What was this drug from the late seventies?

That was prolly some old school biker crank that wasnt made like they do today. I forget what they used but i think it was methylene and that shit would turn it blue.

Could be anything. This is all speculation and not particularly productive, but I'm not saying it shouldn't exist.

Please elaborate on the effects of the drug and we'll play guessing games. Might be fun. Please note that you WILL NEVER know the identity of whatever it was you snorted.

Future Note:

Do not do drugs that don't come with an MSDS sheet.

I'm back, so there...

MDA? I know that was popular in those days as it was legal.

I think MDA is a strong possibility. Did you snort it? I do remember that the people who had this stuff also talked about MDA a lot. Was meth around back then? I don't think that was it, totally different feeling. It was very euphoric from what I remember.

Thank you for all the replies.

Yes you snorted it. The only thing I can compare it to is maybe oxycontin, but it has been a LONG time ago, so my memory has faded a little. And you are right, it was not flavored just had a pinkish tint to it sometimes, not always.

I would place a large bet on it having been PCP. I thought that as soon as I saw the thread title, and the fact that you mention match heads and THC makes me even more convinced. You did match head sized amounts because it's a very potent drug. THC was synthesised in the late 60s, at about the same time that PCP appeared on illicit markets, so unscrupulous dealers cashed in by misrepresenting the latter. OP, have you tried ketamine? If you're jonesing for that feeling, I think you'll find it there.

I never knowingly did any PCP (partly because of a TV movie where some kid jumped to his death after doing it), but I thought it was supposed to give you super human strength and make you hallucinate. That was one thing I liked about whatever this was... it didn't make me think weird thoughts like pot does... it just made me happy and laid back actually. The laid back could have been all the alcohol though.

sounds like MDA. euphoric for a few hours? did your eyes wiggle? did you consume a lot of water while on it? did you see patterning (MDA gives visuals)?

Someone's been watching too much Breaking Bad. :p

LOL! exactly what I thought when reading that post

From what you describe it does not sound like meth, but yes, meth was most certainly around back then, much earlier than that even.

. As far as the "matchhead" thing goes, I have personally heard people talking about really good cocaine saying "You only need a match head bump..."

i think you mean raw heroin, not coke

i got a question about old school drugs..

what exactly did quaaludes do, like how did it make you feel and what was it for? and why dont we get them anymore?

They were downers, somewhat similar to barbs in effects. They made you feel drunk and euphoric (you know, like downers). They were prescribed as sleep aids and for anxiety (filling the same role that benzos do now); they were phased out due to rampant abuse and the advent of the safer benzodiazepines, which is why you don't get them anymore.

Except in South Africa. I also read a, modern report on erowid about a pharmacologist synthing it. I reckon it must be easy. I don't know why any of that is important.

By "you" I meant "wiggi". Yes, it is quite an easy synthesis. No discussion of what a drug from the seventies was is important in any traditional sense, we're just shooting the shit really.

The answer to the question if serious business! What if it's a new drug? :

**SNIPS ENTIRE POST**

Dude, come on. Really? Don't do that.

It could have been PCP as this was sometimes called "Crystal THC" then from what friends have told me. Or it could have been meth or crank, or maybe MDA?
