To much Lsd

i have experienced what some are calling "thumbprints" ...somewhere round .15gr, it was not by choice, but i would not take it back for anything. i did not pass out, but was almost instantly paralyzed... the rest of the trip was incredible tho...thanks to the bear....and the boys in blue, jones beach, ny very afraid....

i definitley disagree that drinking once a week is wore than doing psychedelics once a week. physically, yes drinking is worse, but if someone drps acid once a week for an extended period of time they are definitly going to notice some cognitive effects, which while probably not permanent will defintly slow you down.

As someone who's taken well over a thousand hits of LSD, I can assure you that weekly use will not "fry your brain" or "slow you down". I don't know why people still repeat these myths when they were proven false decades ago.

I can also say from experience that weekly tripping does not make LSD dull or mundane in any way. I never lost sight of the magic and beauty of the psychedelic experience, even after hundreds of trips.

If the said individual was using it as a means to escape reality could this then be more of a problem?
Taking drugs to escape from reality is ALWAYS wrong. In my opinion that's the single biggest cause of all heavy addictions. One should take drugs because he she wants to experience feelings brain isn't normally able produce through our senses.
If you escape to a happier, better reality why would you ever want to come back? Why not just stay there until your body gives up and you lose everything from this terrible real world?

Damn what a question!

That's not how LSD works. If someone takes LSD to escape their problems, they won't escape at all. They will be forced to confront those problems and will probably have a less than enjoyable experience. When I was tripping frequently, I knew I had to take care of my responsibilities first before tripping. I couldn't ignore problems or forget my responsibilities in life and still expect to have a fun trip.

Tripping frequently was one of the best decisions I've made, since it really helped me get my life organized and on the right track. My early trips helped me get on the right track to accomplish what I wanted with my life. The frequent trips for a number of years afterwards helped me stay motivated to continue to work towards the goals I had set for myself. I don't know where I would be if I hadn't discovered LSD, but I have no doubt that I'm better off from having used as much as I did.

^ That's not entirely true. I've tripped on LSD to escape quite a few times. If you've got enough psychological willpower it's not too hard to block out these things during a trip. In my opinion LSD is one of the easier psychedelics to block out negative feelings on, easier than mushrooms. Even easier than marijunana a lot of the time. Depending on your dose though, of course. If you're really tripping balls, like 500ug or so it would obviously be harder.

EDIT: I do not encourage the use of LSD under a bad mindset, but I've always been able to block it out and still enjoy my trip.

I always tripped with high doses, after the first few times at least. I suppose it would be possible for me to block out some negative feelings, but nothing big. When I'm lying down in a dark room listening to music at the peak of a trip, I just naturally start to think of my life, what I've done recently, and what I'm planning for the future. I couldn't enjoy that at all if I haven't been making the right decisions and doing the right things in life.

I could never do something like call in sick to work to trip, spend the rent money on drugs, cancel plans with the family to trip, etc. I've seen friends make those decisions (and much worse ones) for drugs like heroin and cocaine. I've never seen anyone go down the wrong path like that for psychedelics.

Although I don't think tripping every week is a good idea for anyone, I'd still be more concerned about someone drinking every week - which is rather common. It isn't going to make your friend stupid, or give them brain damage, but it may result in them being rather physically and mentally worn out until they give it a break for a while, which can result in them not thinking quite as clearly - including memory issues like you mentioned.

The good news is having done worse than that, and tripped every 3-4 days for many months in a row at one time, I can say that simply stopping and taking a break alleviates all those symptoms completely, so they're certainly not permanent.

I think the biggest worry that your friend might care about is the fact that her trips will quickly become less meaningful and insightful due to tolerance build up - if she really wants to trip often she should keep it to every 2 weeks. Ideally you should trip no more than once a month if you want to keep 0 tolerance and have your trips as magical and intense as when you first took psychedelics :)

You should tell her this, and the fact is, if she at least takes a 2 week break between each trip, it'll be much more deep and fun, without many of the short term side effects! :D

Agreed. even though i have little to no experience with lsd i have read there are basically no side effects. except i would be concerned about the negative flashbacks that some people say they get say if she has a bad experience. and i agree with you jesusgreen about the lack of meaning that would arise..because to me that would be the main purpose in taking part in such a mind-altering experience...to find meaning. but like all things, people become addicted to either the substance, or perhaps the altered state of consciousness (leaving the reality that may be painful), which may be in the case here as I do not believe lsd has any addictive properties...definitely not like ETOH :)
