So my mate is going to give me some modaphinil today, i don't know much about it other than its a stimulant, does it have any euphoric effects. what dosage is suggested for recreational use?

It's not recreational, all it does is keep you awake. At best, you'll feel a mild stimulant effect at higher doses, but it isn't much stronger than caffeine.

^^ this. Not sure about dosage, try the search engine or Erowid..

It does cause mild euphoria in higher doses... There are reports of people dosing as high as 1.2 grams. (1200 mg)

It is a long acting drug. So do your best to make sure you dose before early evening wherever you are.

Try not to mix heavy amounts of alcohol in the mix, it is unpleasant and rather heavy body nausea. A little bit (couple of shots 40%) will mildly boost euphoria.

It is never a good idea to use this to boost the stimulant property of any other stimulant...

It is safe to mix with GABA-A PAM's in therapeutic doses. (benzos, z-drugs, barbs, carisoprodol...etc)
It can be used to lessen opiate nods. (Boosted pain killing effects added on with a mild boost in euphoria...)

It is never a good idea to mix this with hallucinogens... Particularly ones with dopamine agonistic properties. (rapid blood pressure destabilization)

I was prescribed this for a while to combat narcolepsy....unlike amphetamines that use sure brute force to keep you awake modafinil just finds that little sleep wake part of your brain, the one that is basically pinging your brain to be awake until sleep and then it turns off, it tricks that so your brain is getting that pinging.

Thing is, it's unknown how exactly it's working to do that so it's now been prescribed for tons of off label uses and is just generally one of those random things.....after a couple nights awake on amphetamines it was great to supplement modafinil in the morning prior to going to work to help stay awake instead of taking huge does of amphetamines and being strung out(or more so)

it is what it is and no more....don't expect any miracles, all it's for is keeping you awake, and only by using tricks, not force so it's not going to cause any great feelings.

just my 2 cents upon my experiences with it:)

It does effect dopamine. It blocks the re-uptake. But, this is all we know for sure... I find it hard it got approved for anything with such small knowledge on it.

Gave Modafinil another run today. Again they worked brilliantly for studying. Dosed 200mg at 9am, again at 3pm, again at 5pm and AGAIN at 9pm. So 800mg in total.

After my first trial I found that 200mg taken at midday prevented me from sleeping that night. So any other day I'd have just taken the one dose. But I'd planned to stay up all night anyway for a number of reasons, so thought why not.

The first two doses had exactly the same effect as my first experience. Worked like a trooper for about 7 hours straight. Not mental fatigue at all. However after 7 or 8 hours (I'd had 400mg at this point) it became strangely 'moreish'. The third dose even gave me a mood lift and sort of rush. And the fourth did the same but even more pronounced. My focus and motivation on work remained the same as on the first two doses. But since about midnight I've noticed a change. I suppose its a 'comedown'? It feels almost exactly like coming down off mdma, when all the nice bits have worn off, but your brain remains at 100mph.

I'm still able to work fine. Its just now I feel like I've been on/am under the influence of a drug, compared to it feeling almost natural at 200mg. Also since the third dose I've felt my jaw moving/clenching a lot (increasingly so, even now), and my eyesight went funny for a few hours, in that my vision was very sensitive to bright lights (I couldn't read text on a computer screen or phone). Again, this exact thing happens to my vision when I'm at the peak of an mdma experience.

Does this all sound normal? My product is the cheap Modalert version. But it seemed to do what it was supposed to do at the normal dose. Is it just the high dose I have taken throughout the day that led to the jaw movement, altered perception to light and this mdma like comedown I'm experiencing?

That is the normal side effect profile for it. It is a nice stimulant for not wanting to appear tweaked out. It is indeed a comedown. Only heavy doses can do that, so don't be alarmed.
