Opioids Tramadol High Questions

+1 to having a tram induced seizure. no seizure disorder, no family history. I had taken them for about 6 months, working my way up to bout 450mg/day. I switched over to hydrocodone/oxycodone due to exacerbation of low back injury related pain. A couple weeks later my scripts are out and tried to go cold turkey from everything. 48 hours into withdrawal the physical symptoms got the best of me and I refilled my trams. Took somewhere between 400-600mg (cant remember) and 30 minutes later I woke up in an ambulance w/ a dislocated shoulder. Shoulder remained dislocated for about 3-4 hours before the ER doc put it back in place.
Not fun! Be CAREFUL. Now I take anti-seizure medication everyday twice a day for the rest of my life, and I still have no diagnosed seizure disorder. Prophylactic measure just to be safe.

I've said this before on another thread. Tram can be a nice change from traditional aka good opiates. But it needs to be taken in moderation no more than 400mgs a day. There is a warning I would like to stress to anyone taking it regularly though. If you are taking an SSRI or another SNRI do not take tram. There is a greatly increased risk of seizures. I am speaking from first hand experience. I was taking a low dose of Zoloft daily and was prescribed tram 100mgs twice daily and on the second dose of 100mgs I experienced a terrible seizure. It was a terrible ordeal. I don't remember any of it but woke up in the ER with part of my tongue bitten off and a residual headache that lasted for 3 months. Sorry for the rambling but it was the worst drug related experience of my life. All I'm saying is take it in moderation and for the love of god if you are taking an SSRI do not I repeat do not take tram it is not worth it. If you have any other option just avoid the tram. You will be better off.

I have tried Oxycodone and Hydrocodone's and the Oxycodone's provide the best warm high I have ever had. I have tried Tramadol recently and was quite surprised. The high I got from Tramadol was more than that of Hydros. Anyone else have experiences like this? I am getting Tramadol super easy from my doc right now. Does anyone think the DEA will eventually schedule this drug? Thanks.

My personal favorite opioids are tramadol and buprenorphine, with oxycodone being my favorite full agonist; although I like it as much as the others, I have had a bad addiction to all 3 of these Keep in mind I have done everything, including heroin (which I didn't particularly like), and these are my favorites, by far. Oxycodone I have been off of and stayed off of since late 2005, thank God. I loved it but it was a really bad addiction. Buprenorphine was so awesome to be on, it never failed me. I felt great every day, and less depressed to boot. Didn't feel like shit when I woke up because my opioid had already long since worn off. But when I decided to quit, cold turkey, from a 16-24mg/day addiction...O.M.G. that was the sickest I've ever been, that was the most I've ever thrown up in my 27 years. It was a month-long, extremely grueling experience. Tramadol, however, is tied for the 2nd-worst w/ds I've ever had next to buprenorphine, with #1 being simultaneous alprazolam/clonazepam w/d hooked on 20-40mg/day & 16 mg/day, respectively; this was cold turkey and almost killed me.
Anyway, the reason I don't list tramadol on the list of opioid w/d, is because of the hardcore SNRI w/d you go through, as well as the opiate w/d effects. I was not right for at least 3 months. Not to mention I couldn't barely even get up to walk around for the first 30 days because of the very painful flu-like effects. Actually, worse than the flu by quite a lot. The depression was really, really low. All the time. I was hooked on ~25-30 of them a day for 3 years. I promised myself I would never do it again, and I would never put myself through that again. I got off it for 20 months. I have now been back on it for 3 months, and I am up to 15-20/day. I am not happy about it. I have a script of suboxone 8mg/2mg films, though. So I am hooked on trams and/or bupe again. 2 drugs I told myself I'd never get hooked on, or ever do again.
If that doesn't tell you the power of opioids, I don't know what does. I've been off meth for 6 1/2 years, and finally quit a 9 year benzo addiction. Neither of those do I really worry about ever getting on again (well - meth, never, and benzos...occasionally the thought comes to mind). But I have never been able to beat these addictions.

So...in my opinion tramadol is a beast, but I get out of it what it seems like other people don't. Extreme euphoria, nonstop energy, bad-ass opiate effects, and a buzzing feeling over my brain that is so, so pleasurable.

My 0.02 cents.

Tramadol is a strange drug for me. Although its an opioid, which one generally thinks of as relaxing and sedating, Tram can give me a bit of a jumpy feeling similar to certain stimulants.
It has had both positive and negative effects for me. I had some issues with seizures last year. Although I can't be 100 percent sure that it was the tramadol, Id never had seizures before (or since) so I have to think it ws caused by being uncareful with the drug. My fault 100 percent and I take full responsibility.
On the other hand, it has helped immensely when I had no access to any other opiates. It competely took away any opiate withdrawals and I do find it to be a wonderful mood elevator. It doesnt make me super high, but I dont need or want to be super high. Although it can make me a bit shakey, as I said earlier...that's entirely a physical feeling. Psychologically, it competely evens out my mental state, takes away all feelings of negativity and depression. In conclusion, I'd say despite the negative effects, it can be very beneficial as long as one is respectful of the drug and treats it with the seriousness it merits. Although it might not be scheduled like other Opioids...it can still mess you up if you're not careful.

lol, after reading all this scary seizure crap about tramadol, i guess im going to stop taking it. My question is Ive been on it for about 2 weeks now, taking about 150mg the first week then moved up to 400mg this week and lately even the 400mg isnt getting me good anymore, its just a weak buzzed feeling i guess, So if i stop taking them completely will i be at risk of a seizure? or is 2 weeks of taking it no big deal? Should i go cold turkey? What you guys think? I also have Klonopin, i know it helps stop seizures, so should i take 50mg of it for 3 days just to be on the safe side? let me know guys.

I think you are only at risk of a seizure when the drug is in your system.

Taking a low dose of a benzodiazepine should negate the seizure risk, though. I've had a few of them myself and they are certainly scary and not fun at all, and everyone should of course be wary of the possibility, especially if you're taking a high dosage.

A good way to cut a lot of the more unpleasant side effects is to simply ramp your dosage up over a period of time as opposed to taking all the pills at once. Made a huge difference for me.

If you feel shitty when you stop taking it, taking 1 50mg pill with a small amount of the clonazepam as needed for a few days will do you a lot of good.

I have to say that I am QUITE jealous of anyone who can get high from Tramadol. I have unlimited access to it. I have tried it on a dozen or so occasions. Each time, it has not done anything for me. If I take too much I get opiate nausea. I didn't know anything about opiate nausea until I started snorting oxycontin. I learned not to go a grain over my particular dosage because I would end up having to throw up if I did not monitor my usage.

I don't take opiates anymore, since oxycontin is no longer available, and I can't find Roxies anymore either. I miss it sometimes but I know I am lucky in the long run that OC is off the market.

That "bit of shakey"(ness) could be the verge of a seizure, I dont like to preach, but...

uh from what i have read and my experiance 4g of actomenophen isnt going to do much once or twice ,in fact i have eatin 8 vicodin es bout 7 years ago ,BUT i was sick the whole next day ...felt horrible vomiting etc

and i remember phreex saying 12g was a suicide dosage ,IE: liver failure

but this is different for people with liver probs ,anybody taking large amounts should be taking milk-thistle

I mixed tramadol with vicodin and it was crap, they fight eachother i think, because when i take tramadol seperatly it works much better.

that's interesting because I've always loved the way tramadol mixes with other opiates, including hydrocodone. I do find a small bit of alcohol along with the two helps take the "edginess" that tramadol can sometimes give, but of course be careful with alcohol and opiates.

Tramal is a great drug for me. I was taking it for 5 years. I was taking it when no one had ever heard of it in NSW and the pain specialist said Tramal wasnt addictive!!. It gave me a sense of wellbeing, warmness, confidence, euphoria, energy, and more and i would do anything for anyone. I gave my step father (Ex heroin addict) one and he said it reminded him of having a taste. He last used 25 years ago so the smack wasnt like it is now.

When taking anywhere up to 600mg per day i was totally smashed. I never had a fit or seizure, i did lose my libido though. AT the start it was fun fun fun...But then i became addicted and it wasnt fun fun fun. Very similar to oxy withdrawal..HELL...My step dad takes his when he has a hangover and he just mellows out on the lounge (think Homer)...Great drug if you can controll it and just ahve it whenver...BUT as was mentioned earlier as its sooo freakin easy to get and cheep, its hard to limit your intake..

As for grog, i drank quite alot while taking tramal..Dont know if its because i felt so social or what..Although i used to drink alone alot too...Tramal made me feel speedy or noddy...Depends what i wanted at the time...If i sat down and watched TV id nod off and dribble!...Then something would wake me and Id be up and at it in a second!! Weird drug...Id rate Tramadol in my top 5 drugs...
