Curious what everybody's thoughts on the subject are and do you allow it to affect you? I think if there is any truth to the studies then by the time people find out it'll be too late because they are so embedded into our lives. Because of all the money that's involved in the telecommunications game, I fear we'll never have anything concrete to get hysterical about.

One thing is for sure, I don't keep my iphone in my pants anymore! :)

Very interesting, sev. Have these findings changed the way you use your cell phone? Think there are any things we [consumers] can do to put pressure on big companies to product "safer" phones? I'm trying to get my girlfriend to change but it's a hard sale.

if they did there would be a huge increase in cancer right abotu now lol

I just keep it out of my pocket and away from my head as much as possible. They have been measuring the radiation a phone gives off but I think it's misleading because it's a ratio of the weight of the phone, so heavier phones have a lower rating with more radiation coming from them.

The advice I've read is not to talk on your mobile for too long, only use when necessary, and keep away from head area and reproductive organs (pockets), or to use a cover at all times.

Recent studies I've read have stated no increased risk. They seem to be going back and forth on it, much like the contraceptive pill ten years ago.

My opinion is rather than a particular one item causing cancer (microwaves, computers, mobile phones etc) is that all the things humans are using now might have a cumulative effect over years and years. So only use things when necessary and turn them off if not using them. When we moved house a couple of years back, I got rid of our microwave oven because I found I wasn't using it very often and haven't missed it at all. It's not that I think microwaves cause cancer, I just didn't need it. Obviously mobiles are necessary to most of us now but if you're not using it, take it out of your pocket.

Seems cancer is the disease du jour when it comes to pretty much everything ... talk about causing panic in a population.

Good post, Miss. I used to use smartphones for music, games, and even as an alarm clock. Now I only use them to place calls. Atleast this panic has saved me money because I no longer have the urge to use the latest & greatest smartphones that seem to come out every year like clockwork. So whenever a phone comes out with a new feature I just ask myself if that feature requires more than normal direct contact with the phone and if it does, most cases it does, then I dismiss it. Good advice to everyone, even those that don't believe cell phones do anymore damage than the next device, because battery life is still a big issue and most of these new features drain the battery more than ever before.
