Does anyone know if the 80mg oxycodone er's are being made? I'm a chronic pain patient and I have just switched from the plans 40mg to the 80mg oxycodone er's and I can't get them filled. Are they still on the market?I'm also prescribed to the oxycodone 40mg er and I can't find them either. Are they out there? I was told teva however I can't get them. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm are of the name brand oxycontin I've had 40,80 &160mg of those, I want generic? There used to be a generic for the oxycontin by teva and endo but nobody has em, best I can tell is that Perdue blocked all generics and the oxycontin are the only thing available. Can anyone confirm that the generics are being produced? If so please lmk the mfg because I have to get them filled asap but endo and teva seem to have stopped the oxycodone 80 & 40. URGENT!

Yes generic 80's are available here in the uk I am also a chronic pain patient. Try different pharmacies.

There are no generic versions of OxyContin in the US. They had done away with generics a year or two before the reforumation, and they won't be available anytime soon since there is a new patent on the OP OxyContin. So the answer seems to be that if you are in the US or Canada you can't get generics, but if you are from another country you can.

there is a new patent on the OP OxyContin

Something tells me that reformulating the OG oxycontins wasn't primarily for public health and addiction issues, but rather mainly for profits and for improved public relations...

YA! Wow that's so fucked up. Oxycontin is VERY expensive. Just tell your doctor the truth. It's mad expensive, theres no generics...you need a script for roxicodone. Theres like 3 different genrics for roxicodone ALOT cheaper. (at the pharmacy anyway...on the street it's the opposite.)

Right now in the US the brand name Oxycontin has prevailed in a lawsuit which resulted in the removal of all the generic Oxycontin availability. Even the makers of the brand name Oxycontin that had their own generic stopped production and then did a recall to get back what was out there from pharmacies so for a short time there was some of the generic non OP type available but that was put to a stop as well. Now the brand Oxycontin has their Patent well in place and is probably going to be another 2-3 years until we see generics available once again. Hopefully there will be some of the old style OC's rather than the new OP's. It is difficult to say what the regulatory agencies and the pharmaceutical companies will do. They may reproduce copies of the OP's to keep with the concern for public safety and the abuse of snorting and or shooting up the pills as was once commonplace. On the other hand greed could lead to the intentional distribution of the old style of the drug which would once again allow for those who like the old style drug to get their hands on it and make far stiffer competition for the brand name. Some pain doctors are aware of this and may prescribe "OP only". I had a pain doctor do this to me, however no longer have that issue as their are no other brands available and should they become available my relationship with my pharmacist would likely allow that part to be "overlooked". Personally I do not take as many as I am prescribed but if I were able to would grind them up and either ingest or occasional snort smaller amounts. Perhaps this is "abuse" but on the other hand I am taking far less than I am prescribed as those methods result in my needing to take less. Is that really wrong?

Other countries of course have their own situation. This is only for the US and what I have been able to gather from manufacturers and pharmacists.

It is not always what is best for the patient. For example I also take Actiq (Fentanyl pops) and they have about a teaspoon of sugar in each pop which my dentist said is harming my teeth. They got a version that contained an non sugar artificial sweetener approved for sale but ended up never making it for some reason. I don't know if they felt that having sugar made it not taste as good as the competition or if they though since these were mainly for cancer patients that they would die anyway so their dental health was of little concern or just making two versions was too costly but I would be taking them if available. There is so much corruption in the drug industry that I am never confident that decisions are made on a rational basis.

The only thing I disagree with is your pharmacist "over looking" that. For example Im prescribed xanax. I asked for 30 2mg's instead of 60 1mg's and they can't do it. What it says is what it says.
