but yeh, if you are looking for normal "legal" otc counter drugs, just to help relax, as another form of taking a drug, then many of the things listed here work great too. kava especially. melatonin also helps, and helps to regulate sleeping patterns, which in turn helps you sleep properly, which has the benefit of you feeling more relaxed during the day! you should be able to get melatonin prescribed pretty easily by a doctor. you want the medical grade melatonin, which comes in much greater doses and purity that some homeopathic remedies!

enjoy relaxing, whatever method you choose. everyone should just fukn relax aye!!
