Bupe Suboxone Withdrawal Question

Been coming to this site for a long time and finally decided to register. My first post hopefully doing this the proper way. If not, my apologies.

I am debating whether or not to continue with Suboxone. I took 4mg 24hrs ago and feel fine. I was wondering if anyone that has used Suboxone for a short taper had little to no withdrawal symptoms after stopping? I only used for a month and my daily dosage was no more than 60-90mgs of Oxycodone a day. I have been reading various forums and I have yet to find someone who has used a relatively small amount of opiates for a short amount of time AND used Suboxone as a short term detox. I've read horror stories about Suboxone w/ds from people detoxing from high doses of opiates for long periods of time and were using Suboxone long term. Just wondering if there have been those in my situation that haven't had a negative experience once coming off of the subs. Cause after doing a lot of reading I'm starting to second guess whether I should just try and kick cold turkey rather than deal with a longer drawn out WDs once coming off the subs. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Welcome to Bluelight :)

Suboxone has got a LONG half life. Probably just still feel it.

Just see where it goes. If you feel OKAY then don't use. If you go into w/d's and want relief. Than take less to taper. Like 2mg. Try cutting back by 50% after every dose if 4mg is lasting you this long.

Your post is fine, you've obviously been around long enough to know the rules, and I thank you for that.

As for suboxone, I have used it many times for a rapid detox. I've kicked a habit of 100mg+ oxycodone/day with a total of 8mg buprenorphine (one suboxone 8mg) and yes I was uncomfortable but in terms of WD symptoms it was exponentially better than cold turkey.
Day 1: 4mg
Day 2: 2mg
Day 3: 1mg
Day 4: 0.5mg
Day 5: 0.25mg
Day 6: 0.25mg
Day 7: Done.

It's more comfortable to do a slightly longer taper, but rapid taper works too.

Thank you. My main concern is the withdrawals from the Subs using a quick taper. If I'm gna suffer WDs I would just get it over with and wd from the opiates rather than a prolonged wd process with Subs. Does anyone think I would be okay in my case?

Once again I think you should take it by ear. Why get back on opiates when by some off chance you may not need too?

I didn't experience withdrawals from using suboxone for 6 days, in diminishing doses. It builds up in your system like methadone due to it's long half life.

But if you'd rather just get it over with, withdrawal from 60-90mg oxycodone is really not that bad. It's intense for a few days and then it's a walk in the park compared to other WDs.

Thanks everyone. I'm just gna hold off on any subs until I really need them. I think that is the best course. Its been almost 28hrs since my initial dose and I'm feeling a little discomfort but it's not unbearable.
If anyone else has any additional feedback please feel free to respond. I'll update my progress so I may help answer any questions anyone else may have in the future.

It is possible. I've known many people who did it successfully and with relative ease. Follow Tricomb's taper plan and you should be good.

I didn't catch exactly how long you've been taking the suboxone and at what dosage, both of those things play a major role in trying to determine how bad your withdrawal is going to be. I assume that you've just got on the suboxone though. I think your plan to hold off until you become noticeably uncomfortable is a good one. What you should do though, is dose 2mg next, and see how long that holds you (it will certainly take you out of withdrawal). Then either follow the rapid taper schedule, or continue to try and hold out as long as you can, but lower the dose of sub you take each time. Buprenorphine is active in dosages way under a milligram, so don't think that taking .5 bupe is a waste.

I had a time where I took a 8mg pill after a few months of using, and I barely experienced any withdrawals after that. I had a night of two of sleep trouble and my appetite wasn't quite what it normally was, but other than that I was fine. You might be the same way but with the 4mg instead of the 8mg. Basically what I'm saying is some people find a single higher dose to be better than 3-4 days of lower doses, so I wouldn't really plan on redosing unless you really need to, so play it by ear like others have said.

Your wd/s should be a PIECE OF CAKE! thats the truth... ween down and just stop . . you'll feel a little sluggish and flu-like ish ... but you got no problems man!

Oh yeah, by the way, as ZNeg mentioned, you should try and wait as long as possible between dosing. Don't wait til full WD, but don't take it if you're feeling like you could go without.

Are you using suboxone strips or tablets? What ROA do you intend to use? Sublingual?

My first dose of Suboxone was Monday at 6pm EST. I took a half of an 8mg tab sublingually.

Try tapering it. You can always raise your dose back up if you get too sick, so what do you have to lose? I do know of several people who used a short-term taper for Suboxone who said that the withdrawal symptoms were really not very bad. The longer you take it the worse they will get, so if you're confident that you won't go back to using other opiates, why not try to get off the Suboxone as soon as you can?

I was taking about 4mg a day for basically 4-5 months .. I had pretty bad W/Ds for 8 hours. literally 8 hours. and that was it.

Thats good to no. Ive been on suboxone for 2 weeks I posted and have been following tricombs advice. I just started skipping days. Even if u need to take crumbs after skipping a day. But im coming off a strong physical and mental addiction. I dont really want to stop sub because after all this x i k ow ill eventually go. Back. Ive never been right after opiate abuse. And personally if uv only been using for a month. Than get off everything. Taper. And the minimal withdrawals wil be nothing. Maybe something if u have never experianced other withdrawals. Quick ? Did dr give u suboxone after only a month on opiate

ive tapered with suboxone from a huge habit(prescribed) i just wanted to try to re gage my pain but id only say take the shit like 5 days at most the suboxone that is and since you already took 4 mg keep goin down the next couple of days.. i have a high pain tolerance so i didnt feel shit and i get horrible WDs

Well I took my second dose at 3am this morning as I was having moderate WDs. I took 2mg this time and I felt "okay", but now I'm starting to get restless and anxious and some mild sweating. My first dose of 4mg lasted me 33hrs before I needed to take my second dose. The 2mg dose is starting to wear off in 18hrs. I guess that's probably normal right? I know I probably sound like a big pu$$y, not wanting to feel any discomfort at all but I know it's impossible. What sucks is that I'm trying to keep my WDs from my girlfriend. She has been with me through my many addictions and she swore to me that she would leave me if I ever picked up again. I have battled with cocaine for most of our relationship. I then tried opiates 2.5 years ago and had a really bad habit with them that lasted 15 months. My WDs were horrific and I swore I would never pick up opiates again...but here I am a year later goon thru another wd for a stupid one week binge! The reason why I picked up was that I have been chronically depressed since I came off opiates a year ago and just wanted some relief from that. Well how did that work out for me?

BEE POLLEN GRANUALS found in the refridgerator at natural food stores! Amazing, amazing, amazing! I dont know why more people arent talking about this to ease withdrawals. After 8 days if suffering i tried it today and i feel AMAZING! PASS THE WORD
