Hey guys, I'm fairly new to Bluelight and I've tried the thread search but didn't find what I was looking for regarding this topic so here goes.

I get heart palpitations fairly regularly (at least once a day) which is usually the result of anxiety and/or caffeine intake. They are in the form of the heart skipping one or two beats and then returning to normal. And I'm just waiting on echo-cardiogram and ECG logging results from my doctor.

Now I'm wondering whether it's safe to take MDMA or not. I've taken a few different drugs while I've had this condition including methylphenidate, cannabis, methoxetamine and codeine, and noticed that none of them exacerbated the condition and some of them even improved it.

I haven't had chest pains or tightness or breathing difficulties at all, just the arrhythmias.

What do you guys think?

sounds like mitral valve porlapse to me...I was diagnosed when I was 20. I aint no doctor but what you discrbie is MVP to a T. only your doctor can tell you if it is safe to roll so when you go in for the results on your echo ask them. be frank and tell them that you would like to take MDMA and that you know it is a stimulant that increases heartrate and if your heart is healthy enough to take the drug.

The doc can't tell anyone about what you ask him...it is against the law. Just ask. It is better to know than to take MDMA and end up in the ER or six feet under because you were too scared to ask.

It very well could be, I guess I'll have to wait until my results come back.

I know the doctor can't tell anyone, but can they put it in my patient file or something?

Be careful! They will put that in your file and will appear for future visits

Not just future visits but potentially insurance firms too. Telling anyone who official who keeps records about illegal drug use is something to be thought about very carefully.

I don't think it "sounds like mitral valve prolapse", I think it sounds like palpitations of as yet undiagnosed cause. Wait until you have a proper diagnosis and then decide. Could be a lot of things some harmless, some sinister.

If you decide to go for it, you better be entirely sure that what you are taking is Mdma - test the stuff. Some of the nasty chemicals passed off as Mdma cause extreme stress on the heart.

HIPPA laws prevent a doctor from sharing medical info to anyone without your consent...even insurance companies. if they get ahold of you medical records it is because you released them. you could be labled a "drug seeker" but in this situation it may be better to carry that lable than to march blindly into the abbyss.

when all is said and don it comes down to how much the OP really wants to roll...if it was me and I had it to do over again it would have been one of the first questions I asked. its been over 10 years since I last had MDMA and I wouldn't mind trying it again....but I have no idea if it is safe for me to do so. I am stuck either paying the money for a doctors consoltation or taking my chances with death or giving up on MDMA altogether. it would have been nice to have a doctors opinion up front so that I could make a more educated choice.

Those are US laws so won't apply to the rest of the world.

Also, we have similar laws in the UK but they are effectively worthless. The reason is because in order to get life or health insurance you have to give permission for them to access your records. There are also plenty of jobs, especially public sector or large corps where you have to accept their medical and or life assurance to get the job. So yes you can refuse permission but not if you want life assurance or certain jobs. I know this from personal experience.

The other thing to bear in mind that no doctor in his right mind will give you the green flag to take illegal drugs. If he does, he could be struck off. Most doctors will not know the detailed pharmacology of MDMA anyway and so are not even capable of giving that kind of advice. The best you can get is a full medical and to try to understand the report. If you have problems with your blood pressure, kidneys, heart etc then clearly you need to be staying away from MDMA and plenty of other drugs too.

^ this is correct in the US as well.

Life insurance requires the consent to release all medical records.
So does future health insurance - they ask for any hospital visits.

I do not believe that the employer offering the insurance is informed.
That is protected by HIPPA.
They are only allowed access to PUBLIC records, like arrests/convictions.
Even these can sometimes be blocked with a court request (non-disclosure), unless you are in a field like public education, healthcare, etc.

Life insurance and health insurance companies will find out, but only when you sign the release.
Since I went to the ER and disclosed MDMA use, I have to be concerned with this.
Perhaps this will change when the healthcare reform is upheld and goes into effect.
I can only hope.

As far as your heart goes...

You have one other option under your control.
Dosage.

Try 20mg and see what happens.
A full 150mg typically causes an 800% increase in cortisol, and it does increase heart-rate considerably.
It is not particularly cardiotoxic, though.

You could certainly 'train' for it, by exercising for a few months first!
See how your heart really handles stress.
If you find yourself completely disabled while jogging a few blocks, perhaps you should consider not rolling.

But aside from this, taking partial doses is your greatest control.
Just make sure you space each 'trial' by at least a month.

Wow thanks for all the helpful responses guys!

I don't think I'll be mentioning MDMA to my doctor as they most likely don't know much about it anyway. Heart rate isn't really much of an issue actually, if I go for a run I don't experience ill effects until I'm finished and start cooling down, and then again it's asymptomatic apart from the palpitations.

I have wanted to have a full medical for a while now due to my excessive codeine and ibuprofen intake so I suppose this is a good opportunity to do so. As for my blood pressure it is high due to my weight, but not dangerously so, about 150/80

And yes, I am planning on Marquis reagent testing it.

Just ask about the effects "strong stimulants". they will be smart enough to put 2 and 2 together. they might not know you mean MDMA specifically but their answer to this question will let you atleast know what you might expect to happen if you take a stim and it agrivates your condition. it may save your life!!

If you are intent on rolling...be sure that you are with someone when you do it and that they know of your situation. make sure they know what they should do in an emergency and that they are prepared to take action you have a problem even if they are high too and might get in trouble/arrested for it. If there is no one willing to take that chance then rolling is not a good idea.

doctors are people too...they may not be able to tel you "sure...take all the MDMA you want" but they will inform you of the risk of taking certain drugs as they relate to your condition. it is their job and their oath to protect your health and if you ask they will give you a good idea of what might happen when taking stimulant. you need to ask the right questions also. if you don't think your doctor knows all the ins and outs of MDMA ask about the general effect " what if I take somehting that raises heart rate and blood pressure?" " would taking stimulants agrivate this issue?" "What do you think could happen if I took a strong stimulant". it is their job to address these concerns.

I guess this topic is kind of null now, but I still thought I would share my two cents in case it is deemed helpful to someone in the future: AI have rolled on many different occasions. From street ecstasy to 99.9% pure MDMA. I just found out a few days ago that I have mortal valve prolapse. I am lucky that MDMA has not worsened my condition (or ever affected me/it negatively, even while rolling) but other amphetamines -like speed or even just caffeine - put a high amount of stress on my heart, so I avoid them. The best answers are to A) ask your doctor how things may affect you based on your condition or B) do "allergy tests". Basically, start really small and gradually increased the dose until you have a clear idea of how a particular substance affects you. Having something like klonopin or benzodiazapines on hand to reduce your heart rate just in case it gets too high would be a good precaution to take, too.

This is all just from my personal experience, but certain conditions will not hinder your ability to have fun/do drugs entirely, you just have to be a bi more cautious than those without. Now that I know I have a heart condition I am going to be even more cautious with my drug use, but I always start small as it is...always practice safe and responsible use, kids. ;p
