Hi Bluelighters,

I'm about to take som triazolam, and obviously I want the most out of it. Therefore I'm a little puzzled with what Wikipedia says here about the bioavailability:

Oral: 44%
Sublingual: 53%

The obvious choice here would be to put them under the tongue, but I've heard stories about how (some) benzos cannot be taken this way as they are not watersoluble. Did I misunderstand something?

And one other thing I'd really like answered aswell: I've heard that, when taken orally, chewing benzos make them kick in faster and possibly stronger. Is this true? Does some of the benzo not get mixed with saliva and end up under the tongue anyway? And is there a possibility that some of it sticks to your cheeks or teeth or some place you cannot reach and therefore waste small parts of it?

Have a nice weekend
deXo

Never tried triazolam, but I'll take a shot at your questions anyway.

-Yes, chewing pills increases the rate of absorption, thereby increasing "how hard it hits." That 'hit' is a pretty subjective feeling, determined (for the most part) by how fast the drug being absorbed into the bloodstream.

-Most benzodiazepines are indeed not water soluble. Saliva is not water, though. They should mostly dissolve in your mouth.

Also, yes it's possible to get some stuck in your teeth when munching pills, but it should make its way down as the saliva erodes it away I suppose.

Hi, yeah sub it. Then you have to know that it'll last a super short amount of time. 1 hour like, as "opposed" to oral which is a tad longer even if not enough ;)

Okay. I took very big doses: 2.5mg triazolam and 160mg bromazepam orally (chewed some of the triaz and some of the bromaz).

I even did it on an empty stomach. Should I not get very relaxed or at least feel some sort of effects strongly? Could this be due to tolerance? I don't use benzos every day.

wtf
did you seriously just take that at once?
doesnt triazolam only come in .125 and .25mg pills cause its super strong?

I know, that's why I'd like an explanation or at least a theory on why this is. I mean I do feel slightly wobbly and stumbled over things every now and then, but I've been higher from smaller doses of other benzos and there's no way my tolerance is that high.

most benzo pills, including the little blue triazolams, dissolve in an instant. no reason to chew them. either hold under your tongue or swallow.

But can anyone tell me why 2.5mg triazolam + 160mg bromazepam had such a subtle effect? I chose those two due to one being a hypnotic and the other an anxiolytic.

Yeah, clonaz is a good one on that point. Good hypnotic ;)

And man, triaz is a down downer, but the crack of the benzos right on close nevertheless ;)

I've heard clonazepam can block effects of other benzos for some time because it stays in your blood for such a long time. Since I ate clonazepam a few days ago, could this be the explanation?

What do you mean 'broken'? Please elaborate. I can take rohypnol and feel something, although I need a bigger dose of that too now. Same goes for alprazolam. I suspect it's simply just tolerance. I've been taking loads of benzos these last few days. Could this be relevant? I just thought tolerance took more than a week to develop or at least develop this radically.

definitely relevant!
benzo tolerance is known for two things - going up... and not going down
so it sounds like you just have a wicked high tolerance.
there's not much you can do about that - potentiate your doses w/ white grapefruit juice or cimetidine perhaps; or better yet just tone down your usage. if a dose that high isn't doing it for you it may be itme to consider stopping.

If you take a high dose enough, yes it can block effects of other benzos, due to its powerful nature ;)

mgrady3, I understand, but I never take such high doses. Usually I only take 0.5mg triazolam every other day and NO other benzos whatsoever. Before that I took 2mg alprazolam every other day for a few months, could this add to my tolerance even though it's months ago?

And finally, benzo tolerance MUST tone down sooner or later if you stay clear, mustn't they? Are you saying that if I abstain for benzos for 50 years, things will be the same?

loulou reed: I think I took 4mg rivotril a few days prior, but for arguments sake let's say I took like 10mg. Would this be enough to block the dose I took yesterday? (2.5mg triazolam and 160mg bromazepam)

OP, your benzo tolerance will eventually go down. But it takes a long, long time of abstaining opposed to other commonly abused drugs.

I'm going to close this thread now, as the OP's questions have all been (excellently) answered. If anyone has anything they might like to add, please send me a PM.
