I wish that left and right wing, and liberal and conservative, were redundant political terms because of their one dimensionality. However, there seems to just be far too many people who are unwilling to take a variety of viewpoints from each of the philosophies. I find it ridiculous that anyone can pick up a paper like the Guardian or the Daily Fail and agree with the vast majority of what's printed.


I saw the advert and immediately started watching it online :D It is as good as it looks, but I don't know how long they can stretch the premise out and keep it interesting. I think it might be a case of a TV series that really should have been a good 2 hour long film.

yeah. this used to be my trick in life too. saying things with conviction. I used to do it to a whole team of people.

it's a dangerous and wholly unfit way to deal with understanding things and furthering one's knowledge. it's about the opposite. it's worthless. it only serves to sate the ego and compensate for a whole host of failings

it's cheap tricks disguised as intelligence. assertive terminology, finely tuned 'technically', ticks all boxes, 'sound' and therefore 'winning'

trouble is there's an underlying ideology that gets ignored.

it's a politician's staple diet and wank fodder. I can think of about 2 politicians I respect.

There seems to be a direct correlation between Marmz's existence on these forums, and me posting in a way that you do not like. How odd. I guess some people, no matter how much they claim to be all about loving people and humans in general, bring out the worst in me.

The irony of congratulating the person with perhaps the strongest convictions on the entire forum, for a post condemning conviction in someones beliefs, is not lost on me.

you are the new breed of daily mail reader. you simply extend your hand to accepting drugs and giving a generous tap on the head to gays
other than that, you're one of the better characters that Viz forgot to create

It is far easier to roll up your political beliefs into a box to tick than it is mine. Keep on claiming you are open minded and lack conviction in your beliefs, whilst continuing to be heavily involved in campaigning for your beliefs and being butt hurt when someone questions them. It amuses me :).

I have never once in any thread stated my political beliefs as being left or right

I via from communism to outright libertarian on a weekly basis. depending on the specific subject.

well. kudos for that. I know the extremes of my own beliefs without needing another to kick it out of me. it comes hand in hand with understanding the implications of my own words and being responsible for them.

perhaps this explains why you made such a stupid and flippant comment in the first instance.

Yes, but the left and liberalism is a match made in heaven, much like the right and conservatism. You take your views from 2 semi-linked political philosophies, try juggling more than 2 balls in your mind at once and you may well achieve the image of yourself you have and try to project.
 
forgot to mention when I was in prague and got so smashed, apparently I had a little trouble getting my jacket on, and the whole spectacle entertained the pub so much that there was a massive cheer when I finally got my arm in my sleeve and got it on, bigger than the cheer when england won the rugby apparently 8)

Oh, and it was caught on video by the stag too, along with another video of me randomly doing the macarena!

I am not arrogant enough to think that my words have any implications on the wider world, or anyone or anything for that matter. I am used to talking among friends, who rather than jumping all over a statement I make slightly off the mark of my meaning or intention, will seek clarification. Or just let it go because they aren't so seriously up their own arse, or attached to their beliefs. But I guess that's an honor that people who like each other bestow, and I shouldn't really expect it from someone I don't know.
