Has anyone else noticed that when you pop say 4 percs or do just a 20mg oxycodone, the percs seem to be stronger even thought they both have 20mg oxycodone. My tolerance to opiates isnt really high so i do 4 percs and get a pretty nice high but whenever i get a 40mg or 80mg oxycontin and divide it so i do 20mg, it just dosent seem to effect me as much as the 4 percocets.

Can the percs really be stronger becasue of the apap combined with oxy or is this all just in my head lol. I just noticed whenever i get a 40 or 80mg oxy ( never gotten a 20mg yet) and do seperate doses of 20mg, it just dosent feel that strong.

If you are in pain, this could be because the APAP is giving you minor pain relief, allowing the oxy to be more euphoric than it normally is. Also, if you tend to have higher stomach acidity than normal, the APAP is "taking the hit," partly at least, and allowing your Oxy to pass through your stomach in to your GI unscathed.

The acetaminophen synergizes with oxycodone, enhancing its effects slightly. What you are experiencing is completely normal. Some people even prefer to have some acetaminophen with their opiates for this reason, when they are using a pure form of whatever drug.

^ Wat?

Maybe Oxy is crap to you, but it is plenty powerful for others to get high on and even hopelessly addicted to.

I noticed this too... taking 4-5 percocets (5/325) provided a much stronger effect than taking 20-25mg of roxicodone.

Nope. OXy is crap. Everyone knows this. It's all in your head.

Based on your subjective experience. While Oxycodone is by no means a great medication, in terms of recreation and abuse... It sure is popular.

Best taken as directed by your doctor, if you notice one medication being more or less effective than another, mention this to your pain management doctor.

All opioids are addictive, doesn't matter what it is, morphine, hydro/oxycodone, hydro/oxymorphone, or even codeine, etc.

oxycontin is controlled release so it delivers a smaller dose over a longer period of time

@OP Are you referring to 20mg OxyContin (Oxycodone ER)

I think you guys just got trolled a bit, heh.

Anywhoo, when I had no tolerance a couple a perc 5's would hit me much harder than a 10mg pink Oxy pill. I noticed this immediately, verified it anecdotally several times, and realized simply that APAP for whatever reason slightly enhances the effects of Oxycodone. I wouldn't say it's potentiation, but something is occurring where you'll feel more from the percs than the oxy, until you blow out your tolerance of course.

Being in pain reduces the euphoria from opioids significantly. As much as people whine and moan about APAP, it is not completely worthless, and gives a small amount of analgesia, enough to let the opioids be marginally more euphoric.

When I broke my ribs at 20 years old, I took my first opiate dose ever. It was 4mg IV Morphine in the hospital, equivalent to 16mg of oral hydrocodone. This should floor any first timer, but I felt absolutely no euphoria or "high" from it, just a significant reduction in pain. When the pain started to go away several weeks later, is when I felt some amount of euphoria from hydrocodone.

I can verify this too. The concept Ergic is talking about is one of the contributing factors to my addiction. I have a ruptured disc, 3 other herniated discs, disk dessication disease on my entire spine, and impacted nerve roots feeding down my legs. Before I had my six treatments, I was in so much pain no amount of Oxycodone made me feel "high" it just helped the pain. This was all before I started developing a large tolerance, and as some kind of compulsive decision, I began popping higher and higher amounts of Oxycodone around this time in my life because I wanted to both receive pain relief and feel the euphoria. This led to my 250mg/day peaking some days at 300mg habit that I'm coming off of right now.

Obviously people have had much deeper habits, but this one was bad enough for me...
