Psychedelics seem to make me want to enjoy my sober mind more. In other words, they make me want to steer clear of drugs in general (weed, alcohol, uppers, even MDMA). I find this to be pretty awesome and rewarding.

It certainly is. Dissociatives seemed to express this propery the most for me. MXE profoundly changed the way I view my drug usage for the better. An LSD experience actually influenced me to lead a sober life. Two weeks later that dream was cut short.

Months later, my 'internal wiring alteration' from the last MXE dose has been reinforced time and time again through rejecting offers for certain drugs which caught me in a web and weren't keen on letting me go. Psychedelics are wonderful tools, my friend.

Yes! Dissociatives are different though. Dexed, I'm surprised at what you've found. Whatever dissociative I try, I always get that feeling the next day... 'could do with a bit of that again'. I suppose this has something to do with their addictive nature, but also I have a generally pretty addictive personality which I've had various levels of success at controlling at different times of my life. For a good while after using a psychedelic is one of those times where I have much more success :)

Have you never heard of people using methadone? Or some people recovering from alcoholism with things such as MDMA and psychedelics? What a stupid post -_-

I think at its core, psychedelia is anti-drug. It's the same sort of thing that religions are looking for, and it's lasting if you do it for yourself. psychedelics can help.. I guess I can tell when my body isn't clean, and my mind, too. Even psychedelics, I hardly even take drugs anymore.

Haha, sorry... trying to give up smoking (tobacco). Little cranky.

Perhaps some LSD will help :p

My interpretation of this effect is that psychedelics don't inherently make you want to stop using drugs. You probably already had the idea somewhere in your mind, if only at the subconscious level. Taking psychedelics brings your subconscious mind to the forefront, so the thought of wanting to stop using drugs becomes predominant.

Nothin' I like more than gettin' my drink on during the comedown phase of a trip. And occasionally prior that. Cannabis goes will with psychs as well, and dissociatives, and GBL, and tobacco, and... point being psychs haven't changed my non-psych drug habits.

It's always nice to hear when a trip inspires someone to live a healthier life though. :)

MXE makes me enjoy my sober mind, but that's what makes me enjoy MXE.

I'll explain it better another time, lol.

Well there is some truth in this, although I wouldn't say it will make you stop doing drugs, i against i said it nicely :D , it can make you replace "hard" drugs with psychs which are generally easier on the body.
I've heard a lot ex heroin addicts started smokin weed, I think we all agree its better to do weed than dope (and I dont like weed anymore personally).

But I have to say, this thread is typical for psychedelic heads. You people often think you aren't doing drugs, well you are, just different kind of drugs omg.

^ haha true, but in defense of "psychedelic heads" as you so beautifully described, Psychedelics are a class of drugs that throw you INTO life, whereas most other drugs I can think of pull you OUT of life.

Maybe, after all I haven't heard of anyone selling his TV to get money for LSD lol.. it just don't happen with these drugs.

I see what you're driving at. The point is, sometimes psychedelics can make people want to spend more time sober, or use drugs in a more respectful/responsible way than they were before. I don't think anyone here is stupid enough to delude themselves that tripping (even if only occasionally) counts as 'not doing drugs'.

C'mon.

You'd think so ;) I actually came across 2 tripping guys who told me "you cant overdose so its not a drug, you feel so good, its safer than cigarettes!". Sure none of them was very bright but I don't think they are total exceptions either. Especially with weed this is problem, lots of people think its absolutely harmless.

Maybe just not in your social group? I don't personally know any people like that, but I did know a few who ruined their career trajectories by failing out of school because they were much more interested in tripping and smoking pot. If you consider career as important, it's relevant.

Psychedelics played a massive role in me quitting ice and cleaning up my life , also after being up for days and days and experiencing psychosis it would convince me to stop more .

The main thing was LSD though , it made me see everything from such a better perspective and just gave me more ammunition to stop .

I've never felt that psychedelics made me want to stop taking any drugs, aside from when I was drinking too often and I decided to cut down due to a particular trip. I also find in general that phenethylamines have little affect on my other drug intake, but if I'm looking to cut down or stop a particular substance, whether temporarily or permanently, the afterglow from a wonderful tryptamine trip is a great starting point and makes it almost as easy as if I hadn't ever touched the substance before :)
