^Well every drug comes with a list of side-effects but they are most often the 'worst case scenario' tyoe effects. You shouldn't assume that every drug you take will automatically produce the list of side-effects that people have compiled for it.

In the case of Galantamine, and the above side-effects you mentioned, I highly doubt that the FDA would allow it to be sold as a supplement or medication if it caused seizures that easily. Many drugs can produce seizures, but mostly when either the dose is too high, when combined with other contraindicating drugs, or when the person has a low seizure threshold.

The same goes for the other side-effects you mentioned. If it caused internal bleeding or fainting at normal doses, it would not be sold or consumed like it is.

That said, you should still know your body and mind before taking any drug, and try to do the proper research as to how it affects you. In the case of Galantamine, I believe it is an acetylcholine esterase inhibitor, and a nicotininc receptor agonist. This should raise levels of acetylcholine in the brain, and also have simultaneous effects similar to nicotine. Nicotine enhances the dream state, so I can imagine why this is reported to do the same.

I wouldn't want to take it every day, at least at normal doses, since it inhibits the enzyme acetylcholine esterase, meaning that until the body synthesizes more acetylcholine esterase, your acetylcholine levels will remain high. This might be okay for alzheimer's patients, but for healthy individuals it might become too much with regular dosing. It would probably be best to dose on an "as needed" basis or on a small cycle with low doses.

I heard somewhere that at some point during sleep, the body needs to temporarily drop it's acetylcholine levels in order to 'upload' memories held in temporary storage in to longer term storage. I don't know how much basis that has in fact. But if it were true, then it may mean that if acetylcholine esterase inhibitors were to be taken everyday on a long term basis, they may interfere with the production of long term memories.

edit: here I found the study I was referring to.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC357065/

The neurotransmitter acetylcholine is considered essential for proper functioning of the hippocampus-dependent declarative memory system, and it represents a major neuropharmacological target for the treatment of memory deficits, such as those in Alzheimer's disease. During slow-wave sleep (SWS), however, declarative memory consolidation is particularly strong, while acetylcholine levels in the hippocampus drop to a minimum. Observations in rats led to the hypothesis that the low cholinergic tone during SWS is necessary for the replay of new memories in the hippocampus and their long-term storage in neocortical networks. However, this low tone should not affect nondeclarative memory systems. In this study, increasing central nervous cholinergic activation during SWS-rich sleep by posttrial infusion of 0.75 mg of the cholinesterase inhibitor physostigmine completely blocked SWS-related consolidation of declarative memories for word pairs in human subjects. The treatment did not interfere with consolidation of a nondeclarative mirror tracing task. Also, physostigmine did not alter memory consolidation during waking, when the endogenous central nervous cholinergic tone is maximal. These findings are in line with predictions that a low cholinergic tone during SWS is essential for declarative memory consolidation.

Wow that's very informative! Thank you!

I have seizures, so I don't take anything that cause them. And yea, that is very true, considering how intraconnected the human body is and mind as well. Though it sounds like it would definitely be something nice! Yea, I know you should take choline with your Piracetam, I eat eggs as well as take a small dosage unless I find a nice drink with Alpha-GPC in it. Piracetam stimulates the Corpus Callosum, the bridge linking the two hemispheres of the brain together to send and receive messages. I am actually begin testing soon, ;), on some stuff and let yall know what I find out. :D

Piracetam is also synergetic with nicotine! LOL I want to say when coupled with THC it causes a nice contemplative mood.

From my personal experience, piracetam didn't work on psychedelics the way I had hoped. It adds a sense of clarity to your thoughts during a trip which is never a bad thing. However I did not see any potentiation.

I DID notice a potentiating effect, though with sugar, caffeine, nicotine, weed, and alprazolam.

Can you explanation the effect with psychedelics a bit more? What dosage did you use?

I took MDMA and LSD separately while taking piracetam.

Both times I felt as though my trip was not potentiated. However, I felt much less confused. It was easier to string sentences and thoughts together both in my head and out of my mouth. My comedowns were also much more gradual. You don't even realize you're down until, well, you're down.

I'm still reading through this thread but I havn't seen the advice I'm looking for yet: Does anybody recommend taking DMAE on the day of MDMA use? Would this potentiate or conflict with a roll?

sorry if this has already been talked about and I missed it:

What kinds of changes do you daily -racetam users notice in your emotions? I like to use oxiracetam for studying, and have been using it regularly for the past 5 months, usually a few days/weeks of daily use and then a break until I think I will need the kind of change in headspace it brings to get some school work done. Besides it's mental stimulation, I've noticed that it makes some of my emotions more pronounced - eg. more epiphanies and more sorrow. Anyone else?

That's pretty much what I was hoping to hear Splinter. I always enjoyed LSD however found it difficult to stay focused (not get confused or distracted) and how I could talk better. I like to go on adventures when I'm tripping and when I run into a sober person I don't want them to know right off the bat that I'm not "fully" there if you get what I mean.

On a side note, I was reading tonight and found out that L-Theanine (found in green tea) actually elevates the GABA (the same receptors that Piracetam works as) and figured I would share that information with yall. I am guessing that the two would work in synergy very well, and might prove better than caffeine and Piracetam together. I just ordered another bottle from Smart Drugs for Thought, so I should be getting it soon, once I have that I'm going to start testing the Piracetam and L-Theanine combo out and see what happens.

I have some psychedelics potentially appearing in my near future so hopefully I'll get to experiment with the pairing soon.

As promised earlier, and since ZenPit has come back to read the continuation of the thread including my announcement - this is now merged into the Big & Dandy Nootropics Thread. :)

Seems like a good time for me to start up a nootropic regimen, I know this is a very YMMV topic but as a noob how does this sound to start?

multivitamin
300 mg pramiracetam
1 g priracetam
1 650 mg choline bitartrate tablet, 1 1200 mg soy lecithin tablet
1 ph buffered creatine capsule (krealkalyn)

That sounds rather good...
I would start with piracetam instead of pramiracetam, piracetam is the only one with zero risks.

Yea, Piracetam is nontoxic, nonaddictive, and nondangerous. I did a super attack dose (16g) just to see if I had any negative effects and surprisingly there was none.

If you do decide to take Piracetam I recommend starting at 2,400mg a day for the first month and then raising it as you see fit. Your choline dosage is appropriate. I would add Theanine if you could, it helps excite the GABA so it will increase the effectiveness of Piracetam.

Overall looks like a great starting Nootropic stack :)

Sounds like a good way to start, I wouldn't mind getting to know the feel of piracetam before I start mixing with it. But now I'm curious what are the risks of pramiracetam?

Has anyone found that any of these nootropics help with PAWS from opiate addiction? For example, does anyone think that piracitam or lecithin (or any of the others mentioned) would help heal damaged opiate receptors. I could find no research on this so I'm asking for anyone's personal experiences.

I found some anecdotical reports where piracetam blocks the high of opiates.
Anyway it helped great in the last stages of withdrawal :)

I think I might have stated these earlier but some of the side effects I've found there just looking and researching into it was anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, headaches, nausea, and heartburn. I wouldn't say any of that is particularly too bad, however if you already experience any of these it may agitate it. However I'm no doctor...that is just my opinion. I'm considering adding Aniracetam to my stack at some point, not too soon though. Right now Piracetam is doing a great job, considering how the L-Theanine and Choline have been working in synergy with it.

Hi after many trips i find myself having troubles esp. with vocabluary, speech and phrase-constructing - nothing too serious? but certainly not good than in the past.
Which stack would help me most?

Our No "What drug should I take?" Threads/Posts rule applies for Nootropics too. They won't necessarily help your issue, but if you do want to try them, you should read up on any/all the ones you have access to, find out about dosage, price, availability, legality, effects and side-effects, and make your mind up about which is right for you. What works for you may not work for someone else, and vice versa. Along with that, although it sounds obvious, if you really want to recover, you'll need to give all drugs (even alcohol, weed, caffeine imo) a break for a few months.

You should not look to nootropics until you've already completed the few months break either imo.

Oh, sorry it's my bad.

Already do it, altought finally stopped on hydergine+piracetam and centrophenoxine.

Would hydergine potentiate LSD? Was considering ordering some to see if there is a synergy.

I tried hydergine with 2C-B, had a very confusing and exhausting trip. I dont recommend it.

Thats a good remark. it takes a bit the fun of psychedelics, but if u running dry of acid then I recommend it. One tab with 1.2g of piracetam feels like 2.5x tabs, it also makes incredible horny but i think prone .

Im not sure if it was already mentioned in this thread but piracetam blocks somewhat the NMDA agonists action. If you take piracetam in the middle of a K trip, it diminishes effect like 60% and ends it much sooner, tested this 2 times.
