What is your preferred pen brand / ink type and notebook type for writing?

My friend introduced me to Zebra pen's last year and I've never stopped using them since. F-301 is my primary, though I love the F-301 Compact when I can find it. Steel pen structure, good grip, looks classy but relatively cheap compared to other "fancy" looking pens, and the compact one is just awesome for being able to function as a half size pen and full size pen.

As far as notebooks, I have stuck pretty much to Moleskin since I started using them a couple years ago. I never know if I'm going to draw or write, so I get the ones with blank pages.

Also I just bought my first arts festival handmade leather book with cotton woven paper and can't wait to start using it. However I'm curious if any fellow writers have any suggestions for cotton paper when it comes to a pen best suited for it?

At one point I highly preferred roller ball pens due to thick strong lines with minimal pressure, but the ink bleeding through pages finally made me move away from them.

I'm a pen cleptomaniac. I use whatever I can steal from libraries, class-mates, museums, three-toed sloths, squids and other ink-oriented creatures. Which means I rarely have a decent pen when I'm on the run.

At home, I use the old-style pen and ink system - when I can be bothered.

As for paper, my house is littered with scraps of paper. I don't use notebooks. I'm not that organized. I write on whatever it is available. The other day I wrote a poem on somebody's face.

You decided to bump my thread the day after I broke my Zebra pen. I was so disappointed Q_Q...

Thanks for the clever reply though... really looking to see if anyone has any recommendations since I need to buy a new pen now.

That's fucking annoying and dickish. I always represent with good pens like uniball and high end bics, but people at work, especially my bosses, always like to pretend that the nice pen sitting on the desk is just supposed to be their's. I have to steal my own pens back from people who think that they can just snag that shit without me noticing.

I stole a pen from an orphan once. It was a present from his dead father. I used it to scrawl anti-semetic remarks on a synagogue. Then I stabbed a baby panda to death with it.

I'm sorry if you disapprove.

I approve of all satire and sarcastic humor, no matter how sardonic!

Seriously though... my stainless steel pen... broke at the freaking plastic grip. Such an utter fail.

I take it none of the writers in this forum have a huge preference in writing pens one way or another, or are unwilling to put their verbal talents to use in aiding a fellow analog note taker....?

lol I like a good uniball for expressive writing where it flows easier. I've never had a super classy fountain pen, but it seems nice to have. Other than that I tend to write with whatever I can grab near my bed at the time. I've written stories in orange colored pencil, but a solid ball point pen is enough for me. I have ridiculous notebooks and sketchpads of all shapes and sizes, but I'm not picky at all. I like pages with and without lines for different times. Sometimes I like doodling with my writing, but I suck at drawing.

I do have a type writer though, but it takes some adjustment to use. I type so much faster at the lap-top, but it's a totally different thinking where you can't just erase things and cut and paste things without actually busting out the exacto knife and glue to do the job. I don't use it much, but it's something I want to get more proficient at.

Funny thing for me, is I have been using a computer for about everything written until the last year where I actually decided I'd start taking the time to record my thoughts/ideas/free draw when my mind was in curious states.

Using a computer feels so limiting, as it's far easier to make use of non-standard US Keyboard characters, more free to arrange the writing in a manner that makes sense, and very easy to just draw an arrow pointing to a previous thought you're referencing.

That and using a laptop at a camp out in the middle of the forest.... just doesn't seem true to the spirit of the event or wise for that matter either.

Bought my first moleskin, and some zebra pen's after using my friend's zebra's, and then just let the page be blank for awhile, always thinking that something wasn't worth writing down on such a nice quality notebook.

Finally one day, it just started flowing, and haven't stopped since. Very nice to be able to just write something down on the fly and forget about it until later when it's more convenient, or never if it really wasn't that great of an idea to begin with heh.

Honestly when it comes down to it, I don't know -anything- about pens or notebooks... hence my question here. Sure, you could say there's not that much to it in the scale of thing... but I want to know the opinions of people who think otherwise.
