There was a proper schizo little turd of a dog next door to me for a bit, a chihuahua which a potato-headed bint bought because some famous people also had shitty little scraps of fluff and that was the limit of her aspirations. She used to go out and leave it all day on its own and it would routinely go nuts for 8-10 hours at a time. Every saturday morning it would be out yapping like fuck at everything in sight at around 6.30 - 7, I got into a bit of a routine of going round in my dressing gown and threatening them with murder. yep. same goes for cats, who can live to what... 18 years or so? our longest lived dog was 12, I think.

it just struck me the other day that Seamus was, essentially, a 'rescue' kitten. we bought him from someone who didn't want him any more. (or should I say, we gave the owner £50 for his bed & bowls, and Seamus was shoved in a cat box and driven home with us - he seems OK with the deal now, but we're under no illusions - he 'owns' us. )

the daft previous owner (who was about 7 months pregnant) already had a 6 month old cat, but was putting the 1 or 2 month old Seamus up for adoption because of their 'fighting' and didn't think it would be a good environment for her new baby. I sincerely hope she decided to breed with a bit more fucking foresight than she did when she originally got Seamus. anyway, her loss is our gain.
