So does anyone else here have crohns disease? I've had it for the last 8 years or so and its gotten a lot worse lately, mainly ever since I got put on Probation and got off heroin a year ago.. like exponentially worse. I guess that the smack was making it worse andbworse all along but njlumbed the feelings of it as long as I kept some in me....

Well first thing is that pot helps some but it's not legal here in maryland and probation means I can't have it.. eating mushrooms is a bad idea it has been pretty painful a couple of the times but a couple of the others when my symptoms were in remission it wasn't as bad.... if I smoke rock then almost guaranteed after every big hit = going to the bathroom, some times I'd just sit on the toilet and smoke lol.

I've neglected it for a long time though, you're supposed to eat healthy, take care of yourself ect... I always figured that if it keeps getting worse and worse then at least I'll get on pain management. sick eh?

No...dude, that's fucking stupid. Opiates are terrible for this sort of thing because they don't even kill the pain that much, and they constipate you. Constipation is a terrible feeling when you have all that shit and blood sloshing around your colon. Plus I highly doubt any doctor would prescribe opiates for Crohns.
Weed is the best drug for it by a long margin, as you know. It's really a fucking shame that you can't smoke weed for this because it's a miracle drug when it comes to intestine problems.
Do I need to tell you you're being an idiot by smoking rock at this time? Jesus christ...well...if you're looking to get healthier there's juicing, probiotics, prilosec, avoiding foods with seeds in or on them, and just waiting it out with the meds the doctors give you basically.

I haven't smoked rock for around a year, you're being assumptive that I am still doing the things I mentioned.. and it's been probably 3 years since I ate mushrooms. I was merely stating my reactions to different drugs so that other people with crohn's know what to expect

and opiates help a lot. The constipating effects don't constipate me but rather make me shit NORMALLY, instead of going to the bathroom every 30 minutes. In the long run it probably makes it worse though I won't disagree with that

Ok so you like constipation. Congratulations you're the first one I've ever heard cop to that. Are you sure it's not the high from opiates you like? It's the constipation, really? Because I have this disease as well, and it's fucking horrible, and it re-flared up after I got off suboxone recently, but I still had a few pills left and did some after the flare-up and it was the worst feeling ever. I could hear the amount of shit and blood in my intestines just sloshing around, and I had ridiculous gas bubbles coming up from from places I didn't think gas existed, but I had absolutely no ability to squirt any of it out for two days. It's better to let that shit out of your system naturally. I also used immodium at one point during a previous flare-up, and it was the same thing. The immense desire, and feeling of shitting, but without any control over my own asshole to actually let it all out. It was the worst. I can't recommend it to anyone.

Maybe you like that feeling, maybe it doesn't affect you as badly, IDFK, but don't tell me you like constipation because that's just some bullshit you say to rationalize a bad drug habit. Believe me, I know what it's like to have this disease and to battle addiction, but trying to explain why you like constipation just sets my BS meter off. It's better to let the shit build up and try to shit somewhat naturally. I know the feeling comes every 30 minutes, but you can generally tell how urgent the shit feeling is. If you've just had a large meal, then you gotta shit when you gotta shit, but if you haven't eaten anything yet and you get that feeling, just hold it off a while longer and the feeling usually goes away for an hour or two. You don't gotta run to the toilet everytime you get that feeling. Weed helps a ridiculous amount, people don't believe me when I explain how much it helps. Opiates help a little, I'll say, but when you want to shit, and you can't, it's fucking horrific.

It's not me rationalizing a drug habit. It sounds like it affects you different then it affects me, because on opiates it's not an uncomfortable feeling of constipation whatsoever. I don't feel anything rolling around in my stomach like I normally do, I don't get the muscle pain and cramps like I normally do and I don't have to shit every half hour to an hour. I also do love the feeling of opiates though so even if it made my crohn's worse and still gave me the same high I'd have no problem admitting that's the reason I like it. Kratom helps a ton too, I actually just took some. I woke up this morning I was in the bathroom for 2 hours straight... took the kratom and it had feelings much like the effect percoset has on me I feel okay now and haven't been in the bathroom since my dose (a low dose at that, only like 3.5 - 4 grams i don't need a lot)

I do love the feeling opiates give my head too that's an undisputed fact, who doesn't. But it also helps with my crohns too FOR THE TIME I'M ON THEM - like I said it could have negative effects long term

I'm not here to argue with you but you need to understand how differently crohn's affects so many people... in terms of diet, drugs, treatments... something that helps one person, even in diet, could be detrimental to another right?? same with treatment options and certainly the same with drugs I now see.

I got my crohns probably 7 months after I joined up. During the first flare up I was trying to be as healthy as possible with everything and did the juicing and quit coffee and alcohol.
The second time around I just kinda dealt with it and drank coffee like nothing and held my shit it as long as possible and moved on with my life.

I have had crohn's for 14 years and I also like the the opiates constipate me. Just drink a ton of water and it is not bad. A few weeks ago I have to use anal suppositores two dys in a row-it felt like giving birth, seriously, and messed me up down there so I am waiting for it do go back to normal. But, it you drink a ton of water that helps

I don't know what opiates you guys use, but I've found kratom is the perfect supplement to a person with crohns in addition to whatever the doctors give you. I find that I get flare-ups after i quit opiates, and I recently quit suboxone, so I might've been a little touchy about it. It's the worst fucking stressor to have right after quitting drugs because it makes so much sense to go back, but I'm fighting that urge this time. I feel like kratom is just light enough where it's the best of both worlds of slight constipation and not too much of a high.

I have ulcerative colitis, another form of inflammatory bowel disease, and work as a medical assistant in an integrative physicians office.

chronic opiate use has an immunosuppressive effect so its not surprisingly that it relieves symptoms of chrohn's, an autoimmune disease, in addition to constipation which can be a welcome relief when one is used to chronic diarrhea.

Probably the single best thing you can do to relieve symptoms is take a regular probiotic. Take the strongest one you can find/afford, take larger than the recommended dose, and do it twice a day, every day. I've found this to be easier to do for many people than diet modification and so has better compliance. Regularity is the key *rimshot*

If you want to start modifying your diet, stay away from greasy heavily fried foods, and limit dairy intake. Increase the amount of fiber in your diet with raw plants or metamucil if you want. Some people also swear by acacia fiber.

Different people find different flare-triggers for themselves. Common triggers are red meat, dairy, wheat, corn, and soy. Tofu is a fine protein, but keep in mind soy is one of the most genetically-modified crops out there, and a source of plant estrogens. Make it a rotation food, not a daily thing.

You don't necessarily have to give up meat. Chicken is very mild for most people, as is fish; lean meats are better than fatty.

Because nutrient malabsorption is an issue, take a good comprehensive multivitamin, NOW's multifood complex for example.

I have been living with Chrones for 15 yrs and can tell you without a doubt hell yes I'd like to experience a little constipation. Try living the last 20 yrs or so without a solid bowel movement and nada but the runs. I'll gladly take a break from that. As for medications I have a steady regiment of opiates for at least the last 5 yrs. currently I'm taking 125mcg Fentanyl transdermal patch and 8mg dillaudid. I wish I would have stuck with just the morphine er cause Ive developed an awful dependency. I of course run out of pills and the patches don't work for nada so in making even more visits to the e.r. Then normal trying to get refills. Otherwise I have withdrawals worse then the Chrones itself. A lot worse. I know its due to the patches and receiving the fentanyl 24/7. After about a week the patches run out and I'm sweating and sick. I wonder also if the dependency might have to do with the fact that I was born addicted to Heroin and on methadone as a baby wich means u was predisposed idk. Anyway it is what it is now. Needless to say they don't even help that well with the pain. Other drugs I take for Chrones are sulfasalazine, prednisone, elevil, reglan and dicylclomine.

wow i'm really sorry to hear all of this and hope that you can find a medicine that makes your crohn's disease get better =/ i'm about to make a doctors appointment tomorrow since i have been basically neglecting my health for the last few years (not smart i know =/

if any of you crohn's patients would like to talk more i'd love to instant message... i have 3 different IM services all of which are located under my username... if you can't get ahold of me then send me a private message here and 'll make sure i get ahold of you :)

oh and for 2 of my usernames i think it's misiing the .com at the end becasue the max length for a username on bluelight is retarded so i had to truncate it, it's pretty obvious though becasue it says @gmail. which of course has com afterwards

good luck with all of you and your health <3 hopefully my doctor will be able to help me a lot when i make my appointment tomorrow wish me luck

i know he's going to be mad though because my last appointment i made was when i was still on probation which i just got off of... he gave me a script of percoset which made me freak out after i filled it that my PO would find out so i havent gone again and have ignored his calls up until now.. I was supposed to set up an appointment for a colonoscopy right after the last appointment =/

If its a legal script then I wouldn't think ur p.o. could really say anything. I use to fail for benzos and opiates all the time but mine couldn't say nada cause it was all medically valid.

Its all good my man pprobations over. But now i got a percoset habit from the legit rx i had that i gotta start kicking tomorrow before a colonoscopy monday. Joy! Cant go in on percs though or the colonoscopy would show me as being constopated so at least withdrawing if anything itd look worse so they can see how fucked up my stomach really is

Your colon will be fucked up looking regardless of how it's feeling currently. I had a colonoscopy when my symptoms weren't bad at all, and my doctor was quite concerned and telling me I might have to get on the stronger meds and that surgery was potentially on the horizon. All this while I was basically feeling fine...

I find that withdrawals definitely make it way worse which is another reason to avoid opiates with this disease. Try kratom one of these days and see how you like it. It's a legal opiate type substance that you can get online. It's not quite an opiate, and withdrawals and highs are nothing compared with pharmaceutical opiates, but it's quite enjoyable and it does give you that little constipation that people with bowel diseases all love.
