Hep C

can hep c be past on through sex?

I've spoken to many doctors through my treatment about this. The general consensus is no. Though there are factors like open woulds on the genitals or rectum that would cause transmission. I've been with the same partner for two years and she has never contracted Hep C. If your sleeping with numerous partners you should be using protection regardless.

everyone i know that has gone thru interferon treatments says it is complete hell. they tell me that its like having the flu x 100, that it leaves you extremely tired, nauseous, and just makes you feel shitty.

i know i have to confront the problem with a vengence sooner or later, as another poster said, im pretty much in denial. there have been SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many things going on in my life that i simply dont have the physical (had 12 vertebrae fused 8 months ago) emotional (i will spare you those details) or mental strength to confront it right now.

this is pretty much the situation that i'm in, admittedly. with the exception of the vertebrae issue, of course, which i'm sure is terrible to deal with, so major props there...

i'm kind of at one of those points in my life where i know i need to do about 1000 things, and once i do, i'll be back on track, better...

but everyone knows how hard it is to begin an uphill battle, let alone 4 or 5 uphill battles at the beginning of the war you know is the rest of your life...

bad metaphor, but ya get the idea.

on a positive note, ever since i realized i had gotten hep c, i have been reading up a lot, as much as i can find about it, the drugs to treat it, the drugs that arent approved yet...

what id REALLY like is to get on some kind of drug trial, i'd be a great candidate, having never been treated before... heh. that would be ideal, but we all know how infrequent ideal situations are... so yeah, i suppose i'm waiting for these new drugs to come onto the market, then try that out.

as far as the clinics you looked up for me, dokomo, thank you. theres actually like one or two i didnt know about, and i will check those out, as i havnt actually been to a doctor since i had my blood drawn for the methadone clinic entrance exam.. and i didnt get much of a workup then. so even just getting a checkup would be a good idea, let alone starting to deal with the hep c...

a couple of those are church-run clinics, and scare the living shit out of me, because i'm not exactly their ideal patient, and theyre not exactly my ideal doctors... cult churches are terrifying, i have a tarot card tattoo, so if the history of drug use and hep c isnt enough for them to automatically hate me, i've got a nice pagan symbol on my forearm for 'em to look at... ha.

can hep c be past on through sex?Or is it only through blood.

You can get Hep C from rimming or eating ass, that is how a friend of mine got it.

You can also get it if you have unprotected anal sex or if you get fisted/fist without gloves, and share sex toys without condoms but the anus can tear or bleed easily.

If you do B&D/S&M with very heavy whipping where there's blood or you have sex involving cutting/needles or blood there's a possibility you can get Hep C from that.

Yes you will get judgement from church-run clinics but they do offer free testing.

what about when people share notes for blowing lines?

Most of my friends do this and I used to in the past but only with my friends but it makes me paranoid thinking about germs and some of the people who mite of handled your money so I dont do it no more, but my friends don't seem to care because it goes up easier using a note than from sniffing it on your hand.

If someone has a cut in there nose ( which is highly probable from sniffing cocaine or whatever substance) than yes, it could could be transmitted in theory. Just be safe, use your own equipment for drugs and sex. It's not worth the risk, at all.

You can't get hep C from rimming or eating arse. Hep A is transmitted in this way, but hep C is only transmitted through blood to blood contact.

The first time I ever went in for an STD test I was diagnosed with Hep C, but luckily it turned out to be a false positive. The antibody test was a fase positive and the subsequent PCR test was negative. Unfortunately, I had to wait 3 weeks to learn this, so during that 3 weeks I was prepped by doctors for all of the lifestyle changes that I would be facing, in addition to treatment options. So here is what I know:

--> avoid alcohol at all costs, it accelerates the disease 100 fold
--> avoid fatty and greasy food like fast food because your liver must process this; stick to good fats like polyunsaturates, fish oils, etc.
--> avoid infecting others by not sharing things like hair brushes, razors, nailclippers, toothbrushes, etc; even though sexual transmission is low it's still a possible so always wear a rubber; and never share needles!
--> increase your intake of fresh veggie juices from: kale, broccoli, beets, carrots, sprouts, fresh beans, etc. as these will keep the liver cleaned out and healthy
--> moderate exercise gets your white blood cell count higher
--> your doc will probably recommend a 1 year course of interferon and ribaviron to sent the illness into remission; these treatments are not to be taken lightly and the biggest side effects are major depression and fatigue

It can be beaten it's just going to take some time. Good luck!

Are you sure about that? The PCR test looks for the actual viral RNA itself and is even more fool proof than the antibody test.

In my case, it was a clerical error at the lab that processed my blood sample. The test came back negative but on the report the clerk accidentally wrote positive. "Oops!" My doctor said I should have sued them, but I was leaving the country in a month and had no time.
