Top 10 Electronic Albums - No Rock & Roll Allowed

so what about crossover type stuff? i mean celldweller successfully mixes DnB, goa, and metal, often all in the same song. i still consider it electronic music....

My understanding of the term 'electronic music' is music that features synthesisers. Therefore, if most of the songs on an album feature a synthesiser, then IMO that album counts as an 'electronic album'.

:)

would like to add the sound track to the movie groove.

I can't think of a top 10..... maybe if you count like free mix releases.... I don't have that many cd releases tbh.... But I listen to more electronic music than any person I know IRL.

leftfield - leftism
primal scream - screamadelica
sabres of paradise - sabresonic
autechre - incunabula
andrea parker - kiss my arp
james pennington - dark energy collided energy
react 2 rhythm - Whatever You Dream

If we are talking compilations then the New Electronica compilations rule the roost, track them down if you can, they are amazing

NOTE TO OTHERS: DJ albums don't count, no matter how much you like them.

A few people mentioned the Underworld album, but everyone has forgotten about The KLF and Propellerheads! KLF are the godfathers of modern techno and, like 'em or not, the Props were very, very influential. Such a shame they only did one record.

I heard they did record another but scrapped it as they didn't feel it was up to snuff. One day, perhaps.

Lamb - Lamb

dj shaddow - in tune and on time (althought this is a dvd of a live performance, its worth mentioning)

These are about the only artists albums I can stand to listen to, the rest of what I listen to is mostly mixes from various bedroom djs/producers like myself

Here's mine, in random order:

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92
Orb - Adventures beyond the Ultraworld
Sabres of Paradise - Haunted Dancehall (Ballad Of Nicky McGuire is really special!)
Roni Size - New forms
System 1 - drugs work! (Of course)
A Guy called Gerald - Black Secret Technology
Hardfloor - Respect
FSOL - Lifeforms
Model 500 - deep space
Kruder & Dorfmeister - K&D sessions
Leftfield - Leftism
