Turn that FROWN upside down jnr, or not. Why the upside down smile?

Damn, just found out that the full time position I had an interview for 3 weeks ago didn't turn out. I guess 4+ years out of full time work due to my injury will make it HARD getting a good job again I guess. I've been pretty happy "being injured" at home (meh to the pain but that's what the daily oxycontin is for!) being a daddy but a friend told me about his workplace having a position open up recently. It is (well was!) potential for awesomeness, work from home, good money, internet/linux security work, would have been GRREAAAT but alas, I didn't get it :(

At least the only positive I can try to take from this is that now I realise I have the motivation to work [full time] again, I just don't know if my injury could put up with going to a job/work site full time, I could do at home work but travelling to work and stuff, ummm, not so sure. I will try though, going to apply for jobs now, can't see that many *nix/security/networking stuff in Geelong so I guess I'd have to travel to Melbourne for work, so.. *off to applying for jobs*, just down at present from not getting the dream job. I still have the possible contract/part time job I am doing now turning into full time but was told it's not for a good while (1-3 years) so I don't think I could wait that long now since the interview 3 weeks ago..

*Wishes myself luck for a job*, Oh also a close uncle's funeral last week hasn't made the past week the best of weeks. Still, it's not too much to complain about, just had to let it out, I was REAL KEEN for that position!

.....my butter chicken that didn't really taste nice complaint pales into insignificance now.....

still it was a let down

My forearm is disgustingly swollen due to a month old infected tick bite. It swelled up in like half an hour so apparently I had some sort of not visible infection already which spread out into the tissue from where it was contained after I poked at the sore bite and worked out this afternoon.

Fucking arsehole parasites. I'm so sick of getting bitten by things.

I can't fill the script of antibiotics until tomorrow either due to the chemist being shut.

Enjoy it while it lasts bacteria because you're fucked tomorrow!

How is your arm now, LP? I hope the ABs smacked that infection upside the head.

Had to get a second course of antibiotics so I've still got about 3 days to go, but it's down to a smallish red bump now thank fuck. Had to wear a patch over it going out over Christmas because I had a gross looking boil thing (after the initial swelling of my forearm went down). But you know, I just told girls I got burnt saving Children from a fire :)

Also no-one told me (although having over half a biology degree it should have clicked) that the anti-biotics destroy all the good bacteria in your digestive system so I had gut pains for 3 days until I went back to the Doctor and she told me to use those Inner Health tablets and they worked. I feel kind of guilty for killing all the symbiotic friends I've probably had for years and replacing them with impostors.

Anyway the whole story is kinda funny because about two months ago I had a nose infection (which the stupid Doctor told me was viral instead of giving me antibiotics then and solving the whole problem) which caused me to have nose bleeds for two weeks straight every time I blew my nose, then I had a rash on my leg and other arm (which I thought was to do with the heat and working outside), then finally my massively infected tick bite. Turns out I have a staph. infection which I've been spreading around my body for two months by scratching mosquito and tick bites - which started oh so long ago in my nose.

Fucking working outdoors sucks sometimes!

So anyway, I always though staph. infections were something that only weak people got in hospitals but that is erroneous information. So if anyone ever has any of these symptoms, get them checked out:

I hate depression and insomnia so much. Hope you work out whatever's causing it and figure things out. Depression sucks!

I've been alright for over a year now but I was massively depressed for a year and a half before that. Such a waste of one's time feeling like shit all the time!

Jaysus! Thank goodness you found out - that could have turned much nastier than it did.

As for anti-biotics and a shit digestive system - it's one of the reasons I refuse ABs unless i *have* to have them... they wreak havoc with my insides and it takes me ages to bounce back.

Glad to hear you're better!

I have labyrinthitis. On the upside, i don't have it badly - apparently it's milder than usual, however i still feel like i'm constantly drunk at the moment, I can't drive, i have major spacial & temporal jerking and i almost got hit by a car today because i didn't know which way was what as i was crossing the road. I'm on medication that helps with the dizziness, and am on a strong nasal spray to get rid of the infection (which caused it), so hopefully i'll be ok in a while.

And here's me thinking that labyrinthitis was that condition you get when you can hear a David Bowie song somewhere in the distance, but no matter how hard you search you can't locate it. :(

Get well soon Samadhi.

You know, it would almost be worth feeling this way to see, in person, David Bowie in a pair of very figure-hugging tights. *sigh*. Thanks Busty. On a brighter note, the very strong anti-vertigo tablets i'm now taking have already gone a ways to stopping the dizziness, but the virus just has to take its course - Pop had this about 6 years ago; his was far worse (he couldn't do anything but lay down with his eyes closed for almost 3 weeks) and the residual spacial jerking lasted over 3 months. :\

The Mind Boggles.

On my mate JBs birthday
me, him + another dude
were hanging out at this wharf
called 'Port Neptune'
when we struck up conversation
with a cruisy looking dude with
a tatt of a piece on his forearm.

He seems real genuine,
we hang out shooting the breeze waiting
for the ferry smoking cigs.

Turns out he's from Britain,
he's on holiday in Australia,
a carpenter,
wife + new kid in the UK
just bought a boat,
gonna do it up,
looking for some help.

I know a guy who fixes marine engines
so I get the guys surname + tell him
I'll hook him up on Facebook.

Befriended the dude,
but had no luck with my boaking mate,
he's in a rough spot with demon drink.

Found out today,
after seeing his BDay pop up on FB
that he got picked up by Immigration
on the day I was considering sending him
an invite to a party on an island in the harbour
but I felt wrong about it.

He got sent to Villawood
+ on the 8th December he killed himself in his cell.

Turns out he was wanted on serious charges
of child pornography + assault with intent to kill.

He seemed like such a nice guy.

I've always wondered if paedophilia is like a disease, something that any one can get or develop. Maybe you can be a nice guy who is a paedophile. There are a lot of monsters out there of course.

Still going. I had a pretty bad day yesterday, but even though i'm still feeling really wobbly, i don't feel like i need to lay on the couch all day - and i can look at a computer screen without feeling sick.

I've wondered whether it's like (most of us accept that) being gay is - that's just what they're attracted to. Maybe there's plenty of people out there that are that way but have the ability to ignore it, either for fear of getting caught or because they're nice, like you say vanth, and they can see that their attraction isn't worth fucking up some kid's life.

Louis Theroux did a pretty interesting show on it at some stage, talking to guys in prision in the US somewhere. Interesting, but creepy as hell.
