best on stage music performer??

And while I'm at it can I put in a controversial nomination for the worst live act?

Chemical Brothers.

Seen them about 4 times at festivals and they certainly know how to take a crowd...nearly there then straight back down again.

Maybe its just me. I actually like a fair bit of their recorded stuff.

such a skinny runt though
iggy?

I think Iggy has an astonishing body. he's got meat. seems naturally lean and looks like he's got 3% body fat or less granted, but muscles, plenty of em. love his physique. I like all sizes, no real preference, but I think he looks perfect physically for his size and frame.

best performer I can think of right now is Lou Barlow. I used to think Barlow was a bit bitter and a bit of a wannabe rockstar. When I saw him at a D Jr gig last year, I was gobsmacked at his energy. born to be on stage. great camaraderie too. totally respectful of attention he was getting. talented and mesmerising and 100% deserving of hero worship. doesn't stop moving. dont think i saw his face for the whole gig as he was bent over double beavering away and bounding around the whole time. total contrast to Mascis

Someone I was surprised by in terms of stage appeal was Adam Green when I saw him at the Leeds festival the year before last. my sis won free vip tickets with the NME and I got to take advantage of em. I'm not a fan of the Moldy Peaches, so I wasn't expecting much. totally surprised me. crowd of about 500 people tops, and he spent the last 15 minutes singing while crowd surfing and being groped by middle aged indie chicks ... he had the class of someone like Gene Kelly crossed & morphed with a young Alice Cooper.

you could tell that whether it was a crowd of 15 people or 3000, he wouldve given exactly the same standard. can't wait to see him again .. [edit] he looks like syd barrett a bit too

It's pretty gay, but I used to love going to see Enter Shikari before they released their album. Chinup spoke about the human pyramids, and that's probably one of my favourite things to get involved in at a gig. I also used to like it when 200 people would run around in a big circle until the drop, then rush the center and beat the shit out of each other. The bled were really good for all out carnage.

I guess in terms of live performances this could well be the benchmark:

I'm not a big fan but there's no doubt this is a helluva gig.

I think we've got a winner! My mum missed their last UK show because she wouldn't skive off of work, and they wouldn't give her the night off... She thought, nevermind i'll just see them next time they're here. Since then, she has told work to shove it when something so important comes up.

half the thread disappeared! ..

Yeah, I did it for the sake of those who enjoy a thread without some bullshit in the middle. Apologies to all those who love to see a scrap.

Mr. SB, I get the feeling that an official warning would only cement your status as a self-appointed martyr to the forces of 'political correctness', but please remember what you see as political correctness is what others regard as common decency, good manners, respect and tolerance. That's all I have to say on the matter, and I'd appreciate it if you didn't come back with another cheap insult.

Cus that's where I draw the line, and it doesn't come into my language. It's not my place, however, to draw other people's lines for them. Maybe if I hung around more black people, and they freely used the term in a derogatory jokey manner like my gay friends I would. Perhaps I should have said 'it's pretty lame', but then I would have offended people who can't walk well. .
woah. just think about what you wrote about where you draw the line

I agree with you in certain principles, but to continue that ideology here to it's end means that using nigger in essence is acceptable and it's not. and other similar terms too. and you can't pick and choose a stance on censorship or freedom of expression in that way

for the record msb I used 'gay' in similar circumstances, Sam did exactly as he did here, and he was right for doing so. I didn't contest his comments.

You'd have to warn yourself too, cus afterall you started it. There are plenty of people who don't like swear words full stop, or words they see as blasphemy, but you use those words. Why should I pander to you? Or am I forgetting that EADD is your personal fiefdom to do with as you see fit?

Are you for real? I 'started it'? Get a grip. For the record it's the BLUA you're 'pandering to', not my personal tastes.

Please give it up, I'm getting very tired of your antics today.

Yes, where I draw the line. You regularly say 'Jesus' when upset, but do I give a fuck? No. I just don't say it.
this tells me that you have no clue about the fundamentals of the issue, so conversation is pointless.
no more comments from me on this matter. enjoy your ignorance, fictional characters and all.

apologies to the thread starter.
[edit]
@ MSB. if PCness is a bug bear, why not start a thread about it? t'would be interesting to see what people think about the different contexts/implications etc and what the fundamentals are seen to be from differing perspectives. doesn't have to reference this thread, would be better being purely focused on the topic of political correctness and relevant issues to the subject. if it's contained to the thread and on topic, I think it would be left to play out and left be. I'll quite happily join in on the topic

Motorhead

Lemmy being so fucking cool and the fact that It was SO FUCKING LOUD! Ah but, the memories you have from when you were young are always going to be so much more vital than when you get older and more cynical & jaded - all the bands I saw when I was a teenager i(Damned, Stranglers, Hawkwind etc) mplanted a brilliant memory on my impressionable brain.

That's without even starting to consider the way that eating LSD, amphetamine, mushrooms etc. warp one's perceptions ;)

Wish I'd had a chance to see the likes of Jimi Hendrix or The Doors...

'Gay' is a homonym, I thought English was your forte?

I am tired of your antics every day. If I need modding tell one of the reasonable mods, who doesn't essentially gang up and bully me, to do it.
opinions which have been expressed in this thread [and other recent ones] by others who show the ability to consistently not pick sides [jancrow, cornish] would seem to agree with sam's moderating today.

if you're tired of the advice, it's possibly time to change your attitude or listen to others if you can't take Sam's.

Bullied? lawdy. you also said the word 'victimized' when referring to how I treated you on the forum too. how uber sensitive of someone who vehemently defends the use of derogatory 'PC' terminology with such conviction. over sensitive maybe? It's very bizarre considering what you've been claiming today anyway

Sam pulled me up on this exact issue and you have been treated exactly the same as he'd treat anyone else

start a thread about PCness if youve got a beef with people being that way. or carry on pissing and moaning in this one, knowing that it will be deleted to keep on topic, just so you can cry about being bullied. whichever
