Seasonal Depression As A Result Of MDMA/ Serotonergics

Ever since I abused pressed pills spring/summer '09, I noticed as the cold winter sets in, my mood instantly drops from being generally good to just completely dreary and depressed. It's like all the life is sucked out of me in the winter, that winter was the worst. The next year I didn't really abuse mdma, and winter wasn't AS bad. Come 2011, methylone and 4-mec are all around me, and I did a decent amount throughout the summer/ early fall, and also recent 4-mec binges and using 6-apb twice.

It just started getting really cold again, and you guessed it, horrible depression. It's not even like I was getting tuesday blues, the depression kicks in as soon as the cold comes.

Anyone else notice that abuse of mdma and/or other serotonergics leads to seasonal depression for them?\

Edit: Winters never sucked before I used ecstasy.

Oh yes definately,

I suffer from SAD myself,
Mdma depletes our serotonin.

See, thats how mdma works on our brains.

What i'd suggest for you, is to do what i do. Take less mdma in the winter/ nearing winter months. When we eat certain foods and have decent exposure to sunlight, our bodies produce more serotonin. So obviously in the winter months there is going to be less decent sunlight exposure = less serotonin being produced.

Melatonin might help you as a supplement, Best thing i can say is to try and get out in the sun when you can,
dont roll in the winter/ end of autumn.
Also i recommend you go on my 'e-diet'.

its a serotonin increasing diet,

Also make sure you get up early every day! Dont let the day fade away, you want to get / be around as much daylight as possible.
Typical example of what im eating today:

Free range fried egg sandwich
Broccoli (not serotonin increasing, but supposedly an anti anxiety food)
2 bananas + oats + 1 pint of milk in a smoothie
25g of dark chocolate
Tuna sandwich (whole tin of tuna)

Other foods too, but not sure, depends who takes their turn to cook dinner :P

Yeah, I'm kind of a night owl, and don't see sunlight for the better part of a week a lot of times. Thanks for the advice on the foods, I'm going to look into changing my diet to see if that helps.

So basically, Winter (which causes decreased serotonin)+rolling (which causes decreased serotonin also)= much worse depression than from rolling or winter alone? Makes sense to me.

Anyone else started getting seasonal depression after they started using mdma/other serotonergics who didn't suffer from this before?

sunlight exposure during the day is very important.

Let me ask you this, when you go to sleep , how long do you sleep for? how long does it take you to fall asleep? and how long does it take for you to not feel 'zombie like' or 'groggy' when you have woken up?

I can't exactly "decide to go to sleep", I have to stay up until I'm so exhausted that my eyes can't stay open any long. Been that way for years. Sometimes I'll sleep 3-5 hours a night for a few nights, then itll jump to 7-10. Its really random, I'm on no sort of normal "sleep schedule", at least not a 24 hour one. I used to notice over about a months period my sleep and awake time rotating all the way around the clock from waking up really early in the AM to waking up in the late evening. I'm not really groggy after I wake up, especially if I take my klonopin right away.

you sound a lot like my brother, he's the same.

He tried melatonin, and he was without success also.

May i just ask you this,
What time did you used to go to sleep at whilst in age 9 - 12
and what time did you used to go to sleep at
aged between 13 and 16 ?

Insomniac my whole life. Even at age 3-4 I remember laying awake in my bed or getting up staring under the crack in the door. Age 9-12 probably fell asleep between 10pm-1am. Age 13-16 was probably 11 at the earliest, closer to 3-4pm. Slept through half of my classes always.

im sorry to hear that,

Insomnia is nasty. I definately put lack of sunlight and increased Seasonal Affective Disorder symptoms in the same boat. I only say this as there was a space of 2 months over the winter i werent getting up till 10am, thus missing few hours of sunlight... I just felt more and more depressed, but then i started getting up at like half 7,
ive slowly been feeling better and better

you guys are talking about problems i kind of thought was just me or i was being weak minded... But theres really winter depression..? i used pressed pills alot back in '08 to '09 way to too much like i dont know anybody personally who has went harder than me... Also im just now starting to think i could possibly have serotonin syndrome so how do you guys deal with that this is the first time thinking their might be a fixable problem and im trying to figure out what i can do

I think serotonin syndrome is like something that hits you right away and you kind of KNOW you have it... not an ongoing issue.. But yeah if you scroll up youll see that darksidesam left a list of foods that will increase serotonin production, I guess that's a start.
