Well then, I don't know what the lot of you are talking about, but I'm going to keep talking about fried chicken, damnit!

I've heard that the secret is marinating it beforehand in buttermilk, then battering it twice; no more, no less. Thoughts?

Ix: I've heard that deep-frying is the way to go, but I've only ever managed a shallow-fry. But yeah, pan-fried is great for un-battered/breaded, but for a nice, crispy crust (to hold in all that delicious skin-fat) needs at least a shallow fry. About 2" of oil in a deep saute pan, 375 or so, 4-5 minutes, then flipped. I'd say that it's easier to deal with half a liter of funky fry oil than 4 L of it.
 
Breakfast of champs. I love how the one toast has bites out of it already. Like you wanted to get a nice shot of the food but you couldn't not take a few bites in between the picture lol. I am thoroughly jelly.
 
^^ jap, it was like: "OK, when I'm done with preparing the meal I'll take a few nice pictures of it." *ten minutes later* "Omnomnomnomnom... Oh fuck, I wanted to make a photo and now I have eaten half of it already. Wait... no one will notice it when I put a bit more of everything on the plate. " Apparently I was so busy taking the picture that I left the half-eaten toast on the side ;)

Breakfast is my favorite meal to go out for. Left to my own devices i will generally just eat cereal, fruit and yogurt. But a meal like that, VanWeyden, that is worth getting up for. Your creation looks like one of my favorite things to order: Huevos rancheros. Beans, tortilla strips, salsa, avocado and a fried egg on top. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!
