rofl i know when the vet told me that my response was 'youre fucking kidding me right'

Ill try those stridex pads, I got a mad kitten on my hands

yeah maybe i'll just put some water on it before I rub it all over his chinny chin chin

its even more adorable/heartbreaking when im trying to wash his chin and he looks up at me and cries out the saddest meow ive ever heard
it makes me feel like im going to hell

I have the most adorable hamster ever <3 he is so friendly. He greets me when I come home. And he's always wanting to play! Sooooo cute!

my first hamster was like that, she was so chill. like I would always have her out of her cage and she would just be layin on me and watchin tv with me and shit. i got another hamster after she passed away which had babies and promptly ate almost half of them. that hamster sucked and was a biter. she was no fun at all and ruined the idea of rodents as pets for me.

my sweet Bubba Toons got his shots today

July 2011 he weighed 16.9 lbs today he is 14.4 lbs.
He prefers outdoors for hours and less food. I worry and have more vet bills when he is outdoors but if that keeps him at a healthy weight. I will risk it.

The vet recommended a dewormer for him as he goes outdoors. I bought it but gave it to Tink (below)

who eats mammals and had a bout of HAWS recently and spend 50% of his hours ourdoors. I figure it cannot hurt for that bad boy to be dewormed

I have 2 cats named Bosley and Hobbs. I know they are strange names but I got them from a shelter. They are the coolest chillest cats ever although there not right in the head, seriously if theres ever been a schitzo cat then I own them. I actually didn't realize as there really playful at times but there fucking old, like 17 which makes me sad as they will probably die quite soon :(

Hobbs is morbidley obese and has to have special food that costs a fucking fortune and constantly tries to eat evertything that eadible so I can't leave anything out, ever.

I also had a King Snake for 3 years named Phoenix/Eddy, I sold him recently though but plan on getting another snake or a reptile.
pets are awesome imho, they are great to have around the place and give off good vibes. Pretty mamazing when your tripping balls as well haha :)

Do's and don't's with cats

In a couple of weeks I'll have a kitten. It'll look something like this:

Of course I'm reading up on how to take care of it but I'd like to hear some do's and don't's from those of you who have cats. You know, the things you can't learn from the Internet.

Thanks!

Dont: get a cat

sorry I just like dogs better and they can protect you depending on the breed. Whats a cat going to do if someone breaks in your house?

Well, clearly he's already decided to get a cat. What are you going to do when someone breaks into your house? Own a gun.

Anyway, cats are pretty easy to take care of. Has the kitten been house (litterbox) trained? If so, that's the first thing you want to do. Otherwise, go out and buy yourself a bottle of this stuff called "Nature's Miracle", you can get it at pet supply stores. Kittens will, even if they are litterbox trained, eventually piss on your clothes. The mistake that a lot of cat owners make is to just wash the clothes. The thing you gotta remember is that a cat's sense of smell is amazing. In fact, it is better than a dog's. The cat will simply re-mark (re-piss on) the clothes you washed. That's where this "Nature's Miracle" stuff comes in. I know that sounds like a product plug post but you'll be glad you have it.

Clean the litterbox early and often. Cats are very particular when it comes to their litter boxes. Make sure you have fresh water for the cat at all times. Kittens are going to want to play. Play with your kitten during the day (or when you're usually awake) and it will develop a sleeping schedule more similar to your own. Otherwise, prepare to have your toes attacked at 3 in the morning by an insane kitten. I have a tabby cat similar (actually, very similar) looking to the one in your picture. Tabbys are very social and loving cats and I've had mine since he was a very small kitten.

Are you planning on having the cat as in indoor only cat? An indoor/outdoor cat?

Hope this helps :)

Dont: get a cat

probably try to run away but most people don't get cats for protection

do: buy decent food, brush their fur, make sure they have a clean litter box, play with them, have stuff around so they aren't bored, make comfortable sleeping places. Try to catproof your living space so your kitten doesn't get into anything that would be harmful.

there are many don'ts but i think they mostly involve neglect, treat your kitten like you would want to be treated if you were a cat and you should be fine.

There's plenty of things other to do but you'll pick up on it pretty quickly. Kittens love to play so it's helpful to have some toys you can wear your kitten out with. At first i found a spray bottle pretty helpful when my cat wouldn't stop attacking me in bed, eventually they grow out of it. Kittens also require a good amount of attention, they are always getting into things they shouldn't so you have to look out for them sometimes. It takes patience but is worth it in the end, have fun.

^Well said. Kitten-proofing your house is an easy task as well. Kittens love to attack wires, cords, strings, shoelaces, cables, etc. Just keep an eye on your kitten if you've got lots of electronic equipment laying around your house. Cats also like to eat houseplants (some cats do) so if you have lots of houseplants...keep an eye on them as well.

But, as RR said, you'll learn pretty quickly. Also, invest in a decent scratching post.

Thanks for the great tips, guys!

NT, I'd prefer to keep the cat indoors. But if I see that it really wants to go outside, I'll look into it. We live in a calm neighbourhood so I'm not really afraid of it getting run over. However, the people next door to me have a family of 5+ cats and they cling together very strongly. Do you think they'll attack mine if they see it?
